This Yoshinoya at its best makes great food. Unfortunately, the food is usually not at its best.Oftentimes the meat is tough and stringy. They rely heavily on their sauces the make up the flavor. The vegetables, especially the cabbage, are often old and discolored. I wish I could say I was surprised when they served me the sorry-looking vegetables in this picture. To be fair to this Yoshinoya, this photo shows a worse than usual result. But it is telling that they serve food with this level of visual quality without comment. It makes me wonder how quality is being overlooked in other parts of their ingredient supply and execution.3 stars - because it will get you fed, and is one of a limited number of options in this part of UCSB's campus. But I don't advise seeking it out unless you're already on the northeast corner of UCSB.Vegetarian options: No vegetarian main options. Some sides are vegetarian, but not really a decent meal.

Best fast dining on campus, Multiple options for toppings on noodle or white or brown rice with steamed vegetables. Nice lady has run it since opening.

Nothin like my home spot on Vermont near LA city college, space wise (its underneath a parking structure on UCSB) but every bit as delicious food wise! I work in Santa Barbara and was craving beef bowl and threw a Yelp Hail Mary to see if there was one in the area ... JACK POT!!!!

Not good for vegetarian or vegan people at all.

Costs around $8 for a regular size chicken bento (likely the cheapest option on the menu). It comes with good portion but the sauce was way too salty.

Yoshinoya reminds me of growing up. My mom would get it weekly when I was in Jr. High and High School. It was always a go-to late night meal coming home from gigs in Hollywood since they were open really late. There is some definite nostalgia for me surrounding their combo bowl. One thing I didn't realize is there were no Yoshinoya spots in Oahu. That surprised me since there are so many Japanese chains set up there. So I couldn't get my fix when I was living there. When I moved to Santa Barbara it also surprised me that there was only one in the area. Lucky for me, it is located on campus so that means it is close to work! The hours suck (wish it was opened later) but the flavors of my youth are there. Time to go get a combo bowl.

The older Asian lady here is so nice.I come here just to say hi.The food is what you expect from any Yoshinoya operated properly. If you don't mind the thinly sliced beef, I absolutely love their beef bowls.Large beef, no juice, extra grilled onions is the way to go!

Yoshinoya needs to come to the central coast! Every time I go to LA to visit my family I get Yoshinoya. Yummy
