I also have a Soul Food Restaurant but in Sacramento. I came to this establishment from a recommendation after leaving a funeral. I met the staff including the owner, the food, the service and the conversation was great. I even seen a old friend when we use to live here. Love it will be back.

My wings and fries were delicious but other ladies at the table said their food was not. It's really tiny in there also. I asked for a glass and got a plastic Gold cup from the old school, and our food was served on paper plates. I won't be back it's not worth the 20-minute ride from Oakland fried chicken wings still have hair on them the macaroni and cheese was straight mush believe the website cuz that's what they showed on the website but I didn't think that would be true cuz nobody likes overcooked noodles the only decent thing was the potato salad because I think it's better than Everett and Jones

I wanted to take a moment and write a review on this restaurant.We have been trying to make it down and finally made it on the 3rd of the month. It happened to be my dads birthday. He wanted some chicken, black eyed peas, and greens. When we got there it smelled AMAZING outside. The restaurant itself is small. But that's ok , the best places usually are. Service was very attentive. Friendly, and informative. We ordered the ribs and link, with yam and greens6 piece fish(snapper) with Mac, cabbage, and large rice and gravy. 4 piece chicken wings,black eyed peas, and greens. Let me tell you something! In the car we opened the greens and Boy!!!!! They were so flavorful! Everything was delicious. The one one thing I probably would get was the cabbage. Just because it lacked a little flavor. But, everything else is absolutely 10/10! Hot, crispy, flavorful! If you're looking for some quality soul food, I would definitely recommend this spot! Was so good didn't take any pictures! I will next time, because there will absolutely be a next time!

Recently, a powerful oxtail craving led me to discover this charming gem of a restaurant. Not only did I find a cozy ambiance, but the service was as warm as their delicious oxtail. I opted for the oxtail with red beans & rice and collard greens, and oh my, the oxtail was a symphony of tenderness and flavor. The sides were equally outstanding! Thank you!
Overall a good experience. We arrived around 3pm and it was fairly busy. The customer service was good, the food was good and it came out quick.We ordered the Treaty meal, but requested the wings be replaced with Turkey wings instead which they kindly accommodated (paid extra).Will try their cakes next time.I recommend it if you’re looking for quality service and quality food. $$$

...I like well-seasoned food, but their food was extremely salty. The fried fish was bland and watery under the salty crust. The mac and cheese was abnormally cold and the red beans and rice was watery. The food lacked any personality and did not feel like it was cooked with "passion" and/or "love". Unfortunately, I would not recommend or go back.

Good simple home cooked soul food! Recently moved here from Southern California and been missing all my catfish spots, found this on yelp and boy it did not disappoint, wings and catfish are BOMB, the Mac and cheese is great, and I love how it's nothing fancy just simple you go there to eat and leave feeling like you just had a home cooked meal. Also great service every time I go the girls always take good care of my table. So sweet and very attentive and you can NOT leave without taking one of their amazing desserts. They're seriously all good!!!! I seen a review stating that the food here lacks seasoning, and the cooks don't cook with love or passion, let me tell you that person just woke up on the wrong side of the bed. None of that is factual. Try scends for yourself and you be the judge. The flavor speaks for itself!!! I will be returning with friends and family.

This place is the Best if you want good soul food, Outside my own and my mother's who is from Mississippi. Scends is really good I give it a 5 star, because you can tell when food is cooked with love and this is, you can also tell when food is cooked fast. not this, only downside its only open 4 days a week Wednesday thru Saturday. love this place I order to go, very small place.
