I don't know how this place isn't packed full of patrons!! I didn't take photos because we wolfed the food down too fast. We ordered a cauliflower tapas dish, chicken tikka masala, and a tandoori chicken. Everything was delicious!! The server was great as well, and the food came out pretty quickly. We'll be back!

How is it that this place have high ratings is beyond me. We were fooled by the rating and the cute swings It was four of us visiting this restaurant for the first time and we were all equally disappointed and reminded us to stick to mom and pops indian restaurants. Butter chicken and Tikka was the blandest indian food we have ever had. We asked for chilis on the side and something to make it more flavorful and to give it that real indian spiciness that we're used to The sauce was super watery, just awful!!Very, very disappointing indian food. Place was also empty, so maybe our food was cooked from frozen? Waste of Money.

Saag and chicken tikka masala were so good! Love that they came with rice. Naan was also very soft and tasty. The Biryani was good but very spicy for us. The man who served us was not very friendly or attentive. I had to get up to get my own box. The place was super cute (love the swing chairs!) but empty when we went. I'm worried they might not make it. This location has gone through about 3 restaurants in recent years. Nothing seems to stick. Their food is good so if they can improve their service and do some marketing to get more people in the door, this would be a great place!

I was at the gym and craving Indian food and I found this place on Yelp. How it has a the rating it has is astounding to me. I have never and I mean ever had worse, cheaper quality garbage with less flavor. I threw most of it away as it was tasteless mushy soggy trash. I had the butter chicken and it was a watery pinkish color with zero spice or flavor. Trader Joe's frozen is better. The chicken 65 was wet and soggy and also completely tasteless. Even the simplest thing to cook tandoori chicken was bland. What a waste of money. I'll stick with curry up which is two doors down.

Been here twice now. Both times I enjoyed my overall experience here. Tried many of the Veggie Starters- the cauliflower kempu, crispy chilli paratha and the ginger fried idly were great. For the main both times I got the jackfruit biriyani. I have never had jackfruit biriyani and it was a really interesting dish. Great flavours and quite filling! All in all it was a great experience :)

So delicious! Ordered the masala dosa, paneer wrap, cauliflower kempu, and samosa chaat. Everything was delicious, but the cauliflower and paneer wrap were our favorites. We'll definitely eat here again.

The ordering experience is a little different but efficient ( using a QR code to order and pay ) The food was tasty, we tried the chicken 65 tacos, paneer chili and keema pav. The only disappointing dish was the fried parotha which wasn't to our liking as it was too crisp. The desserts are absolutely delicious we tried the gulab jamun cheesecake, cronut and Ras Malai tres leches cake. The interior could use a little TLC but all in all a good experience and we will return.

Naan, Biriyani, and curries were exceptionally good. I recommend trying this place. Preferred the food here over other places I have tried in the area. Definitely well worth trying a few items

The food here is great! Love love love the south Indian fish curry - we get it every single time. Samosas and dosas are good too, as are most things we've tried, though I will admit sometimes their meats are not very tender. Spicy means spicy. Do not get the chili naan unless you really want SPICY. Yes, it may feel a bit strange when you seat yourself, order through a QR code, and pay through the QR code too, but hey it's efficient. Also yes, there's like one guy working the entire restaurant, which I'm sure is tough and possibly a difficult thing to change (labor shortage? great resignation?), so kudos to him for keeping everything running the best he can.

Tasty indian cuisine with a bit of a westernized twist. Definitely sates a curry craving! The seating is clean and comfortable, and the service is prompt. I'll be recommending to my friends!

Post workout was craving some Indian food so I decided to give Southern Spice a try. We ordered our food by the QR code on the table and paid through the phone which was a bit odd but we went with it. Ordered chicken tiki masala, butter chicken and 3 orders of naan bread. It was delicious and it was very filling!

Walked by this morning, on my way to pick up coffee. The first thing I noticed were the two tables full of dirty dishes from last night. Every time I walk by this place I look inside and admire the unique tables and floating benches. My husband and I have been wanting to give it a try, but after seeing this and reading other reviews. We will not be interested in going there

I'm conflicted about this one. The vegetarian dishes were fantastic but the 2 chicken dishes we had were meh. I'll definitely want to go back and try more things from their extensive menu. Spice levels varied wildly from dish to dish, even though we wanted everything spicy. Service was good, but the only menu they have is a QR code leading to a labyrinth style website menu, very difficult to navigate! At the very least they could put a pdf of the menu on the website. I went outside and took pictures of the menu in the window, which made it easier to peruse on my phone. So, I'm sharing the pics. :)

Ordered Chicken Tikka Biryani and it was delicious . This is the first time we tasted jackfruit biryani in dallas/irving and it was amazing. Portions, pieces and freshness all were good. Our regular order of Vijayawada Veg Biryani also tastes good, the portion of rice and kofta style vegetables is consistent.

Southern Spice Kitchens in San Mateo is one of our favorite Indian restaurants in the Bay Area. All the dishes that we got were so good! They do not go easy on the spicy level, so be more careful if you cannot handle the heat (the yogurt sauce really helped for the super spicy dishes). Service and ambiance of the restaurant are amazing as well. What we got: Vijayawada Biryani, Garlic Naan, Butter Chicken, Chettinad Kuzhambu, 60 MM Dosa
