Outstanding.Would describe the restaurant lay out as being just the right side of minimalist or less-is-more, yet still warm and inviting. The staff were simply wonderful; attentive but never intrusive, knowledgable, and reminding me of the professionalism you see in a 1 star establishment. Note: Extra special thanks to Buffy.I sat on a high chair/counter next to the kitchen to watch Chef and his team. The bread and butter (so often a let down) was delicious. I was a bit worried about their interpretation of the steak tartare appetizer but it was a revelation..highly recommended. The carbonara was also delicious, as was the wonderful Pinot Grigio which was very well priced. Pizza looked very good (not my thing). I would describe the overall restaurant vibe/atmosphere as convivial and relatively subdued, with everyone focused on the fabulous quality of the food.I am literally returning this evening. It's that good.

They advertised a lobster special on Tuesdays (I think that is the day... this happened a few weeks ago). I logged on to their site and ordered the lobster for myself and another meal for my son, from their take out menu.I paid.I few minutes later, I received a call that the lobster was only for their 'dine in' clients. So, I guess, I don't count as an actual client even though I'm paying and tipping like an actual client.I told the person, "this is how this is going to go... you must comply with what you advertise. That is the law. Since you had lobster on the take out menu, you need to honor it for me. Then, you need to correct your online menu so this awkward situation doesn't occur again."He put me on hold while he conferred with management. When he returned he grudgingly (yes I could hear it in his voice) said they would make an allowance for me.I walked down to the restaurant, and had to wait for more than a half hour for when the website said my order would be ready.I sat with friends who were dining in... I got the stink eye when I came in and announced I was waiting for my lobster order. And, after all of that discomfort, the lobster meal was super small and not well prepared.I won't be going back. This is only the second time I ate at the restaurant and neither time was the food worth the price.Besides, I refuse to eat at restaurants that would rather embarrass the customer than realize their mistake.

TKT has posted a policy that customers may only stay at their table 90 minutes. Although the front of house host was lovely and our server knowledgeable and professional, we felt pushed out; including being asked to take dessert to go (it was a table for two and a birthday). Their bar and parklet appeared to have space and we asked if we could eat dessert at either spot. Someone intervened and our desert arrived with a candle. Check was laid down swiftly. I suspect you'd like to hear about our meal? I do not remember.

Feb 20233.5 I'd say. We were out for a date night, and the space worked well. We were seated outside which was nice noise wise, service and water was spotty since we were away from the main area. Especially after the food dropped, but they helped with any questions we had at the beginning. Still, a heater was nearby so compatriot was warm so that was a plus during the time.We had ordered a raviolo uovo and bread and butter to share. I had gotten the mushroom ravioli. The uovo worked, I thought it could use just a touch of salt but was a little heavy otherwise. The mushroom ravioli was nice and rich, and not too much on the stuffing. It struck a nice balance in that respect. I did run out of sauce tho so the last bites were a bit lacking on that end but it is what it is.Still a nice night out tho for us. The food hit a number of good notes so we'll try to explore the menu more next time.

The Kitchen Table in San Rafael has become my go-to spot for celebrating special occasions and indulging in their mouthwatering prosciutto pizza for takeout. This hidden gem never fails to deliver an exceptional dining experience, leaving me impressed and craving for more. One of the highlights of my visits to The Kitchen Table is their perfectly breaded zucchini. Every bite offers a delightful crunch, and the zucchini retains its natural flavor without being overpowering. It's an absolute delight for the taste buds and a must-try appetizer. The Prosciutto pizza deserves special mention, as it is a true masterpiece. Topped with a tantalizing drizzle of spicy olive oil, it strikes the perfect balance between heat and flavor. Each ingredient harmonizes beautifully, resulting in a pizza that is both satisfying and memorable. The crust is always cooked to perfection, with just the right amount of crispness and chewiness. To satisfy your sweet tooth, I highly recommend trying their warm and fresh beignets. These delightful pastries are an absolute treat. Served straight from the oven, they are fluffy, light, and generously dusted with powdered sugar. Paired with a cup of coffee or a dessert wine, they make for a heavenly ending to any meal.Another aspect that sets The Kitchen Table apart is their impressive selection of old and new world wines. Whether you're a wine connoisseur or simply enjoy a good glass of vino, their knowledgeable staff will guide you through the extensive wine list, ensuring a perfect pairing for your meal. The attention to detail and passion for culinary excellence truly shine through in every aspect of their establishment. The service at The Kitchen Table is top-notch, with friendly and attentive staff who make you feel like a valued guest. The cozy and warm ambiance adds to the overall dining experience, making it the perfect place to celebrate with loved ones or enjoy a romantic evening.

