Very cool ambiance and location. Food was pretty good but could use a tiny amount of refinement. The Cesar salad was quite heavy on the dressing but the greens were excellent and very fresh. The cheese crisps were a good touch but could've been more crispy and burned. The grilled cheese and tomato bisque was too oily. Both the grilled cheese and the bisque. Grilled cheese is more understandable as it was likely pan fried with butter, but along with the cheese it was very oily. The bisque shouldn't have been topped with that much oil. The fresh thyme was amazing but the oil was really off putting. There was a very strong spice in the bisque that I personally didn't like, not too bad but not for me. I think it was turmeric or something. It gave a masala vibe which I didn't like. Overall it's be nice if it had a little more vegetarian friendly option but it was good and I'd go back.

Bistro: Super friendly service, beautiful surroundings, choice of indoor or outdoor seating, convenient check-out if you're staying at the hotel. And oh, the food! Had the classic breakfast of 2 eggs, country toast, house made strawberry jam, & bacon. Perfect. No complaints. Hotel: Again, super friendly staff, very helpful as I had complicated rez, calling at last minute & changing room each day. I was very lucky. By the checkin desk is Granada branded baseball caps & amenities. Day one I stayed in #17 ADA room. I think some of the light is absorbed by the beautiful exposed brick walls. Definitely bring a personal reading light & slippers for the bathroom tile floor. The room was conveniently located ground level, steps from the parking lot.The fireplace was a nice touch & actually warms up the room, not that you'll need it. Biggest TV I've ever seen in a hotel room. Behind the bathroom wall was the bar, but close the door & the noise disappears. Anyway, people in SLO retire early, so no problem getting to sleep. Surprising for an ADA, the towel racks are very high up. The shower & toilet need grab bars, possibly a seat. I appreciated the lights in the bathroom didn't flood you with harsh fluorescent beams from hell. Impressive copal & rosewood scented lotion & hand wash was not heavily perfumed. There's individual sanitizing hand wipes, makeup remover, cotton pads & Q tips, really cool Marvis toothpaste. Four fluffy yet firm pillows, & down quilt. Robes you can buy if you want that spa feeling back home. Wow, even a refillable water bottle to use. If I ran the world, all hotel rooms would have full length mirrors. Definitely 5 stars for the rare fridge that doesn't annoyingly buzz, and quietly closing doors. Then I moved on up to room 8, Deluxe Queen. Cue angels singing. Quiet corner room in back, sunlight streaming through two windows. Same amenities, lux toiletries, comfy bedding, beautiful rug, robes, stack of books, unique furniture, fireplace & arty decor. As for the entire hotel, they weren't kidding about the exposed brick, really added to the old world charm meets modern look. Free breakfast pastries, fruit, coffee, tea, water with adjacent indoor & outdoor seating areas to lounge in, read the provided newspapers & books, even a game board. Fireplaces everywhere. Hotel is easy walk to all the downtown shops, river walkway, museums, movie theaters, & restaurants. No car needed. Absolutely no complaints. Will return next year for the SLO Film Festival, and book far in advance!

Compliments to the chef for an amazing dinner with my family tonight. We had cauliflower appetizer, brussel sprouts appetizer, caesar salad, wagyu beef tri tip, granada burger, tres leches cake and lava cake. Everything was delicious! The waiter was very helpful and very friendly. The ambiance was great. Will definitely be back soon!

We met up with 2 other couples for a 2 night getaway in SLO. It’s a charming well appointed boutique hotel. Our room #4 was small but with upscale details. Minor negative: there is no closet just a couple of hangers in front of a mirror. The first night we did hear water noises in the middle of the night in the wall near our headboard. The good news was that it did not repeat the next night. Our friend’s rooms were slightly larger and they did not have any noise issues. The hotel manager was friendly and accommodating. The complimentary sparkling wine upon arrival was a nice touch. We visited the onsite bar for pre dinner drinks which was cozy and the bartender was knowledgeable and business like. Afterwards we had dinner in the restaurant. We brought our own bottles and corkage was reasonable. We also ordered several appetizers of which only the roasted Brussels sprouts was a standout that I remember. I had the hamburger as a main and it was delicious. Service and food prep were excellent. We enjoyed the upstairs lounge with the continental breakfast. WiFi reception was spotty up there though.Parking can be challenging if you want to park behind the hotel. It seemed like there was only 6” of clearance for our wheels on either side of the car when driving down the narrow driveway. We definitely would go back. We all had a great time.Noteworthy details: Nice details showing a wonderful design aesthetic.

The restaurant was cute and the food was good. Outdoor seating was nice, I'd come back.

Horrible meal at the bistro tonight.Chicken and burger were flavorlessDrinks were meh (hint a spicy margarita is not a regular margarita with a slice of jalapeño in the glass).Worse, the table of 3 in the middle of the room had one guest speaking so loudly all the other tables noticed… we were in and out in 40 mins it was so unpleasant.

