Every time I visit the Nautical Bean Coffee Shop on Orcutt Street, they have a rotating art gallery which will capture your interest!

Good foo and coffee, good service with a positive attitude and cool ambience! Make sure to look at the details on the artwork on the walls.

one of my favorite coffee shops in slo. it's essentially a cafe as an addition to their art bunker! chairs with backs (essential for working for a bit!) are surrounded by lovely plants and work done by local artists. my favorite to get is the black and white iced latte. the chocolate they use is soooo rich and sweet, not really good for a daily thing but definitely a treat. an iced black and white with a vermont maple scone is the perfect breakfast to get me to sit down and work for a little bit. they are also open a bit later than other places!

I went to Nautical Bean for a late breakfast and coffee. I chose poorly on both counts. I should have known that a breakfast burrito made with cream cheese and white rice, along with more typical ingredients, was not for me. I did try by ordering the kitchen sink burrito, which didn't have cream cheese listed as an ingredient on the menu board, but alas, cream cheese appeared in all its mushy, slightly sour glory. I've never been a fan of hot, plain cream cheese, and the texture it created with the rice and the gummy wrap (I can't bring myself to call it a tortilla) was really unappetizing to me. Also, no coffee house should serve a Mexican mocha iced unless they have conquered the challenge of dissolving Mexican chocolate completely. I should have known this, so I drank the gritty, chunky mess as penance. I'm sure it would have been good served hot, so I'll try that next time. And I will try Nautical Bean again, but only as a traditional coffee house.

The food has let me down most of the time besides the ham and cheese croissants. The cashiers always have an attitude like too cool to be there and no one really smiles..They forgot my croissant at least twice waiting over ten minutes, with no one ahead of me. I stopped getting bacon bagels because the bacon is really gummy, even if I ask for crispy. (I've thrown the bacon away before, sacrilege) So I decided to try the breakfast burrito. The hash brown were mushy, the eggs were really fluffy, so mushy.. there was one piece of bacon which added some texture and it was hot.? Then add on cream cheese, cheese, salsa and microwave veggies.. soo, umm whole burrito was goo wrapped in a tortilla. For $9.25 plus $2 tip... I'm definitely feeling ripped off for 5inch breakfast burrito. I'm hungry so maybe it'll be better if I let it congeal for while?! (Already looking better in the picture after sitting, woohoo!) None of this would be that bad but the staff is a bit unapproachable so I don't want to complain. Maybe this will reach the right person? As I said, ham and cheese croissants are on point. I'll still go in 1 day week instead of 4 to 6 ? You can only eat so many croissants a week.
