Great dinners at Roy Sat night. Everything on the menu sounded good. The house made warm bread absolutely delicious. Just wish they had a little live dinner music. That would have been perfect. Also, they don't offer Bombay Sapphire gin for some reason. But Hendricks was ok. We will definitely be back!!

Terrible service. I won't be coming back and neither will my friend. The owner of Roy and the staff ignored me and my guest for over 10 minutes upon arrival at the front door entrance. I had to go up to a waiter who was bringing out food to tell him we had a 7:30 pm reservation. He told me to sit down at any table, which we did in the center of the restaurant and then we were ignored for an additional 20 minutes. It wasn't that busy to warrant being ignored and it seemed like the owner's friends and regulars perhaps were being taken care of. I had to flag down a waitress who brushed us off, but she did send the owner over, who took our drink order. No apology or acknowledgment of the crappy service we received, after mentioning the wait, but he took our drink order quickly with no thought or care. Getting our drinks took way too long and we ordered food once they arrived. The food was good, but no one ever checked on us once during our whole meal. No how is your food, do you need another drink, or dessert, nope! I had to get up and track down the male waiter to ask him for our check. I couldn't wait to get out of there, the only redeeming part was the great live jazz being played and catching up with my friend.

This night the restaurant was probably overwhelmed. While there were more staff, they didn't seem organized. Drink orders still took 15+ minutes and dirty dishes and glasses accumulated on people tables. The food wasn't as perfect as usual and took 50-60 minutes to arrive. I'll still go back though.

Old school feel, art centric decor, excellent waitress but over-extended, food was truly excellent, very quiet but it was early Sunday evening. Most memorable thing: the food was exceptional.

A beautiful evening was had dining at Roy. The crab cakes were delicious as well as the decently priced New York Steak which was very juicy and had a delicious mushroom sauce that accompanied it. Will definitely be returning soon!

We went there for New Year's Eve before going to a show. The place as could be expected, was incredibly crowded and became quite noisy. But it was New Year's Eve, so what did we expect except that it would be noisy. The server unfortunately we did not get his name was a very nice young man, and did a very very good job. The food was excellent and well presented. Our only criticism is we had a 6 o'clock reservation and when we first walked in a little before six we were greeted with we're not open till six and do you have a reservation. We thought that we could've been greeted a little nicer. Would definitely go again, but probably not on a holiday night.

Great food. We had what appeared to be a newbie server. He was shy and needed prompting but a back up waitress was watching and stepped in as needed. I highly recommend the steaks and caprese salad. My wish would be that they had better salt on the fables but that is minor.

Our first time eating at Roy. We were a little suspicious when no one else was in the restaurant and we were there at 6:30 on a Wednesday night. Waitress said they usually get busier later in the evening. It turned out to be one of the best meals we have had lately. The owner is the only chef and does all the cooking so it takes a little longer to get food but it is worth the wait. Morgan (waitress) was very accommodating and put us at ease. She provided excellent service. It is a quiet little place.

We love Roy - the restaurant and the owner/chef himself. Whenever we're there, we feel like he is welcoming you in to his home. He really cares about the customer and the service is beyond great. Sometimes the items getting to the table are a little slow, but it gives you more time to enjoy your beverage and the homemade bread. The food is always delicious and fresh. You can tell he really does shop at the Farmer's Market.

Everything was bad- we had to wait for food for an hour and a half and food was terrible. The service was super slow and server gave us an attitude. Will never go back to this place

Delicious food and drinks. Cool, funky vibe. Casual, comfortable place to grab a great meal after the show. They are open seven nights a week from 6 PM to midnight. A little hidden jewel near downtown Santa Barbara.

Too expensive for the quality/flavor of food. Took them about 50 minutes to bring the food after ordering. Service way too slow, waiter/bartender forgot our drinks. Didn't order dessert because I didn't want to wait another 50 minutes for a plain dessert like dinner.

This place is located in a quiet little section of downtown near the Canary hotel. The food is simply amazing, and it is one of the very few places open late nights where you can get real food. Perfect for dinner after a concert at the Santa Barbara Bowl. The vibe is definitely funky (in a good way) with lively bar, and live music most nights. Lovely owner/chef and servers. Our favorites include the filet mignon meatballs and chicken marsala. We rarely miss an opportunity to dine here when we visit Santa Barbara.

Our group of four had a terrific time at Roy. The ambience was relaxed and welcoming, the server was friendly and attentive, and the food was delicious. (My cosmopolitan was really tasty, too.) Roy himself came around to check on everyone. We'll be back!

Loved the homemade ravioli, but two in our party found it too "al dente". Sadly, flourless choc cake had no flavor. Only one waitress for 10 busy tables, but she was exceptional although short handed. Must have been an "off" night.