Ask to be seated with waiter Doug. I recommend this quiet, relaxed atmosphere restaurant. The drink and food was hit and miss. But overall the “hits” is worth returning. You step out of the restaurant into the buzz of morro street. It's nice to able to walk around the shops and bars and other places while you walk off the dinner and alcohol. It's located beside the Granada Hotel. The interior and exterior design is worth the visit. The patio and dining room is well designed. Except for the small tables. However is does rave as a “bistro “ If you love raw fish do not leave without trying the Albacore Cherry Crudo. I love beets and thoroughly enjoyed the beet salad. The hubby smacked his lips to the Leboke Seabass. I ordered the Wagyu Tri tip; although very flavorful it was difficult to swallow after chewing on the slice of meat. For beverage I enjoyed the Fresh start cocktail with elderflower.

Do t get me wrong, we love this place; the location, the wait staff and *mostly* the food. We both went out to celebrate my partner's birthday and came home somewhat disillusioned. Best part of the eve: our waiter (and the baguette and gelato). Chicken/couscous soup? Bland and not very flavorful. Caesar salad? Simply lettuce and not much of it for $16. They used to have croutons and strips of anchovies and now the fish “is in the sauce because ppl don't expect sardines in their salad”. Meh. If this were our first experience, we would not be able to recommend this. Bad night? Yes, this time.

My husband and I were delighted to spend a night at the Granada. The service was gracious and generous -- from our greeting by Sam, the hotel's manager, to our servers at the cocktail bar and the bistro, to the wonderful housekeeping staff who went the extra mile to help us find a couple of things we left in the room. We felt welcomed and pampered. And there are so many beautiful and delightful touches throughout the hotel -- the artwork and photography, the historic books and artifacts (ask about the piano workings in the lobby and stairwell), the beautiful common area and deck. And our room was gorgeous -- comfy bed, aesthetic features, fireplace, beautiful shower. And the location is... perfect! Right downtown, but feels like a quiet sidestreet. Great for exploring SLO. Our only regret was that we couldn't stay another night or two. We will be back! Many thanks for your warm hospitality, and keep up the great work!

Stayed a Tuesday night as a pit stop on our way up to Northern California and read great things about the hotel! We unfortunately arrived pretty late around 10:40pm due to traffic, but were still able to check in since the lobby closes at 11pm. The person working check-in seemed kind of annoyed that we arrived late, but was still nice and poured us glasses of Rosé, so that was a nice touch after driving for 4 hours straight. The room itself was very clean and pretty spacious for what I was expecting. The shower had a window in it which cracked up my fiancé and I, and can definitely see what people mean by it really being a hotel for couples and not kids. The bed was so comfy and even with how old the building is seemed like it had good insulation and wasn't loud like some other reviews mentioned. If you don't live in the city and aren't used to just noises here and there, you might consider it noisy, but even coming from quiet suburbs it wasn't noisy for us. My only issue was the outlet near the sink didn't work at all so I couldn't plug in my hair styling products, but no problem, I just used the one by the bed. They have Greek yogurt and pastries in the morning and since we were out pretty early and had to get back on the road it was a perfect little bite to start our day. We'd be happy to come back and is definitely worth a stay!

Used to be one of my favorite restaurants for breakfast and dinner but haven't been back in about 7 months. I'm not sure when they changed the menu but its definitely gotten worse. Idk if its seasonal but they got rid of their ahi tacos, which are the best ahi tacos I've had and were my favorite item at the restaurant. Brunch menu isn't great either.

Love this place it's small but we love to sit outside in the patio all tables have a heater if needed and it's a good ambiance . Service is great and the menu is a little limited but great burgers and their Brussels are amazing . It's one of our go to places when we visit our son at CP.

Service was helpful and thoughtful though sometimes a bit slow. I was disappointed that the recipe for my favorite entree (sea bass) had been changed; the server conveyed this to the chef.

The ambiance is great with really stylish design but that's the only positive. They masquerade as a 5 star experience(with 5 Star prices) but the management and food are just pathetic. They were overbooked, but didn't tell me when I checked in before my rez, so when we came back we had to wait. They said they'd comp us some champagne but when they came out with it they gave it to another couple, lol. The cheese plate was pathetic a bitter, spicy cheese, something they said was a triple cream that was clearly a manchego, and a bland beer cheese. The crostini were carved from granite, edges of blades, piercing the roof of your mouth. The Salmon bisque was so bland and underseasoned. The halibut was absolutely scorched and dry, covered in cloyingly sweet apricot puree, and atop a broken dry cake of couscous. The desserts were bland and the plating was hilariously bland. The cheescake looked like it was tokyo drifting off the plate. The chocolate panna cotta was hilariously bad. I've seen prettier piping come out of my labrador on our morning walks. Skip the bistro, try to get a seat at the bar next door if you want to check it out.
