A great choice when you crave comfort food. The ingredients used in their desserts are fresh and tasty. The service is very friendly. Its Hong Kong street scene interior makes it a fun spot for casual hangouts.

We been here before a couple of years ago. The store serves authentic honkong street food and dessert. As I know, they only open at night. When you come in, it feels like you are going back time wise with the interior decoration. The menu has grown since our last visit. I feel overwhelmed with the menu. There are too many to choose from. We ended up ordered egg puff, almond and black sesame paste, and ginger egg puding. They are good except the egg puff, kind of not as good as before. The service was good, and the server was responsive.

I love this cafe it's open late and the dessert is just amazing!!! The Super Mango is my absolute favorite. Their crepes are amazing and the Tai-chi almond and sesame paste is sooo yummy and different just what you need on a cold day! The owner is so nice and welcoming. I forgot my bag and he came out to the parking looking for me! Awesome place and a must try!

I appreciate the creativity like the sushi shave ice. Fun vintage Hong Kong decor. First I've seen. Thou the taste is only so-so. The Hong Kong Mike tea was just ok.. Still worth checking it out.

Dessert Republic is a typical hong kong style cafe located right next to the public parking garage. They are a small cafe/restaurant that has a friendly waiter who was hustling to serve everyone as best as he could by himself. He recommended the black sesame paste and sesame balls (tang yuan). We thoroughly enjoyed all of it!You can also order to go if you dont wanna sit down and eat.Would definitely recommend if you want some thing more hong kong style from downtown san mateo!

Super cute interior and really solid traditional desserts! Almond paste was great ?

They charge you for water so you want to buy their drinks, and their drinks are as plain as water but as expensive as food. Worst dessert shop I have been to for sure.

The portion is small. The taste is salty. They also charge you for water.

Went there with a few friends, so got to try a little bit of everything. The hot Hong Kong milk tea with condensed milk was suuuuuper good, creamy, comforting, and not too sweet. The tapioca milk tea was a bit too sweet for me, but it had a nice brown sugar flavor. The strawberry tea tasted like candy, which my friend loved. The garlic noodles were good, but our favorite noodle dish was the Tokyo stir fried noodles. They were sooo good, savory, a bit sweet, and wonderfully umami. We also tried the mango chicken rice and the spam and egg rice, and liked them both a lot. The rice dishes came in a bigger serving size than the noodle dishes. The desserts were gorgeous and tasty. We especially liked the ice cream dishes, and the stars of the milky way. Our server was really cool. He was friendly and helpful, and we had a nice conversation. The atmosphere was casual and cozy, and the ceiling and walls were covered by murals, which was pretty cool.
