I came early this morning! I was hoping that it will be packed... Fortunately I was the only one. The pies are very fresh and delicious! The owner's very nice and sweet!

These pies are absolutely delicious! I went there for the first time last month and I was not disappointed. I bought a few pies for my mom and I and we both enjoyed them very much. I got a medium sized ube pie as well as a medium sized blackberry pie. I also picked us up a couple of bite sized pies, salted caramel & chocolate, and peach. YUM! I live in SF, but I look forward to my next trip to San Jose. I will definitely be picking up some more pie!

I've had this place on my radar for so long and finally was close by to check it out. I missed the first entrance and entered through the second entrance and found some parking across the daycare. I walked in and was greeted warmly by a woman. I came up to the front and the cashier greeted me and waited patiently while I browsed. I was going to ask what was popular but I went by what flavors I preferred. I got 4 minis (blackberry, apricot, mango, banana chocolate) and 1 of the size up (maybe medium -blueberry). While he packed it up I browsed and saw they had other pies and large pies too. I took a seat in one of the table spaces that was very comfy. The setup has tables and benches against the wall to sit on. It's got a cozy feel to it. Pies are displayed nicely. So many options for all preferences. Once I got my order I took a bite of the blackberry and it was delicious. Not too sweet, natural fruit flavors, pie crust was 10/10, and the crumble on top of the pie was to die for!! Mango is absolutely delicious! Apricot is truly acquired taste. If you like apricot you will like it. Banana chocolate was not my personal preference. Blueberry was a little too sweet for my liking and again still natural flavors all around. I enjoyed everything I ate and I'm glad to know this place exists and is serving up delicious pies. Will return and keep exploring flavors or just grab my favs which were mango and blackberry!

Uniqueness: Many unique types of mini pies to choose from! Ube, Mango, Apricot, not the usual flavors Wait Time: [x][x][x][x][ ] Food Quality: [x][x][x][x][x] Service: [x][x][x][x][x] Setting: [x][x][x][x][x] Cost: [x][x][x][x][ ] Recommendation? Highly recommend their lemon tart and chocolate caramel. Anything with crumble is also amazing! I was surprised for years that The Giving Pies was literally right next to a Greek spot I would come by from time to time, and was craving some delicious pies from this place. Of course we all know the drama and amazing public outpouring of support for this tiny shop but want to try to give an unbiased review aside from the news of that. Coming to this spot on a weekend was not crowded as the hype had died down at this point, and there was a small line of around 5-6 people waiting. Since this is a small business, the pace could be slow but trust me when we get to the quality of these pies, it was worth it. The shop is small with a window of various assortment of mini, medium, and large sweet pies and also some savory pies (quiches possibly?) as well. They have your typical pecan, chocolate, and berry flavors but what surprised me and also was a big plus in my opinion was their assortment of unique other flavors such as pear, apricot, ube, and mango for example. I decided to get a mixed box of chocolate, mango, ube, pecan, lemon, and apricot for take out, and by the time I got home and tried them--wow for quality of pies in general, these were probably one of the best I had in a while in the South Bay. It's been a while since Marie Calendars closed if I'm trying to think of any pie or traditional pie locations but if you want a legitimate pie albeit a mini pie, this was the spot to go to. The lemon tart was delectably sweet, tart and soft, consistency of what you'd expect from a perfectly made lemon tart that had a perfectly thick yet thin crust. The chocolate (caramel) tart was a surprise to me as it was definitely better than what you'd expect from a chocolate tart. The apricot and mango tarts each were sweet and fresh and I loved the crumbles on top that was better than a typical crumble/strudel. The pecan tart was at the bottom of my list but not that it was bad but it was like any other pecan tart. Service here I could tell they're short staffed but were very friendly and made sure you got the tarts you wanted and hoped we liked them. Prices for these pies can be pretty steep at around 3-4 dollars for their mini tarts but trust me, it was well worth the try. If you come earlier, I'm certain there's plenty more flavors to choose from as well. Giving Pies being a spot that was in my opinion literally unknown until I was in the area to actually see it was one of my best decisions when it comes to desserts, specifically to tarts & pies. If you're willing to spend a little extra, you'll be enjoying probably one of the best pie spots in the South Bay and helping out a great small business. Give this place a try once with their small tarts for starters (lemon and chocolate is best in my opinion) and I know you'll be back to try some more. A high recommendation in my eyes and I know I'll definitely buy some more when I'm back in the area.

Incredible selection of savory treats , this place is so cool. The mission and focus of this business is in the great hands. The sweet treats didn't disappoint either

The interior of the pie shop was cute and inviting, a bit of indoor seating, service was standard, staff was friendly enough. Got an iced mocha which was good, and the medium sized salmon and zucchini pie only took about 5 minutes to heat, flavor was okay, but a bit salty and definitely fishy, and the crust was sticking to the paper on the bottom, so that wasn't fun peeling it off as it fell apart... I'd rather try their other pie flavors, but they only had two kinds remaining about 30 minutes before closing time on a Saturday, and the other was a sweet pie, not what I had in mind. As I had taken the last savory pie in the display case, walk-in customers who came in after me simply left in disappointment. What's the point of having an enticing menu, when you have an empty display case during business hours, and basically tell customers they have no options?!?! If this is the norm, I'm not sure it's worth making the trip out here (unless you have made a special order in advance), but I might give it another try just to see if this was an off day. With Pi Day coming up, hopefully this place is prepared (they're only serving from a special Pi Day menu on March 14th).

Gets these pies immediately!! So yummy! Every flavor was delicious. As a person with celiacs I felt so safe here. The staff even packaged the gluten and non gluten pies in seperate boxes! My favorite was the blackberry!! Full of fresh fruit and topped with their delicious crumble. However you won't be disappointed at all the mini pies were a fun way to try different flavors!

I heard about this place because of the Facebook fiasco so I figured I would give it a try. I got one of each flavor they had: blackberry, ube, chocolate coconut, guava, apricot, pecan, sweet potato, pear almond. I don't know if this place doesn't believe in using sugar or just uses barely any sugar but I like for pies to be sweet especially when berries or fruit are super tart. I cut each into 4 pieces for other family members to try. Pretty much all of them went into the trash. The guava was just an odd flavoring. Ube wasn't sweet at all, just taste like mashed up purple yams. Chocolate coconut was very rich chocolate ganache with coconut flakes. Sweet potato was chunky with too much nutmeg. Pecan I didn't care for because it tasted like maple pecan. Apricot very tart but tasty. Blackberry tasty but needed sugar. Pear one was really gross.... it reminded me of being in the dentist office. As I was tapping my card, I saw that it automatically added a tip. I said, oops I didn't want to add a tip. The girl just shrungs her shoulders and goes "oh too late" and obviously doesn't care because she's just greedy. They don't do anything that's worthy of earning a tip. It's never too late to cancel a transaction.

Cute place with delicious pies! It's in a tiny plaza but not usually too busy so quick to get in and out. They offer a few sizes of pies too so it's fun to try out all the different flavors without the commitment of a huge pie!

Ube pie was too sweet and key lime pie was too "runny" for me. Not the best key lime pie I've had, but it would've been fine if was thicker. A bit expensive

Super cute, tasty mini pies! I brought them to a family dinner and they were the perfect little dessert. The kids especially couldn't wait to choose their pie! Us adults even cut the mini pies into quarters so we could sample as many as we could. All delicious. Quick, friendly service too.

I came to support the cafe and tried the pies after reading the news. Omg it became an international news in Asia. The mini pies are excellent. I love the tart!!! Overall not too sweetened that meets my family's stomach. Thank you!
