Really enjoyed the moist chicken inside the delicious and crunchy shell. Enjoyed the slaw. Fries were below standard. Tried the fried pickles. Prefer fried pickle discs, instead of pickle fingers, but flavor was good.

The chicken was cooked to perfection. The staff was friendly. The dessert was the best part though.
Very much a bustling, neighborhood eatery. The chicken is unique in that it is has more of a crust & the flavor has a slight kick. Very tasty! I got a couple pieces that were charred, which I enjoyed but I realize is not for everyone. The chicken was still juicy on the inside. Potato salad & beans were also good. The greens, however, were very bland which could be doctored up at home.My only complaint was how soggy the chicken got the next day. I’m not sure if it was just the batch I had but I was very disappointed with the experience the following day. So I recommend eating it fresh & they are sure to serve it piping hot!Oh, the pecan pie was delicious too!PS. It is quite expensive but if you’re in the mood for good chicken it is worth the splurge.

The truth is it's super delicious, a little salty but it's super and the cabbage salad, if they cleaned the windows it would be better, good service !!

Great place for fried chicken. Super nice servers. Coleslaw, beans and fried pickles also delicious.
My friends took me here to give it a try. Took a few minutes to find parking before actually coming in & sitting down. Ordered the 1/2 chicken with baked beans + Mac N cheese, & a side of small fries. The portions are very small, about 8-10 table spoons of baked beans were actually on the plate & a bit more of on the mac & cheese. The small order of fries were indeed small, at $5 it definitely NOT WORTH IT. Taste wise everything was decent, a solid 7/10 but for The price I was hoping for better. Worth a try but could be better.Parking: Parking is street parking, have to pay.

If you want Southern fried chicken this is your spot. They fry in peanut oil at a proper temperature, so the meat is not too greasy. The breading has a nice level of spice to it. Gus's also offers several traditional sides like baked beans, Cole slaw and potato salad. In addition to the standards, collard greens, fried pickles, fried okra and fried green tomatoes are on offer. The sweet tea is just right and the pecan and sweet potato pie is waiting for you.
Found this spot after just walking around LA for a bit. Best decision of my life. I ordered a 2pc Dark Meat meal which came with a chicken leg, chicken thigh, a piece of bread, coleslaw, and baked beans, and I also ordered the fried okra. The chicken was super tender and juicy, with an amazingly crispy exterior. The coleslaw was pretty sweet. The baked beans were amazing, some of the best I've had in a while. The fried okra was really good, really crunchy on the outside and still very sticky and gooey on the inside. The service at this place was spectacular, the servers are very attentive to customers and were always kind. Love this spot, I'm definitely coming back whenever I return to LA.
Overpriced, super oily, salty, most likely re-fried chicken.2 stars for the potato

Really great fried chicken. Meat is juicy and tasty!Kid-friendliness: They supplied paper and crayons to the kids so they could colour while waiting.
