This review is regarding the size of the cake and the price. Was way too small for what you are charging.

We drove all the way from Fremont to check this place out. The shop was a bit hard to find. It's actually inside a Poke place, so don't look for a sign that says, Oh My wheel cake. We tried taro, matcha, red beans, and custard. Our favorites were Matcha and custard. Definitely pop them in the oven briefly to warm it up a bit before serving. We got 4 cakes for about $20. The 3 cakes assorted box is only available online.

The outside may be shady but I guarantee that the quality of the food is not. The wheelcakes are a one-of-a-kind that I've never seen any restaurant sell before. Due to COVID-19, they only make them fresh on-demand now. Takes about 5-10 minutes to make, and you can't call or order online ahead.

For the custard one, I took it out of the fridge after it's thawed and followed their instruction (350F for 10 minutes), and then I toasted both sides for 2 extra minutes for crispy surface. Since I grew up in Taiwan eating these fresh, I hate eating soft ones. It came out wonderfully. I might update after I tried their red bean and matcha ones since I ordered their variety pack. I hope they will sell taro in some kind of variety pack too in the future. From what I have read, those are one of their best.

Great company that stands by their product!!! There was an issue with UPS shipping and I reached out on Instagram and Oh My Wheelcake made it right. My mom will now get these delicious desserts in time for valentine's day and to celebrate Chinese new year. Definitely recommend this place!

Sometimes I dream of the wheel cakes. I grew up eating wheel cakes made by Asian aunties outside of Asian supermarkets in the San Gabriel Valley, so moving to the Bay Area, I had to look for a wheel cake place. I don't think they make them super fresh for every customer, but they're pretty great if you get them warmed up and it's convenient if you want to take frozen ones home. The custard one is my fave. The red bean one is pretty good too but there's a lot of filling and red bean can be pretty dry. Pretty pricy but everything's pricy these days. Nice worker. The place is in a poke place and I also got some poke which was good.

It's so worth it I've always been a fan of wheel cake, I would have multiple a day whenever I'm in Japan. When I first came across this store, I was a little hesitant, I used to be able to get it outside of ranch 99 in SoCal. It was much cheaper but the quality is not good, so I assume this would be similar to those. I finally jumped on the wagon last week and wow! Just wow! It tasted even better than the freshly made ones I had in JP it was like biting into heaven, the dough was crispy but so soft inside! Like soufflé! The custard was milky, creamy and not too sweet! I'll definitely try other flavors next time! I'm so grateful for Ohmywheelcake! Thanks for doing what you do!

Wheelcakes are one of my favorite street snacks in Taiwan, but somehow they haven't made much of a splash in the Bay Area. They're kind of like a mix of Japanese dorayaki and taiyaki, and the best have a generous soft filling and a nice crispy exterior. I'd seen pictures of Oh My WheelCake all over Instagram recently and was itching to give it a try, which I finally got to over the weekend. The wheelcakes are sold from inside Poke Island, across the street from Wursthall. The day we went, they were closed between 2pm and 5pm, so we dropped by a little after they opened for the evening. This ended up being a good choice because it meant we got freshly made wheelcakes. I'd seen some reviews saying that they just reheated frozen ones, so I would recommend arriving just after they open and being willing to wait for fresh ones (it's about a 5-minute wait). If you're looking for a particular flavor, you may want to opt for earlier since there's a possibility they'll run out of some flavors later in the day. I only got the red bean and the matcha custard wheelcakes, but both were amazing. They don't skimp on the filling at all, as you can tell from the picture. In fact, there was so much filling in the matcha one that it kept threatening to ooze out when I was eating it. I did have to take off one star because one of my wheelcakes was a little burnt on one side (though it was still delicious). Also, one wheelcake costs $3.95 -- I know I can't make comparisons to prices in Taiwan, but it was a bit of a shock. All in all, though, I would definitely come back again.

