I moved to SF in 1996 from Chicago, and hand to heart: this is the BEST Deep Dish pizza on the planet here in San Mateo, CA! The crust has a a unique hint of sweetness to it, that paired with salty toppings (green olives and pepperoni), it's "mwuah!" (French Chef's kiss)

I drove by to verify the business is closed. The photo says, "Due to circumstances beyond our control, Windy City has closed as of today, Monday, 11/21/22. Thank you for your loyal support for so many years! We appreciate all of our customers. "

Such a sad day when Windy City closed its doors forever due to the greed of property owners. I will boycott any restaurant that will open in its place. Hope you do the same.

We ordered deep dish pizza that was half combination and half spinach (with artichoke substituted). I thought the pizza was good. The crust reminded me of pizza hut crust. The cheese was tasty and I liked the combination better. My husband was not as impressed with the pizza because it was bland to him and he didn't like the crust so much. I thought the staff was friendly and the delivery was on time.

We had our appetites All worked up for some delicious Pizza on November 25, 2022, but to our surprise- We were sad to see that Windy City is no longer open. They had some Amazing Pizza & will truly be missed. Good luck to the staff & owners in your future endeavors.

My husband has been on a roll finding delicious restaurants! We came here for dinner on Friday and it was a bit busy. You have to place your order in front where they'll give you a number before you find yourself a seat. Their menu has both Chicago Pizza and Texas BBQ, what a cool combo! We ordered french fries, mini corndogs, the works, and a 6 inch half and half stuffed pizza (Windy City Combo and Lincoln Park). Our appetizers were good, my favorite was obviously fries! I'm a s***** for crunchy french fries... yum!! My husband's favorite was the meatballs. The mini corndogs were okay, nothing special. The pizza was good but super filling! We got the personal size and that was a lot for us. It was also very thick so maybe that's why we got full faster. Definitely really tasty though! Service was good too! We said we'd come back to try the Texas BBQ side of the menu!

I've been to this location a more than a few times. I've been when it was busy and when it was slow. Each visit has always been positive. Ordered rib tips, Chicago dog, beef rib, ordered almost every side they had. Also had their pizza, everything was flavorful and the service was good. Had beers from their bar area, I think I had some sort of Texas beer. Their BBQ reminds of my Texas trips and their Pizza reminds me of my Chicago trips. I love the theme inside, it's a fun place to have dinner with family. It's family and kid friendly. TVs everywhere all sports channels. I love their outside seating as well. I recommend this location for sure!

I can’t speak for all the food, but what we ate was regrettable. Made a special trip to get a taste of my home: Chicago. Won’t be making that trip again.

I ordered a large combo pizza and an order of rib tips to go. To start the menu says the rib tips come with slaw or potato salad, I wasn't given the side or even offered to choose one. The rib tips were surprisingly delicious, like I might actually consider coming back just for these. The pizza itself was not as good as we expected it to be, the crust was good but not the rest of it. The customer service is completely missing in this place, I walked in went to the counter, were three employees were just talking. I let the lady know I was there to pick up an order I had placed over the phone, she then asks if I called it in? Umm yes places over the phone and call in is the same thing. She tells me my total and the guy standing next to her put my order next to me but doesn't say anything to me he's still busy with his personal conversation. I get to the door and noticed I was missing cheese and pepper flakes, I go back to the counter and ask for some, the guy grabs some kind of throws them at me and says do you need anything else with an attitude. I honestly felt like I was interrupting their conversation. The only reason I'm giving them two stars it's because of the rib tips I really wanted to love this place since it's two blocks away from my house, I don't know if I will ever go back.

