Delicious entrees: Frutti de mare was so awesome and 20 oz dry aged prime ribeye was so amazing! And a wonderful selection of wines was a plus.

As authentic as you can get. Don't bother with any other Italian restaurant around. Wonderful food and experience. Top notch. Gennaro's, please keep everything the same!

Outstanding dining experience! My wife and I had dinner here July 16, 2021. Everything we ordered was delicious; our server Beverly was professional, courteous and personable. So much so that we shared with her that we were staying about 6 miles away at the famous Madonna Inn, celebrating a close friends' 50th birthday. It's a good thing we did; I mistakenly left my American Express card on the table after paying for our meal. We got back to the Madonna Inn where I realized I did not have my AMEX. I called Gennaro's hopping I had left it there, but they were closed. I called American Express and froze my card. When we got up the next morning, there was a note stuffed into the door jam of our room. "if this is George Carranza's room, this is Beverly from Gennaro's-you left your credit card at the restaurant. I returned it to the front desk". The next time we are in SLO, we will definitely be dining at Gennaro's! Thanks very much Beverly!

They're saving so much time here. I have never refilled a pepper grinder before. I know this because I'm pretty sure they're not called "pepper grinders". Whatever they're called, I'd want the one at this place. The thing was huge! I thought they were going to need 2 to 3 people just to pepper one person's salad. The length and sheer girth of this thing was mind blowing. They could fit so much pepper in it. I'd imagine they're restocking their pepper grinder once every year. If I had this pepper grinder at my own place, I'd only need to refill it once every 10-15 years. I really want to invest in one now. The only problem is I'd need to invite someone over every time I wanted pepper on my food. There is no way I can man this device by myself. It may be the motivation I need to not end up alone. Thank you Gennaro's for giving me a reason to not die alone and serving delicious food!

We haven't been to Gennaro's in several years, but we went last night to celebrate my husband's birthday. It was a wonderful experience. The atmosphere, food and service were extraordinary. We highly recommend it.

Food was awesome and we took it to go. Got back to the room and the food still tasted fresh.

We were looking around for a good place to have a graduation dinner, and stumbled across this little gem. I am so glad we did. The food was fantastic and the ambiance was quiet and cozy. We will definitely be returning any time we are in town!

OMG....whatta little gem this is! My husband had the best veal (real veal, not the pressed stuff) parmigiana he's ever had, I wasn't too hungry; had a HuGE Caesar salad and an appetizer of scallops that were to die for. Coming back this way in November and will make a side trip to eat here again!

Gennaro's is classic Italian to the hilt, yet reflects its Central California location well. You can order their Amarone if you like - but the wine list features Wolff Vineyards and other fine local wines. The dining room is inviting, the bar well-appointed, and what comes out of the kitchen is divine. The scallopini is particularly good.

I don't go to restauarants very often, so you can imagine that I don't often leave reviews. This restauarant is deserving of 1000 stars. First, we ordered salad, and let's just say that I've been eating salad wrong my whole life, because this salad was everything I was missing. Next, the gnocchi. Both the gnocchi and the pasta are made at the restaurant, and you can taste the difference. The service was also incredible. If you are a visitor, you should add this one-of-a-kind restaurant to your trip itinerary.

Pretty disappointing. All the reviews for this place made it seem amazing, but it was just okay. The gentleman who seated us never offered to bring us drinks nor did our server. The overwhelmed but sweet server brought us our meals and then we never saw her again. The Cioppino was $45 and had 3 bay scallops, one shrimp on top, and the rest was shredded and small chunks of fish, definitely not as described on the menu and not even close to being worth the money. My friend had a seafood pasta dish that was underwhelming, the cream sauce was barely there and not creamy. Might give this place a little more time to get it together post-pandemic.

I've been coming to SLO for years and can't believe I haven't tried this outstanding restaurant. The place is loaded with charm, great service and excellent food artfully prepared. We had purée vegetable soup, Salmon with vegetables with a light wine sauce! Everything was delicious! My new favorite place!
