This might be a nice place to have a drink mid-afternoon and watch a game but as far as coming for a birthday brunch no thanks. The banana bread French toast was gross and had no crisp to it, and was amusingly small. Ahi burger was ok, but missing something. Maybe sprouts or arugula for freshness. Bread pudding, just bad. And very small. Pickle jar= was way smaller than the one I saw on check please bay area. Fries tasted kind of stale. Didnt really notice even the hop flavor. Salad had a spicy dressing that wasn't mentioned on the menu. Maybe this place is better for dinner...maybe. Thanks guy from Check Please Bay Area

I wanted to like this place as it's a neighborhood spot where you can have a beer in an outdoor setting. It was a very poor experience all around. The food took very long to arrive even though they were simple meals (mac and cheese, fish and chips, mussels). Mussels had to be sent back immediately as they were off. Long wait for replacement meal of a simple burger, which arrived with chips. We weren't asked what side we preferred but chips were definitely not it, and they didn't appear as an option on the menu. Fish was mostly breading and very oily. Fries were mostly small bits. No accompanying slaw even though it appears on the menu. Mac seemed fine to the 14-year old. Salad was fine but very small for the price. A dog at a nearby table was yelping like crazy and when asked to calm their dog down, owners were miffed. Although there is lovely outdoor seating on the north side of the restaurant they chose to keep that area empty and seat people close to cars in the front. The food is overpriced and poorly executed, verging on unsafe in the case of the mussels. The beer is good though!

Great find while on our way home! They have an outdoor space for those who have dogs and open concept inside. We ordered the ahi sandwich and lamb burger, both were super tasty and perfectly done. I loved the shiitake mushrooms on the ahi sandwich, added a good amount of texture and flavor. The lamb burger was super good with the tahini and pickled veggies. We also ordered the garlic fries that were done the perfect amount of crunch. Staff were also really nice and welcoming! We will definitely be back.

Great welcome as we came inside. Quickly seated and greeted. We ordered both the chicken sandwich and the lamb burger along with mac and cheese and hop fries. . Stout beer and a diet coke. Drinks brought out first. Long story short (kidding) Waitress said all the food would arrive simultaneously. Chicken sandwich was delicious as the two sandwiches arrived. Now the bit of bad news. I did ask for well done lamb but it was like eating a charcoal brickett. I'm taking the blame for that and will order medium well meat next time. Very nice waitress came by fifteen minutes later and said 1 more minute for the mack. Came back a few minutes and said the cook forgot to start the order. Now I begin to think the cook something? and maybe they fell asleep half way between the lamb and the Mac. When the Mac did arrive it was tasty. We were not asked if we would like desert or a break because of the Mac and cheese episode. Overall medium experience pub with a great beer selection. A bit overpriced. I hope to go back and retry the lamb again. We drove an hour plus bridge toll for that sandwich.

In the past we loved this restaurant but today the food was not great. The kale salad was flat and the kale was almost inedible, hadn't been softened at all and was torn in huge pieces. The veg curry came out 5 full minutes after all the other food was served. The fried Brussels sprouts had granulated sugar on top. It felt like someone picked up the wrong seasoning. The service was excellent and the restaurant remains beautiful and comfortable.

The mission was simple: good people watching, food, and service. Mission accomplished at The Monk's Kettle. I don't drink, but Travis hooked me up with 2 of the best n/a bevs I think I've ever had! Our food was delicious. I'm also vegetarian, so huge bonus when any meat sando can be subbed for a vej patty. The black bean patty was super tasty and light enough that I don't feel bloated rn. Oh...and we were treated like queens. That was the best part. The hospitality was on point. Definitely going back!!Vegetarian options: As I stated in my review, stoked to see that they had a black bean patty and the Impossible burger for the sandos/burgers. The kale salad, soups, and sides were numerous. The brussel sprouting kale salad were so good!!Parking: The free parking lot was packed when we got there (with cars competing for spots). By the time we left, there were plenty of spaces.

The good: great service and selection of tasty beers. The Bad: Horrible fish and chips. Fish is Swai and (not very good) chips (fries) soggy. Chicken sandwich was just mediocre.

LOVE these guys. They go out of their way to help with things like instead of just topping off my coffee, I got a brand new cup of hot coffee. They asked me to taste the sauce first before I placed the order. They are kind and fun and I love this place. The food is amazing and I will come back!!

My first time there I had the chicken sandwich with a cold glass of porter and it tasted amazing. My wife and I shared a salad and the fries were delicious. We have been back a few more times and the food is very consistent. We're happy to have found this place.

Walked in on a Saturday evening and sat at the bar. Hostess and bartenders were friendly from the moment I arrived. They have an impressive selection of craft beers. I ordered the lamb burger and brussel sprouts. Juiciest, most flavorful lamb burger I've ever had. The mint in the sauce paired perfectly with the meat. The brussel sprouts had the perfect texture, crispy on the outside and soft inside. The seasoning on them was delicious. Reminded me of crispy onion rings with a vinegar drizzle. The music was a Mac Demarco Tame Impala vibe. I will be returning!

Great staff, friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu items. We ordered curry, ahi sandwich, fried chicken sandwich, and burger. All items were delicious. Very nice beer selection. We ate indoors, as it was a cool day, but there is a lot outdoor seating available. We ate here because it was a half-way point to meet friends. Whenever we're back in town we will definitely eat here again.

This was the second time I’ve been here and both times the burgers were way over cooked. I asked for medium rare and they both came out medium well or even well done. The pretzel bites in my mind should be soft and warm when they are served. Instead they were cold and hard. Then the server never even checked on how the food was. I told him when we were about to pay the bill how overcooked the burger was. He didn’t quite know what to see. Needless to say, I don’t plan on visiting there again anytime soon.