I bought red bean, mutcha, and purple yam flavor. I'm Taiwanese, as my memory, the outside shall be crispy and soft inside, but the cake is soft outside, inside filling tastes alright, not bad. 3.95/ea is a bit pricey for one small cake tho. And sometimes the flavor ran out, so better call and ask before visiting.

We ordered two pieces of wheel cakes this morning and asked if they would be freshly made. The big chef guy said they will be freshly made. At $4 per piece, they better be freshly made. Instead, we saw him microwaving instead. So we asked again if they are freshly made or microwaved from frozen. He again said they are freshly made. Then he brought them out of microwave and put in a bag for us. They are obviously soggy and tasted gross. Big waste of money at $4 a piece. Do not buy from them. You can pay for a lot less just by going to Ranch99 and microwave yourself. I want my money back!

I've been craving wheel cakes forever!!! It's a Taiwanese dessert that's been super hard to find here. I've found some that don't taste good - either the dough is too doughy/thick and not crispy enough or the filling is meh. Oh my wheelcake hits it out of the park with their wheel cakes! My fav is sesame! Custard and Nutella is yummy too! It's amazing that you can get the frozen and bake them to make it crispy again! I'm going to try my air fryer next time they also just started shipping so get your fix now!

THIS IS MY FAVORITE DESSERT and MUST GET whenever I'm in Taiwan. Thus, when I found out about this place, I placed an order immediately. I've tried: Matcha- not a fan Ube-this one is good, but a bit too starchy for me Taro- this is absolutely my favorite, and probably the only one I'll order moving. White Sesame- this one can be skipped. Vanilla Custard- second favorite I always heat them in my toaster oven and need more than the time on the instruction manual. Usually I put them for 20 minutes! I usually order them online and then pick them up at the store. Thank goodness i checked the last time I went because they forgot an item ( i ordered 4 packs of three, and was only given 3). If you are a taro fan, definitely come here for the taro wheelcakes.

Oh my! Wheel cakes have come to San Mateo! While it's not the first wheel cake offering in the bay, this specific dessert is a rarity among Japanese and Taiwanese restaurants. If you look hard enough, you'll find them available, but never with such a variety of flavors. They are currently operating in Poke Island CreAsian Kitchen where you can order these daily baked treats, or order online for pickup. They also offer frozen wheel cakes for national delivery. You can only order in sets of 3 right now. When they first opened, they only offered a single flavor in a set, but now they have pre-selected mixed boxes. Hopefully they allow individual orders or more customization in the future. They also sometimes run slightly discounted promotions, so check their website for updates. With your order, there's reheating instructions for the oven or microwave. I prefer the oven so the outside is a little crispier. If you've never had these before, they're like a stuffed pancake with the sturdiness of a waffle. The flavors I tried were: Vanilla Custard - The best flavor, as the inside is a creamy, milky, and lightly sweetened smooth custard with a hint of vanilla. Matcha Green Tea Custard - Did not have the same creamy consistency as the vanilla custard. It tastes more like matcha bread pudding inside, so pretty doughy. Would be loads better if it was the same as the vanilla custard, but mixed with matcha. Chocolate & Nuts - Pretty much melted nutella, with large chunks of walnuts and peanuts. It'd taste better if it was more similar to Ferrero Rocher or had better chopped nuts. Oh My WheelCake does the concept and aesthetics well. There are some things they can do to improve the overall desire for these, such as making the fillings more smooth and less doughy, selling them individually, and allowing them to be purchased right when they're done baking. Currently, they are being flash frozen right after they are made to expedite their service and to preserve the integrity of the wheel cakes. There are certainly people who will want to eat freshly made ones that offer the same experience of getting one from a street market in Taiwan.

Never had a wheel cake before and got the variety pack. Used the toaster oven to heat it up and ate it with a strong cup of coffee. So good! The vanilla is my favorite so far but have a couple more to try. Looking forward to dessert tonight...
