Gotta admit, Philly's Best holds a special place in my heart - a nostalgia trip like no other. Back when I was living the Woodbridge life in Irvine, this joint was on our hit list for both lunch and dinner. Now, I'm not exactly the beef sandwich type, but that didn't stop the squad from dragging me there time and time again. Nope, I was all about that Turkey Sandwich life. Their meats, their bread, and those bottomless pickles? They were the real MVPs, especially in a world where Jimmy John's, Jersey Mike's, and Boar's Head were nowhere to be found.Flash forward nearly two decades, and I found myself back in Orange County, craving a taste of the past. But this time, I hit a different spot. Truth be told, my expectations were lower than a submarine's basement because most of my childhood food crushes haven't aged well. But surprise, surprise - Philly's has stepped up its game. They're serving Boar's Head meat now, a game-changer if you ask me. The place was empty, which had me worried, but I soldiered on and ordered 3 sandwiches - 2 cold cuts, 1 Philly, plus a side of fries and onion rings. And guess what? The pickle bar was still in business! In this post-COVID world, that's a rarity, my friends. These sandwiches were as big as a Jersey Mike's sub, but here's the kicker - the meat actually looked like meat and not melted cheese pretending to be meat, and the bread? It's like they found a time machine to bake it without all the preservatives. Price? Same as the competition. But they threw in fries and onion rings, a welcome change from the usual chips. Oh, and homemade ranch dressing! Why is it that so many places can't crack the code for this simple delight? Whether it's True Foods, Mortons, or even Denny's - they all struggle. Buffalo Wild Wings charges extra for it, but here, they make it from scratch and handed it to me on the house. Talk about a bonus! Maybe I should've made a side salad at home with the extra dressing. The service was as good as it could be. The girl at the counter was a sweet as a button. Zero complaints or suggestions there. I'm glad Philly's Best is still in the game. They've got some killer sandwiches, especially those Philly ones - they speak for themselves. My only concern? Their prices are on par with the big, soulless chains out there, despite serving up a superior product. It's tough to compete in that arena, but here's to hoping they make it. Best wishes, Philly's Best - you've got my sandwich-loving heart.

Customer service was awesome and food was good but the reason I gave 3 stars is for the working conditions for their employees. It's sad to see that in the summer time there is no air conditioning for the store. It's terrible to have customers walk in there and not even feel comfortable enough to dine in but to have an employee do a full shift and cook while there is no air conditioning is deplorable. It doesn't look like the owner or managment looks at yelp reviews or they refuse to comment on them but I hope this gets to you and you learn how to treat your employees better with better working conditions.

This place used to be so good! I used to go once a week! But no longer. They seem to have newer staff and there is major inconsistency with how each staff members makes the food not to mention this new round of younger staff are super rude and can hear them loudly gossiping ( I mean at least wait till the customer leaves to talk bad about other staff members) while making my sandwich without gloves. super disappointed considering this place used to be my favorite

Been here 3-4 times. This last time I decided to order a cold cut sandwich. I read how the sandwich came and asked for no mayo. The menu also said mustard and hot pepper spread upon request. I start enjoying my sandwich and taste mustard. Ruined the sandwich for me and was not worth what I spent. I'll go back but will check my order.

The best Philly's buffalo steak and chicken sandwich we had ever had! The staff were amazing and really helpful! The young lady at the front ( Elizabeth; if not mistaken) was generous and helped us to pick the best sandwiches I highly recommend this place

I ordered a cheeseburger and onion rings at the establishment And I thought that onion rings were a little expensive but oh well I like onion rings if they're cooked right. When I picked up the order I asked for a second ranch which I was told I would have to pay for which I didn't think I should but oh well I just left without the 2nd ranch. Once I got in my car cause I had to order to go I opened it up and oh my God The Onion rings were the worst I've ever were burnt and also they had a mix of French fries in there and something else that was burnt I could not recognize it. So I don't think I'll ever order from this place again. Not because the Union rings are burnt. But because you pay a lot for onion rings and you ask for one extra ranch and you had to pay for that no thank you.

I went in here once doing a DoorDash order and it smelled so good in the car I've just been wanting to come back.I ordered the Phillys Best Cheesesteak that comes with Sweet Peppers and Grilled Onions. The sandwich was piping hot. A seamless integration of all ingredients inside. Do order with the grilled onions. The sandwich was extremely tasty. Bread was on point. The service was great and I got the food quickly. This is the location on MacArthur & Fairview. The only thing was it was $16 something for a sandwich and a drink. A little expensive. But it was bomb.

I placed an order over the phone for pick up at a specific time. The employee was courteous and the order was ready when it was supposed to be.All of the following was under $50 as of Jan 2023, and the sandwiches were pretty generous in portion size: 3 cheesesteaks (2 beef, 1 chicken), 1 order of onions rings, and 1 side of ranch. We weren't charged for added grilled onions onto our sandwiches. Not sure if that was lucky or if they don't charge extra. Everything was amazing, but I don't even want to know how bad this stuff is health-wise!
