Loved my early dinner here on one of the days I was in Santa Barbara! I tried their "veggie chow chow" which is Himalayan-style chow mein and it was SO delicious... wow. Other Himalayan restaurants I've been to don't serve this so it was a nice dish to experience. It got me wanting to experiment in the kitchen to try and replicate it. Though it was essentially chow mein, it tasted very different from Chinese chow mein and better. I'll be back :)

Really good food that was exactly what I needed to warm my belly. It was a Wednesday and a quiet rainy night, and as I was the only person in the restaurant, the service was great! It was not the fanciest place in town by far, but it was clean and seemed to be kept well. I ordered the chicken momos, lamb korma, and garlic naan. The chicken momos were heavenly! Stuffed with a meaty and herbaceous filling and accompanied by a wonderful chili chutney. The kormas flavor was extraordinary; however, I should have asked for spicy, since being in Santa Barbara, I think they toned down the heat for the locals and with a bit more heat it would have been one of the best I have had! The garlic naan could have had more garlic and was slightly too toasted that it got crispy. My unsweetened masala chai also was very warming and smooth. I would definitely return when in the area.

Eating at the Himalayan Kitchen tops off our downtown Santa Barbara excursions. We are always greeted warmly and receive wonderful service. We love to take guests there as you are always guaranteed seating and very tasty food. My wife loves the tikka. masala and I love, everything. They even accommodated my obnoxious brother in law's special requests for salmon masala without a moments pause. It appears that they do the build of business from take out but we always enjoy eating in and sharing the big bottle of Taj Mahal Lager.

Had samosas, chicken Tikka masala and yellow dal. Everything was delicious!

We stopped here for late afternoon tea and snacks while strolling on State street. The tea was piping hot and aromatic, exactly as I would want on a rainy day. We ordered samosas and chicken momos for snacks and both were freshly made, steaming and excellent. Service was quick and friendly and the restaurant is decorated and cozy.

Excellent service. Great food. The food was made quickly. We got the saag paneer and the paneer masala. Both were great. We also got the cinnamon lassi drink. It’s yogurt based and a wonderful combination of tart and sweet. Yum! I appreciated that the main dishes came with white rice. I always forget to order it!Vegetarian options: The paneer dishes are very good.

The chai was not good. The vegetable pakoras were mushy and very oily. The tandoori platter was very bland. Overall very bland experience. I had high hopes but was let down. Good service though.

My wife and I come here often from far away,we are always kindly welcomed and seated promptly, this restaurant sits in the middle of beautiful state st.and is a quite lil relaxed Himalayan cuisine restaurant, there tikka masala is perfectly flavored and spiced ,there curry is out of this world, there naan makes me come back every time,I recommend this lil spot to everyone that enjoys fine cuisine, and quick service, see you all again soon.

Service was okay.... But the problem is the food. I ordered mango lass (not sure what I actually tasted, but not good) I ordered the chicken tiki Marcella and because I cook it at home and order it good Indian restaurants including cooking. This tasted like chicken cooked in tomato bisque soup'. Nothing about this dish indicated it was chicken tiki Marcella . After two bites the food was left behind.
