Very nice place, I went with my family and ordered a fried mojarra, it was very delicious, although the beans were not to my liking. I also ordered a shrimp ceviche and unfortunately I didn't like it, it had too much onion and lacked a little more flavor. I will return but I don't recommend the ceviche

Because you order at front , pay and pick up your food at the front as well.Food is delicious and the portions are descent for the price.They sell chapulines too.Note: no parkin.

This and their South SF location are my favorite Mexican restaurants in the Bay. The food is beyond delicious, the servers go above and beyond to be helpful, and I have never had a bad experience here. They have meals you can’t find anywhere else. 100% recommend.

I stopped really making reviews because I didn't really want to say negative reviews on businesses but I am compelled to make a review here because I have had Birria tacos from several places and I know a good Birria taco. But unfortunately this place's Birria is not tender at all mighty tough meat I was hungry so I ate it anyways I paid for it at the end I was so bloated that it probably took my stomach 4 hours to digest the meat.

A totally solid al pastor burrito. Also larger than usual and I really should have left the last 1/3 for breakfast the next day. Good flavor, good texture with a mix of crispy bits and soft bits. They've got some interesting hot sauces at the tables too.

I must confess that as a Venezuelan abroad I haven't eaten many tacos, but these are possibly the best I've had in years. Particularly the texture and flavor of the tortillas stands out more than many places, and it doesn't feel as salty as it can be in other places.

Low quality Mexican food. They use the cheap chips. Dude! At least use actual tortilla chips not the weird ones with the black dots.Salty food otherwise lacking flavor.

This place is my new favorite Mexican place. It exceeded expectations on all fronts. First of all, the inside is huge! I was not expecting such a large dining area. Second of all, the food is cheap! Prices are so reasonable. And third of all, the portions are HUGE. We ordered a quesadilla for around $11, and when it came out I thought it was huge already but then it was actually folded in half so it was twice as big as I had originally thought. It was gigantic and my husband and I were both stuffed after sharing it. Everything was super flavorful. Highly recommend!
Definitely going back. Food was great and quick service. Glad we took a chance to try it out.

The Taqueria Las Pencas location in San Mateo is starting to cement itself as one of my favorite Mexican restaurants to order from. This is definitely a spot that I feel is pretty underrated and their flavor and quality impresses me each time. I ordered through Doordash multiple times and the food is still great. In my last couple orders I got the Quesabirria ($15.50), Lengua Quesadilla ($13.75), and the Tripa Regular Taco ($4.50). The portions and the amount of meat they give you is very generous as well which is a big plus. I ordered the Quesabirria in one instance and I would take my rating with an extra grain of salt because I had it sit for an hour or so and had to reheat it in the airfryer, but the flavor and texture still turned out amazing. The sauce that comes with the Quesabirria is also pretty spicy, but it adds such a nice kicks and flavor to it. Their consome is also one of the best ones I've had as of late and you get a great cheese pull from their birria tacos. 10/10 despite them being a little over $5 a taco. My most recent experience I wanted to try their lengua (beef tongue) and tripa (intestines) because they are my favorites to get at a taqueria. They charge $1 extra for lengua and tripa, but I personally feel its worth it because they have great quality and taste. The portions of their quesadilla are huge and the texture of the lengua also goes very well with it. The lengua taco has a nice subtle crisp and a strong flavor while also have a great fresh tortilla. Both of my orders were at least a 9/10. Their horchata I ordered for a friend, but it was also one of the better horchatas I had. It wasn't watered down at all and it had a strong cinnamon flavor. Would highly recommend it. Overall, I will likely order from here again and be one of my go to spots whenever I'm in San Mateo or ordering delivery.