A truly excellent little restaurant. Delicious food, attentive service, nice atmosphere... we went twice during our two-day stay!

Delicious homemade Italian food! You're able to make reservations on their website, but we got there early in the evening and we were seated immediately. Friendly staff. You have to pay for bread, but it's tasty. I had the spaghetti and clams. The sauce was light and the clams were plenty. Definitely someplace I'd come back to.

very funny that Yelp calls 2 stars "Could've been better." yea, 40% is a mediocre grade if the curve is so extreme that 65% is the new A+anyway, flying solo, seated at the counter. tagliatelle didn't taste THAT bad (despite being muddled with the scents of last week's seafood wafting forth from the kitchen and being obviously cross-contaminated with some type of shellfish). for $24, though, hahaha you'd have to pay me to come back. strange aromas of the wet food i feed my cat coming off the plate.barbera was awful. either the bottle was corked and the servers aren't trained enough to tell or it was a classic example of the type of overly tannic barberas that only ossified white people like.speaking of old white people, the ambiance was such that the average age of patrons was probably 55, after taking into account the numerous children screaming for "FISH AND CHIPS" who dropped said average by 5 years.yet another example of a stodgy old italian place that caters primarily to the types of thrice fried marin boomers who complain that black pepper is too spicy but turn their salt shakers upside down over their plates. you know, the ones that eat purely to get enough carbs in their system to waddle down the block instead of eating for pleasure? anyway, i went home and cooked myself some real food because i was still hungry.oops

My wife and I moved to San Rafael’s West End 2 years ago and TKT quickly became our favorite nearby date-night restaurant. The atmosphere feels upscale yet casual, the wait staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and the food is always delicious. Each time we go we try something new on the menu and we have never been disappointed. I highly recommend the Ravioli Uovo and carpaccio from the appetizer menu. The crab and sausage pizzas are both nice options as well, but my go-to is always whatever seasonal seafood pasta is on the menu. Can’t wait to dine in again!

Unfortunately, this place has gone downhill. The staff is eager but untrained. The food is actually bland, unimaginative, the menu does not describe what you will be getting. This used to be good food but something must have happened. Even the bread is bland. No way we pay these prices for such low quality.

Very good to awful in a year. Used to have very good food and service. Not any more, sadly. First, had to ask for the bread 3 times......the bread they charge for. Not sure which is worse. Second, the appetizer, octopus, was bland (you could go as far as say it is tasteless) except for the over powering mint. Rather disappointing considering mint.Third, the second entree was served 10 min after the first was served. Really? When the 2nd entree (seafood pasta) it was swimming in watery broth. Obviously, the pasta was not drained in the rush to get it delivered. I sent it back. Fourth, the pasta was supposed to be spaghetti but it was the same size and taste of ramen noodles. Positively revolting. Rather disappointing to see one of the only decent restaurants in San Rafael go down hill. I am not going back lever. Ooff to Petaluma where the restaurants are far superior and, pleasantly, less expensive. Cheers!

Our first time but not the last!! The Kitchen Table was delicious and (at least what my adventurous son and I ordered), very unique. Amazing egg ravioli. Carpaccio with capers & pizza dough toast. Yummy panzanella salad (me). Son's pork chop was great. Panna cotta perfection. Great service too. Team effort. Nice to see.We will be back!

We were looking for a new place (to us) to try. We stumbled on the Kitchen Table and I can't wait to go back. The ambience - beautiful. The service - impeccable. The food - out of this world. We had 4 dishes and each was truly a standout. An amazing romaine lettuce salad with lots of surprising goodies, a stunning risotto with very lightly fried perfectly cooked calamari, a polenta with mataki musuhrooms that was the best polenta we've ever tasted, and a transformed ice cream sandwich that raised the bar for the world's best ice cream sandwich. Truly a wonderful experience on every level!
