First you eat the BEST cannoli in the Bay Area - then...ice creams and freshly baked cuccidati. You will be happy for the rest of your life.

I've been a patron of Romolo’s for quite some time now. Their cannolis are some of the best in the entire Bay Area, even surpassing some I've tried in Italy. The key aspect is that they prepare your order in front of you, which sets their establishment apart as one of the best. Unlike most places that have their cannolis pre-filled and waiting for customers, at Romolo’s, the shell never gets soggy. On your first bite, you experience a satisfying crunch, which is crucial. The ricotta filling, if you opt for the classic, is light, airy, and creamy, just as it should be.

I could wax poetic here, but why? It's the real deal. If you like cannoli, it's sitting here in San Mateo with authentic Italian cookies and cannoli. The gelati is delicious. The cannoli kits are so much fun. You buy the kit and fill at home when you want to serve knowing the shells will be perfectly crisp. And they actually know what a cannolo is and won't correct you, like other places. "I'd like a panino, please." "You mean a panini?" Ugh! If you know Madonia Brothers and are dreaming of Arthur Avenue, roll on over to Romolo's. You won't be disappointed.

Typed "cannoli" in google maps and Romolo's Cannoli in San Mateo popped up and we couldn't have been more happier with this find. We really enjoyed the freshness of the cannolis and the options of flavors and toppings. We were especially happy to learn of the story of the store and how the grandson of the original owner is continuing the legacy by introducing modern and traditional items on their menu. Excited to go back and get more cannolis and to try some other authentic Italian treats. Love to support local businesses!

Craving an Italian dessert, we were led to this place. Cute small shop, friendly people. Ice cream and desserts in the fridge section, cannolis on the counter. You get choices for each cannoli. Plain or chocolate inside cone. Original, pistachio or chocolate filling. Sides of chocolate chip, pistachio, cherries. It is crispy and flavorful. It would have been great with an espresso or tea but so yummy.

This is very nice cute cannoli spot in San Mateo that one must visit if you like Cannolis! My fiance and I were taking a walk around the area and decided to swing by for dessert. This is a mom and pop shop and we got to meet the current owner who said this store has been running for over 50 years! Turns out his grandparents started it. The owner was super duper helpful and we ended up ordering: * cannoli with ricotta filling and pistachio/chocolate topping. This was delicious, fresh, creamy and crunchy * ice cream cannoli - we got this with the vanilla toffee ice cream and gosh, my fiancé finished this before I could say holy cannoli!! You can see how yummy it was. Overall the food was great and as someone who hasn't tried the ice cream cannoli I personally really enjoyed it. Would go back for more!

Omgggggg the cannolis here are good, and I say this as someone who grew up in the greater Boston area and was not very into cannolis growing up. The filling is really smooth and importantly, NOT TOO SWEET. We tried both fillings but somewhat to my surprise, I liked the traditional filling even better than the tiramisu. The light citrus flavor just complemented the pistachio perfectly. I would definitely go for an ice cream cannoli if I stop by again, as it's the Romolo specialty. The owner was also super friendly and helped explain how the kits work--buy prefilled if you're eating within 6 hours; buy a kit for anything other than same-day.

Have been coming here for years and always love coming back. Super cute Italian dessert shop with fairly easy street parking. Family owned and the people working are always friendly and accommodating. The spumoni wedge is my absolute favorite. My mom is a fan of the cannoli with traditional filling. Look forward to coming back again!

Wonderful cannolis in the Peninsula! The staff is so nice and accommodating as we had a bunch of questions on placing a bigger order. I like how they offer mini sizes! I suggest eating day off as the shells do get soggy (unless you like it soggy lol). Definitely give this local business a try!!

I'd just like to say that everything here is handmade and absolutely delicious. They have an ice cream flavor called Unicorn something and it is made out of the cookies they have. It is to die for. I'd also like to add that the woman helping at the front is SO NICE. SOOO NICE. As a person of color, sometimes frequenting white establishments can be a hit or miss. This was such a hit because this woman was so friendly to us, explained the menu and made some very cute small talk with me and my partner. I'd just like to thank her for how inviting she is and for how delicious the treats were. Support local business y'all.

There aren't many Cannoli shops in the Peninsula, like shops specifically dedicated to quality, freshly-made, Italian Cannoli's. But walking by this place and the authentic Italian curb appeal it gave me, I was enticed to try it out with the kids. They of course opted for the ice cream, which they devoured while sitting on the cafe tables inside. I couldn't decide what I wanted, there's so much to choose from as a first timer here. So I went for their mini cannoli. They basically cut in half a regular longer cannoli, I wasn't expecting that. I chose the regular filling with pistachios and chocolate chips on each side. The shell was perfectly crispy and the ricotta filling not too sweet. A good portion for me. It was satisfying! It would be fun if they had more options for flavors of the ricotta filling or for the garnishes. I love the option to buy an ice cream filled cannoli or other treats from their fridge. You can even buy a cannoli making kit so you can fill it yourself at home. I had so many questions because I hadn't tried a lot of the treats, but it was hard to find someone to ask that wasn't busy doing something else, even though we were the only ones in the shop. Check out their story posted on the wall. I love this personal touch! I'd go back. Looking forward to trying more treats here.

Picked up some Cannoli for 3 households the other day. 2 choices of filling, original and tiramisu, chocolate lined or not shell and ends dipped in chocolate chips, pistachio nuts, or dried cherry bits. Friendly service, a bit pricey, but everything has gone up in price, and you pay for quality. Everyone loved them. A real treat! I'll be back for more when in the area.

Delicious desserts. Old style but very good desserts! Wish they had more tables. We try to stop whenever we are passing!
