I have been searching for a good place to purchase fresh wild-caught fish. Most fish I have purchased in the supermarket has been too salty or just not very fresh. The last few years, the only type of fish I've eaten is shellfish which I believe is not the healthy kind of fish. Today, I visited Fish and Poultry in San Mateo for the very first time in my quest to find fresh fish in order to make my diet healthier. I left there with two kinds of fish -- a white, flaky fish I believe is Perch and a very high grade salmon, which the owner was kind enough to give me a sample. I prepared the Perch by simply sautéing it in a little olive oil. That's all. No salt or seasonings. It was truly delicious and a real treat for my palate! It was so fresh without even a hint of salt (I am on a limited salt diet but also I don't care for the taste of salt) or fishy odor. I will be back to purchase more fish. Thank you.

Everyone here is Rude AF! I stopped shopping here just because how crappy people treat you its like your bothering them. As a prof chef of 35 years, I purchase a-lot of seafood. They woulda made a killing off us!

Absolutely love this place - been going here since the new owner took over. He and his staff are very helpful. The scallops are the biggest and the best I have ever tasted. Also tried their newest product, jams and jellies - They were excellent, too.Highly recommend!!

This shop has great selections of homemade sausages. They are pricier the ones you find in your supermarket. But they taste much better. I highly recommend their bratwursts and their spicy Thai curry chicken sausages; they are amazing.

If you're looking for fresh seafood for yourself, small or large gathering...look no further.Dragon Baby is the real deal.Fresh fish.Incredible and knowledge service.My favorite so far is their Branzino!Used to have to wait til Sundays to catch them at the Farmer's Market by CSM or occasionally on Tuesdays off 25th Avenue.Including a photo of one next to a spatula just to give you a sense of scale. You won't find these at any standard grocery store.

Ordered fresh crab from here. They text you when it's ready to pick up. It was super fresh. Probably the best crab I've ever had. Would definitely recommend this place.

Met the new owner at the San Mateo farmer's market today where I got some fresh sea bass and halibut - looks amazing! I am so glad to hear this place is under new ownership and sounds like they are bringing in fresh fish every week - I'll be going to the storefront very soon.
Under new owners in spring 2022--they are super friendly and very eager to earn loyal customers. I visited only a few times in the past, but was never excited about the fish selection or the chicken sausages. Now with the new owners, and they carry pork and beef as well as fish and chicken. The pork sausages in the case by the door are fantastic. when I walked in recently I was surprised to find all the display fish/poultry cases empty, but the owners said they are keeping everything in the walk-in in the back until foot traffic increases. The product stays fresher longer that way. They have the selection/menu on some TVs mounted high on the wall, so bring your glasses. one warning--they carry somewhat "high end" fish (it's delicious, but be prepared to spend $20+/lb.)

Under new management! The new owners are great. They have an excellent selection of seafood. Always fresh. I had a great conversation with Maynard. So far, I bought salmon, branzino and cod. All of it has been top quality. They also have amazing sausage from Petaluma as well as some local meats. You have check this place out!

I had never visited under previous ownership, but the new owners are doing a great job. The guys are super knowledgeable and the fish is top notch. Best ahi I've ever bought from a store. Yesterday wondered in and got super fresh trout that was delicious. Highly recommend!!

I'm writing this review because this place has gotten one heck of a horrible reputation based on the the past owners/operators. I can assure you, that is not the case as of today. The new owner took over as 11/2021. Super excited because I met them in person for the first time and they're now owned by a new local fisherman and he's got some excellent clams, oysters, and some really nice sea urchins.He has fresh stock every day and I've seen him every morning on my walk pulling into the back with the fresh catch from the night before. He's completely cleaned the place up has the upmost in fresh meats and seafood. I'm definitely headed back for the holidays and will be giving him my business.
