Food is so dang good. It may take a little bit to get your order but it's because it is made to order. Already fresh and hot.

So the food is solid and you can't beat the nice surroundings. Value is not bad, I mean the food feels fresh and most of the the things we have had we loved. The only thing I wasn't loving was the chili they had on the chili dog but the hot dog was good. We used to just go to Avila farms for the animals and the ice cream but now the kids want the yummy Mac and cheese or the chicken sandwich. There is seating all over and you just go up to the window and order.

Yelped to find a quick bite to eat on the way back to hotel and found Chicken Shack. Photos of the nashville chicken sandwich enticed my son. This place is set up in the middle of a farm animal experience - nice little surprise. Cute place to hangout for the afternoon. We ordered a tri tip sandwich, chicken sandwich, artichoke, chili cheese hot dog, and 2 ciders. Tri tip sandwich: bread was buttery with a light toast, delicious. Meat was a little dry but they did have a sweet, thin bbq sauce and dill mayo if you wanted to add some sauce to your sandwich. Chili cheese dog: hella beans. Too many for my liking. Wish i would've asked for chili on side or just ordered a hot dog. Chicken sandwich: ordered "hot" but tasted no "hot" at all. The cold slaw definitely made bun soggy, took away from crunchy chicken breast. Artichoke: hella boiled. good flavor. would've been awesome if they split in middle and grilled it. came with pesto mayo and another light pink mayo (flavor not obvious). Ciders: nice and cold. Would i want to spend another $72 on what i got? probably not, but good experience.

I have been looking to check this place out. The atmosphere was fun with tons of people, live music, beautiful outdoors, and lots of farm animals. Unfortunately, there was way too much breading on the chicken. I literally couldn't taste anything but breading. It was also supposed to be hot chicken and there was no spice. I broke it up and the coleslaw on the sandwich was great. The chicken without the breading was moist and tasty. Maybe it was just my piece, but seems like they need to use larger pieces of chicken with less breading and more hot sauce. The house pickles were good.

My wife and I were looking for a place to have lunch. We first came to this place, parked and decided not to go because it looked like a local school was having a field trip. So we went to a marketplace down the road and walked in - it was super-unappealing. Anyways...we came back to this place cuz we were super hungry. And we were super impressed. I got the Fried Chicken Sandwich. My wife got a deconstructed pulled pork sandwich (since she didn't want a sandwich). And we shared the smoked artichoke. The artichoke was perfectly cooked. Lightly smoked with great flavor. We tried both sauces: Sirachha Mayo, and Pest Mayo. Both were great with the artichoke. My wife really enjoyed the pulled pork. Had good flavor, coated in a bbq sauce and not super fatty. Now for the Fried Chicken. First off, it was perfectly presented. The first bight was great. The chicken was crisp, had a nice crunch, good temp and really enjoyed the coating. Midway through the sandwich, I realized that I was eating the best fried chicken sandwich I had ever had. The brioche bun was perfect and the Kale Coleslaw was perfect. Tasty pickle cukes too Good flavor and not soggy. This fried chicken sandwich is EXCELLENT. It's the type of sandwich that when you are eating it, you don't want it to end. Try for yourself. Can't wait to go back!

Great food, generous portions here at The Barn. Lots of ambiance near the animals that you can feed if you buy a head of romaine lettuce from them. Fresh produce at the market, along with great pies. Plenty of touristy things but you don't have to be a tourist to enjoy. It's all outdoor seating and outhouse restrooms, so nothing fancy but this is a fun stop on a road trip or a great afternoon with kids (or if you're a kid at heart.) We were much more satisfied eating a good meal of delicious chicken sandwiches and tri-tip sandwiches on toasted garlic buns than eating the same old stuff from a franchise.

One of the best casual meals in SLO County we've ever had. Outstanding in every way down to the smallest details. We will definitely be back the next time we pass through!

Visited on a PACKED Sunday afternoon when everyone was there checking out the pumpkins and Fall festivities on the farm. They only had one person taking orders, which sucked because I waited in line for 30 minutes just to order. There was no shade and it was a hot day, so it would have been nice to have had another employee taking orders to expedite the process. Prices are high. Expect that going in. I heard many remarking in line about the price gouging (i.e., $18 for a tri tip sandwich- no sides), but I expected that and ordered accordingly. I ordered a beef hot dog (reasonably priced), a side of mac and cheese (not horribly priced), a smoked? artichoke (higher priced), and mini cinnamon sugar donuts [no dipping sauces as they are offered at an up-charge], one water bottle, one soda, and one apple cider. My total came to around $36. The food was ready in about 10 minutes. So all in all, it was a 40-minute wait from the moment I initially got in line to order to receiving food. A bit too long considering many in attendance have kids who aren't very patient. Beef hot dog was large, no complaints for the price. I say that's the best deal going there. Mac and cheese is a decent portion and could be split between two kiddos or be made into a meal itself for an adult. I really liked the flavor of the macaroni and cheese, but the others did not like the consistency. To each their own. The artichoke was so disappointing. It was so soggy and drenched in some sort of oil? vinegar? that did not taste good. It was served with a pesto aioli, but there was too much existing flavoring going on with the artichoke that I couldn't use the aioli. Would have preferred a plain artichoke that wasn't as messy to be able to dip into the aioli. All in all, it was thrown out- which sucked, because I think I spent $8 on that alone. The mini donuts were yummy. Not sure how much they cost, but I wasn't willing to spend extra for the dipping sauces. Not really needed, just know they're not super moist, but still tasty. Fresh apple cider was delicious. Would I eat here again? Sure. But I would be selective again in my ordering to get the most for my money.

I have to say, I had low expectations for this place, being that it was at a kiddie place. i read the two other good reviews and one bad review--so wasn't sure. but it was the best meal we had all trip to San Luis Obispo.Pulled pork sandwich: great.Fried brussel sprouts: just like I remember it being when the craze began---great blue cheese on it.Artichoke petals: i personally don't get this, but my kids loved it and ate it.fried chicken salad: it was generous and good.macaroni and cheese: excellent and as expected. kids loved it.cole slaw: a touch of creamy--beloved too.i can't wait to go back on our next visit to San Luis Obispo.

They thought that this was okay to serve to customers. Extremely overly done chicken that looks worse than a fried dog turd. Flavor wasn't great on the small piece I could try. Disgusting and shameful for Avila Barn.

I created this Yelp page because technically it is a restaurant owned by Avila Valley Barn, not specifically joined together. So now you can review the restaurant and not Avila Valley Barn overall if you want. Food: 4/5The food was great! We got the pulled pork sandwich, the mac'n'cheese, the chicken sandwich, artichoke, homemade pickles, and the brussel sprouts. Everything tasted very fresh and flavorful. Service: 4/5All the staff wear masks and their ordering system has a "order" and "pick-up" window. The staff are friendly and very helpful. They know their menu like the back of their hand and make sure their customers are satisfied. Decor: 4/5The outside seating is pretty nice, with some in the shade and some in the sun. However, they do not clean the tables after being used every time. The inside was just redone and it looks much better than before. It is split into the restaurant and ice cream parlor now. They do not let you eat inside though.Price: 4/5The prices are a little on the high side, but most items are worth it. Overall: 16/20, Recommended! :)
