When this place is having a good day they can cook the best pork sisig in the Bay in my opinion! Combination of soft and slightly chewy and not rock hard. The problem is you're rolling a dice to see whether they'll cook a good batch or give you a nearly inedible jerky-like hard sisig. I don't want to play this game anymore. Sorry pass!

Delicious!!! Got the pancit palabok, sisig pork, and the bangus sisig for take out. The pork was a bit dry, but maybe if we had in house that wouldn’t be an issue.

Finally! I've found a great, authentic Filipino restaurant nearby. The bangus sisig was fire and tastes like something my mom would make at home. We had it with garlic rice which came in a cute little kaldero. Small details like that made our experience feel the familiar feeling of home. There's even a kareoke machine inside :) Going to tell my friends about Parekoy! I'm excited to come back and try more.

As someone who is Filipino and from LA I would 100% recommend this place as a go to spot. They serve a lot of family sized meals and when I tell you I haven't had anything close to my Rita's cooking other than this place I mean it. You might wait 30 mins for your food but just know that food is made with love for real.

Small family owned business serving authentic Filipino cuisine. The portions were generous and service was quick and attentive. We ordered the lumpia shanghai, pork sisig, adobo fried rice, beef kare kare, and garlic rice (not pictured).Lumpia Shanghai 3/5: These were decent but didn't stand out to me.Pork Sisig 5/5: This was the star of the show. It was crunchy, savory and had a bit of kick to it. Be sure to order it with rice though because it's a bit salty on it's own.Adobo Fried Rice 4/5: Pretty flavorful and rice was cooked to perfection.Beef Kare Kare 5/5: Good nutty flavor and they did not skimp on the ingredients. It came with so much veggies, oxtails AND tripe, definitely worth the price.Garlic Rice 4/5: I felt like it lacked a bit on the garlic flavor but it went well with the pork sisig and beef kare kare.

Being Filipino myself, I can say this place is authentic, exceptional, & phenomenal!I know that there are other notable Filipino restaurants in the area (both in the East Bay, and the whole Bay Area in general), so one wouldn't have to go far for some good, decent Filipino dishes, but I count myself and all San Leandro residents extremely lucky to have Parekoy in SL! To have such an outstanding Filipino restaurant in our own city/"backyard", we are considerably fortunate indeed! I know family members who are a bit jealous that this restaurant is in the same city as where I live than theirs (they still make the trip or eat here sometimes when in the city). For me, I can't bring up & endorse the Crispy Pata enough! Not too many places offer & serve it -- even more so admirably at this price -- that this place is that much more wonderful because of it. It is a large, great size that's never overcooked, crispy in all the right places, tender and fatty in all the other right places, and a full and complete meal you will definitely come out satisfied with!Likewise (because they are very similar dishes), the Lechon Kawali is as good as it gets; with big layers of fat on top of cut chunks of pork and perfectly crispy skin -- divine! This dish can easily be botched to a diminished quality if it's overcooked or not cooked correctly, but you can tell they take care on it that it's always good here! The Sisig (both Pork or Bangos) is a great staple of this place that, when I'm craving for it, I always get it from here! It offers the perfect amount of crunchy, while still consisting of the right chewiness as well. Another very notable aspect of these dishes is that it is not spicy nor is the onion too prominent in the taste; nothing is too overpowering -- which can be a symptomatic problem in other places.Additionally, we always make it a point to add their Adobo Fried Rice as much as we can when the opportunity arises for our orders! They give such a sizeable, considerable quantity of it, that it's a very satisfying amount and makes for a good portion for baon! The sauce from the adobo elevates the rice so much more than standard, regular rice that the uplifted taste is so delectable. And it's not just a fried rice that is flavored with adobo sauce -- they give significantly sized chunks of chicken pieces too (almost whole pieces of the chicken!)!One notable dish that my Mom gushes about is the Kare Kare. She says it's superior to all the other offerings of the dish at all the other restaurants around. Some other notable dishes (notable & amazing comparing to its non-availability in other restaurants) is Beef Bulalo and, if you're lucky, arroz-caldo/lugow! The arroz-caldo is yummy! What makes this place just as wonderful as their food is the people who work & serve here! They are so nice and sweet and super friendly -- like going to your Grandma's house (there's literally a Lola I've seen helping there) and having dinner there! It's immediately apparent in how this reflects to how wonderful their service ends up being as well! The restaurant itself is located & placed in a very unassuming place. There is no parking lot for this place either; sort of only street parking in front, around the corner, or across the fairly busy street (E. 14th Street) towards the parking lot for the small strip mall/BAL Theater (or into the surrounding neighborhood if there is absolutely no available spaces) -- though I can't say this fact would ever keep me from eating their food!It is not a big space/restaurant, but I think it's a good sized one that accommodates enough -- I'd say it's medium-small size. With its authentic, excellent dishes of Filipino cuisine, this is my go to place to get/serve food from when I have my titas/titos/cousins coming and they want some delicious Filipino food [but takeout, because we/they don't want to make it ourselves :-P ]. And it's just such a bonus that it's in San Leandro no less! This

