No food, but they really know their beer! Received excellent recommendations and they were spot on for our tastes.

If you're looking for a cozy spot to catch up with friends over drinks post-dinner, this place in downtown San Leandro is a fantastic choice. They boast an impressive array of draft beers, perfect for any palate. Adding to the charm are the numerous TVs, ideal for sports enthusiasts who don't want to miss a game. The cleanliness of the establishment and the warmth of the staff further enhance the experience. Despite the growing number of options in the area, this remains one of my preferred hangouts.

Nice quiet place where you can actually talk with your friends. They have a nice variety of beers on tap and other drinks. Right now they have an amazing imperial stout. They seem to always have something good on tap.

This place is the best! My husband and I love it. The selection is ace, the owners are wonderful, and the location is perfect. Don't miss this San Leandro gem!

This seems like a locals joint, my wife and I seemed like the only newbies here that night. They take have multiple TVs around the bar showing all the NBA games available, and most of the people here were watching the Warriors game; I appreciate the other games being up since I'm not a Bay Area native. You can buy varying sizes of beer which is great if you want to try a bunch of different ones; they have a pretty extensive list of ones on tap as well as some cans in a tall fridge. Lots of people came in with their dogs which was really nice as we were dog-sitting; they also don't serve any food but let you bring whatever food you'd like from outside. The 2 guys working the bar were pretty mellow and seemed like they paid attention to the NBA at large which was cool. I could totally see myself getting together here with friends or coming here just to watch some games in the future.

My partner wanted to get me a cider because we went to a beer garden, and all they had was beer--and I don't like beer. It was early afternoon, and there were a few guys sitting alone nursing their drinks.I got a delicious pomegranate draft cider. I was impressed with its dry flavor. Seriously, it was very good. The atmosphere was dark (I almost needed a flashlight). Besides the bar, there were small tables with chairs where you could visit with a friend. I liked the artwork that was displayed on the wall.It was wheelchair accessible.

Despite it's name, this place was uncomfortably warm. Ordered a round of draft beers with friends and some (not all) tasted a bit off... My guess is from old beer sitting in the lines for too long or a C02 issue. I'd recommend sticking to the cans.

Ok, I'm officially done with this depressing place. I've come here off on and since they opened and it's just as sad as the first day. I've never been that impressed with their beer selection and the room itself is awkward and dark. For years they didn't have any decorations on their walls but now they a bunch of pathetic paintings "for sale" as if anyone would buy those things. The main gripe is the service. It's so bad - it's like the dudes that run the place don't want to work there and they have zero customer service skills. The big guy is decent at best but the guy with the pony tail is the worst. He never greets you - even after you greet him - never smiles, and never says thanks. Nothing. It's like, "Do you want me to return or buy more beer from you?" because they way you treat me says No. Time and time again. There's such limited choices in San Leandro for drinking so whenever I ended up coming here is it was because I was desperate to eat something nearby and have a drink. Well, with other places that opened up like Fieldworks or Danny Murry's around the corner, I no longer need to come here. Good luck with your business - not really.

Nasty service. Put up for it for too long, as their tap list is usually great. But after the giant guy, that's always there, and knows us after all these years, served me a glass of disgusting foam from the end of the keg. Still charged me for a full pour, it was nasty enough, but after the foam settled, less than half the glass was full, I asked him. He said he might me able to add some more foam! SERIOUSLY! ???Figured there was no way he was going to charge me for a full pour, but he did. We spent a $100+ as usually with cans to go. His tip dissolved after that, and won't be back. I assume they are closing soon.

Dark/depressing ambiance, it's always a sausage fest in there, okay beer, no food, the big guy that works there is antisocial/rude. absolutely no one under 21 is allowed in there. definitely not going back to the cooler.

I had a great experience at The Cooler in San Leandro. The atmosphere is laid-back and the crowd is knowledgeable about craft beer. The owners themselves attend to customers, and they are both fantastic. If I may offer a suggestion, it would be to be a bit more attentive. I noticed that when I finished my glass, both servers were sitting on opposite sides of the bar, engrossed in their phones rather than paying attention to their surroundings. The beer selection mainly consists of local breweries, which is a nice touch. The only minor downside was that the music playlist was a bit loud. Overall, I enjoyed my visit to The Cooler and would recommend it to fellow beer enthusiasts.
