Ive been coming here all of my life, ever since it was grandpa allens back in the 80s and 90s. The problem is that it's impossible to get a table on the weekends. My entire family waited for 2 hours one day and by the time we actually were seated everyone was kind of annoyed and it wasn't even enjoyable. There are plenty of good restaurants around to be sitting outside for hours on a Sunday. I have to give them 1 star for service

While on vacation, my son took me here.Loved everything about it. Family owned and run. Chances of a family member serving you is great. Coffee was perfect, and the old-fashioned shredded hash browns were yummy.If you want to get in right away, go by 9 am. Otherwise, you may have an hour or more wait time. That says a lot about Mama Kat's!Miss you as I am back on the East Coast, but I will be back!Parking: Lot was full when I went but was able to find street parking before 9 amOtherwise, it may be challenging.

Nice little Cafe, very expensive.. Eggs Florentine and they charged me $3 more than the menu price and then $5 for raw spinach and a little extra sauce.. In all about $30 for breakfast, it was good.. But not that good.

I consider myself a waffle connoisseur. Every where I've searched all of San Diego for a good waffle. It seems most places just put pancake batter in a waffle iron and call it a waffle. That is not a waffle. Waffles have a different batter, a different taste, and a different texture. And to my disappointment most places don't even give you real butter. Gross. Mama Kat's nailed it! They made the perfect waffle! Crispy outer edge with the delicate fluffy dough of a real waffle. Taste fabulous. Every last bite. Mama Kat's also has a fantastic coffee bar and homemade fresh fruit juices and specialty drinks. Their fresh homemade pies in their case looked spectacular. I didn't try one being I was so full from the delicious breakfast I had just ate. Service was top notch. The joint was clean. I couldn't have been more pleased with this place. I give it 10 stars out of 5 or an 11 out of 10 for breakfast places in North County!

This is a great place for breakfast you do need to get there early if you want to get seated right away. Get there before 8:00 on the weekend. Food staff and service are usually great. Only downside is they get very busy, parking gets packed and wait can be long. They don't take reservations.Parking: Gets packed during busy times of day.