I came here this past Sunday, and it was a fairly busy evening at Windy City Pizza and BBQ, as the Chicago Bears were playing, and all of the fans were hyped up as they viewed the game on several TV's throughout the restaurant. This is an awesome venue for watching sports and eating some good food, especially for Chicago and Texas sports fans. After all, it's all about that Chicago pizza and Texas bbq... all at one place!! We had to get it all during our visit, because we came hungry, and it was just too good of an opportunity. The Chicago style deep dish Windy City Combo was a 5 out of 5, crunchy on the bottom, lots of melted cheese, zesty sauce, and savory toppings mixed together to create the perfect pie, so good I forgot to share it with my boyfriend (I got the 6" personal size). For bbq dishes, we tried the Rib Tips, and St. Louis Style Pork Ribs, with several sides - salad, cornbread, and mac n cheese. The Rib Tips were the best part of all of that, the flavor was amazing. They offered either spicy or regular bbq sauce. The "spicy" was too spicy for me, but I love bbq sauce regardless, so I really enjoyed this dish. The rest of the food was a 4 out of 5 for me, and I tried at least a bite of everything. We also got some beer and wine, they have some unique wine options on their menu. I had a glass of Annabella, Russion River Valley Pinot Noir, and I really liked it. The atmosphere was lively (because of that Chicago Bears game), but it seems like a happy and casual atmosphere regardless, with great sports and animal decor all around, a small bar, and excellent service. You order your food and drinks at the counter, and seat yourself wherever you like. We were checked on frequently by many different employees, who made our experience here enjoyable, we felt well-taken care of during our stay. And the wait for food was reasonable, the bbq items came out very quickly, maybe like 12 minutes or so after ordering, and the pizza about 25 minutes (deep dish usually takes about 30 minutes). If looking for some good pizza or bbq (or both!), I highly recommend Windy City.

All in all, I like this place, and the people who work here are pleasant. The last pizza that I ordered was burnt, unfortunately, and I didn't realize it until I returned home. I ultimately, decided that it wasn't worth driving to return it. Plus, they appeared super busy that day (the place was packed with customers), so that may have played a part. Typically, their pizzas are non-burnt, and taste fine. :)

No Applepay accepted. Good food. You most likely will need to serve yourself. The people that work here is nice.

I grew up in Michigan, and I had a hankering for a summer "taste of home". For those of you that don't know what that means: it's quick, easy go-to type of family gathering foods like salads and hot dogs and outdoor made meals that don't add any additional heat to the already present warm environment. Nor tack on any dishes to be washed, might I add!! Came across this particular place via search for "Chicago Style Hot Dog", and Windy City Style Pizza and BBQ popped up! I'm always a s***** for a salad. Greek, Cesar, Seaweed, kale, arugula.... (I draw the line at chicken salad though. I mean, is that even really a salad..?) The Greek salad: Had plenty of the tangy, salty crispness of what we all expect from a Greek salad. My highlight is that they appreciate the separation of the vinegar and oil for the dressing, the fact that I asked for no onions (raw red onions make my stomach do somersaults), and the perfectly sized crispy breadstick that pairs very well with the acidic salad. Now, onto the Chicago style Hot Dog: First 'AHA!' moment, that this place knows what that term means, and that they are doing it correctly - "neon relish". They also use real sport peppers, and perfectly sliced tomatoes. In my opinion, the lack of celery salt (I didn't see nor taste any at all), and the lack of very large stem removal on the sport peppers is where I feel like it fell short. Ultimately though, being able to close my eyes and chomp down on the memories I'm tasting was more than worth the slight deviations. It's no Portillo's, but I'd call it close enough to a worthwhile Bay Area Chicago Style spot!!

A staple when we crave pizza, especially deep dish! It's located in a small plaza close to the 92 freeway. Parking lot gets full but there's plenty to go around. When you enter, you can pick a table or booth yourself and when ready to order, go right to the register. They offer Chicago deep dish, thin pizza, or stuffed. They also offer Texas BBQ. Our go-to is the Chicago Deep Dish! We usually do a half/half of Hawaiian pizza & the other half depends on our mood for the day but so far we have never left disappointed. Everything is quite delicious. We try to mix it up a bit and choose a different pizza everytime. This time we opted for the Windy City Combo to go with our Hawaiian pizza for our girls. It was yummy. A large comes with 8 slices and the slices are a good size. 1 slice had me pretty full already. Our girls enjoyed their pizza. Perfect amount of pineapple, no fighting over loose pieces. We took home 2 slices, 1 of each, and the girls were able to enjoy it for dinner as well. We also ordered chicken nuggets for our 4 y.o. It comes with 10 pieces. Some days she wants pizza and other days not so much so we took the easy route and let her have options but that day she chose pizza & we took the nuggets home for her to enjoy for dinner. The nuggets are ok. Good for kids. They did seem a bit dry this time around. She did end up finishing it over time. Happy hour is a thing. It's from 3-6pm, not sure if it's just M-F or weekends too. The happy hour menu is pretty good. We would usually order from there for the kids. They have a bar too so you can enjoy your beer as well. The do offer delivery from Burlingame to San Carlos. If you're in the mood from some good Chicago deep dish and can't make it out to Chicago, try this place. They will not disappoint!!