Our party of five had a nice weekend lunch at Parekoy. We ordered shrimp sinigang, tocino, pork sisig, lechon kawali, and dinugan with a bowl each of steamed and garlic rice. Everything was good, but we did find the sinigang a little too salty. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Our waitress was helpful as it was our first time visiting Parekoy.Overall a nice Filipino restaurant. I will be back to check out their all-day breakfast.

SF East Bay. I wanted to like this restaurant so much but no such luck:* crispy binagoongan - ironic how this dish could have used more, you guessed it, bagoong* pork sisig - I’ve definitely had my share of forgettable sisig but a bad one? Unfortunately, Parekoy you have this honor. While the flavor was there, the meat was so tough we felt like we were eating jerky* pinakbet - the only dish we liked from our takeout, authentic tastingDisappointing overall & no repeat visit.

The place is small and clean. Came in on a Sunday afternoon to pick up a takeout order. There were no patrons dining in, so can't tell how busy they can get. There was only one person in line before me for pick up but it took a while before we got attended to. Once we were helped, we got out of there pretty quickly. TBH, I didn't have any expectation on the food and was surprised on how good it was! Everything we ordered were tasty and delicious! The lumpia shanghai were truly bite size and crispy. The bangus sisig, menudo, and pinoy beef steak were very flavorful. The pancit was very good as well. Will be back to try other dishes on the menu!

I ordered ginataang sitaw with kalabasa and it taste like trash!!!! How could any filipino mess up this dish? I know I can make it but I was not feeling well to get up and cook it myself so I though to just order it from here. The problem with filipino food places in the US is they don't care about what their food will taste like as long as they sell it! This is not giving a satisfaction of any authentic filipino food at all! I don't know who cooks at this place but man, whoever you are, if you cannot cook this simple and easy dish well, you shouldn't be cooking at all! I am so pissed about wasting my money on this dish! No flavor, doesn't taste like ginataang sitaw kalabasa dish at all and the pork was not cooked well!!! It taste so horrid! the pork is MALANSA!!!!!! The majority you're talking about must have never tasted AUTHENTIC filipino food.

For our agenda, our group hike leader had pegged Parekoy for its delicious homestyle Filipino food for our lunch after our hike. We arrived at 1pm and parked around the corner on 148th Ave. Our group of five was seated in the middle of the dining room and we checked out the menu.Since Filipino food was new to most of us, our waitress answered our questions about the items. She said the portions were family-style sized, so we decided to get an appetizer and three entrees. Lumpia Shanghai - there was about 20 lumpias to the order and it came with a sweet-chili dipping sauce. There came hot out of the fryer. Crispy and delish!Pancit Bihon - the pancit uses bihon or rice sticks and stirred fried with small shrimp, slices of Chinese sausage, chicken, julienned carrots, cabbage, celery, green onions and lemon slices. It was delicious. Pork Sisig - came out hot and smoking on an iron platter. It was a full of crispy pork with chopped onion, bell peppers and green onions with lemon slices. It was topped with a raw egg and you stirred it into the sisig. My first time trying pork sisig and I loved it. Whole Crispy Fried Chicken - it's not a battered fried chicken but rather similar to a Chinese style crispy chicken. The skin was crispy and the meaty chicken was moist. Two of us had the halo-halo and they felt that it had too much ice in it.The food was delicious and service was friendly. Will be on my list to go for Filipino food.

Go to spot for Filipino food to go or cater! Their pork sisig is my fave! Pork sinigang was a bit too sour for my liking but overall was good.Pancit bihon - yums Beef steak - good! Saucier that I'm used to but I like it! Good service and very accommodating.
