Waited about 20 minutes for the food. Very nice server though. Got the beef negi maki with shumai and tempura combo, tasted good but more like Chinese-Japanese fusion than Chinese. Friend got ahort ribs, and it tasted a bit pre-prepared though the flavor was good. Very pretty amd clean place, clean bathrooms too. Though, don't make special requests, especially on sashimi, or you might find an extra $3 charge on your bill.Wheelchair accessibility: Accedible bathrooms and tables but no parking for wheelchairs

My new favorite sushi spot! Love coming here to have lunch with my brother. I usually order dragon or California roll, and my brother usually gets beef teriyaki or beef ribs. Yum yum.

I've never had to send sushi back before. They had "tuna" that was dyed red. The flavor of the sashimi was awful. Still cold from being frozen. They were kind enough to only charge for what we had eaten. I won't be coming back.

The sushi we ordered was just bad. The spicy tuna roll and spicy hamachi roll were wet and didn't have any spicy element. The sushi was wet with something, what would make sushi wet and falling apart? The tempura roll wasn't rolled properly so it was falling apart. Salmon teriyaki was burned. The firecracker roll was just gross and the description was very misleading.

Big bang for your buck place. A good variety of menu options. Prices are reasonable when considering the quantity given. The restaurant can accommodate small or large parties. Service is efficient.

I have gone here several times since my last review. This is very good Japanese for a very reasonable price. The Bento boxes are great with many exciting variations. The Service is friendly as everyone is amazing. The place is comfortable and inviting. But the food is where it is at. Do yourself a favor and go and enjoy some delicious Japanese Sushi and Sashimi and Teriyaki.... So much yummy can't list it all. I really enjoy this place. It is absolutely worth the 30minute drive it takes me to get there. The ride home is always very smiley after eating here.

Sushi is definitely on the lower end. I tried almost all of their nigiri sushi, and the fish was not that fresh. Prices are reasonable, but quality is substandard. If you want at least mid-range sushi, skip this restaurant.

Ni-Mo is our go-to sushi and bento box destination in San Mateo! Over the years, we have gotten familiar with both the menu and staff. if you can, sit at the sushi bar and strike up a foodie convo with the chef ... it can result in quicker service and favorable helpings. It can also be crowded on weekends with the locals and weekday lunch with the business and student community. So if you are able to wait to eat before the end of lunch, you'll find a more relaxed and spacious atmosphere to slowly enjoy your food. Park in the garage on 2nd Avenue.

Sashimi was very poor quality! Took one bite of tuna and it was obviously off. We couldn’t eat it. Told the waitress and the sushi “chef”, they gave no apologies or offers to give us something else. The rest of it was pretty unappetizing. Worst sushi experience in the Bay Area in 25 years! We paid the full bill and will not return. You can find supermarket sushi that is better than this. Can’t understand why this place has good ratings.

Delicious food! Lots of variety with bento boxes - huge portions and good prices! I loved bento-box B! So delicious! The tempura was lightly battered. The california roll - best I've ever had! The short ribs were tender! I would come here again! I think I found my new and favorite japanese restaurant!Parking: There is street parking - but you have to pay $1.50/hour if before 6 PM on a weekday. After that, its free!

The food was OK until I tasted a sour, gone-bad white tuna. I raised the issue to the chef and server, and they turned hostile to us. They kept saying all the fish was fresh, and that it was me who was wrong. I don't know how tasting bad sashimi is a problem of a customer. I asked the chef to try the sashimi piece, and he refused to do so, saying that he can guarantee the quality. I was shocked by the food quality of this restaurant and the way they treat their customers. Don't order sashimi or sushi, unless you enjoy such unpleasant experience.
