I'd never been to Maldonados so I was eager to try a new Mexican restaurant in SLO. I saw they had a Taco Tuesday special in Menus magazine, so I pulled up at about 3PM on a Tuesday ... and the place was locked and bolted! I checked both entrances just to make sure, but it was completely shut down. This despite the fact that they had a giant "Now Open!" sign right in front of the restaurant! I've had several experiences like this in SLO and it's always frustrating. Why have a business, why advertise, why put out big "We're Open!" signs and then just be closed at random times during regular business hours? Maybe I'm coming off as a whiner, but isn't this just a tad irresponsible? Isn't it kind of a middle finger to your customers? C'mon businesses - you have customers out here who want to support you. Why are you making it so difficult for us?

I was in town visiting and for dinner I was craving cheese enchiladas with mole sauce. Based on people’s reviews I chose to come Maldonado’s. I am a particular of where I eat. I ordered enchiladas with mole sauce and omg they were delicious. I ate all of them even though I was full. I recommend this restaurant.

Maldonados has a somewhat funky location because it is connected to a motel, but I was pleasantly surprised by my experience there. The people working were kind, the prices were great for a big plate of Mexican food in this area, and the food was good.

I just got the Enchiladas de Mole and they were excellent! I finally found an authentic mexican restaurant in SLO that makes their own mole sauce!!!Thank You Maldonados!

We had the combo enchiladas de mole and it was amazing. At first it threw me off with the word mole and since I don’t like mole being sweet I was skeptical. But I’m glad I took a chance on the meal. It reminded me of my mom’s cooking. The sauce was like a mix between the enchilada sauce and the mole from Michoacan. we also got the quesadilla with Carnitas and that was really good. The food and restaurant is highly recommended and worth the trip from Hanford CA.

I'm always glad to stop by and get Maldonados. The food is really good and you can tell the tortillas are homemade and fresh. The service is always friendly and accommodating. The al pastor sopes are my husbands favorite, I really like the wet maldonado burrito. My daughters love the quesadillas which are huge!! Parking can be a little tricky but you can park right in front on the street. It's a very laidback environment with good food.
