Good food, and that is where the 'good' ends with this place. It is a self serve kind of a place and I fully understand that there is not much scope for service per say, but the guy taking the orders is angry and rude all the time. You would be brushed away if you ask even a single question about their menu. After multiple times of going there, the attitude of the guy taking orders is a big no no. It was not a one or two such incidents, but all the time. A big zero on service.

A bit hidden away and hard to see from El Camino unless you know to look for it. This is probably the only place that has food from my hometown of Bangalore. Typical South Indian fare with a Bangalorean twist. Been going here since I moved to the Bay years ago and finally getting down to review them as they're shutting their doors for good two weeks from the date of this review. The only place in the Bay where I could walk in be greeted by "susvagatha" on the wall that translates to "Welcome" in Kannada the native tongue of Bangalore. One final tidbit before we get to the food, the benches inside the restaurant are reminiscent of the type of bench type seating in Fast food (called Darshini) restaurants in Bangalore in the 80s and 90s, so definitely some nostalgia there for those from that part of the world. They were a lot more crowded years ago and the dosas in particular were great, seem to have lost a step in the years since and I guess at this point they must have known the end is coming so fair enough. While they have a variety of South Indian breakfast food (dosa, idly, puri & some chaats). Smallish menu but I think this can be a good thing if you do what you do well. Having said that, we come here for stuff we eat here primarily : Masala Puri : Bangalore style chaat in a dried pea masala gravy. (5/5) - When you're the only one making a type of food you get props for it. Maddur Vada : A take on the vada native to the town of Maddur specifically a restaurant there "Maddur Tiffany's" which has made it immortal. Amazed to find it in this part of the world. It's about half as good as the original but I was just surprised to ever find it at all. (4/5) Set Dosa : Fluffy spongy dosa with a thicker ratio of dough compared to the typically spongy dosas. (4/5) The sambar here is a bit sweeter thanks to Jaggery which is definitely Bangalore inspired. Apart from this they also have interesting ice cream flavors and sweets (Dharwad Peda, Dhoodh Peda) and snacks from Karnataka. Sad to see them leave the scene after so very long, this was a touch of old Bangalore in the Bay which was incredibly special, yes the owner might not be very chatty or responsive but again try going to place in Bangalore and you won't find it odd at all. You will be missed Bangalore Cafe and thanks for bringing Bangalore to us all these years!

Cashier lacks empathy and compassion. People like him should go through some basic hospitality courses as a prerequisite before entering food industry.

Good place for Indian ice cream flavors. I've had both Malai (cream flavor), and saffron pista (saffron and pistachio).

Neat, clean, taste dishes. Loved the set dosas and various real ice cream s we picked up. If you like Real Ice Cream, this is the place.

Very pricey, portions were small. The menu is very limited with the usual dosa fare. The menu on the website does not reflect what they serve. Like most other reviews , the chaat was tasteless and the food was lukewarm. Nothing Bangalore about the place except for the small portions for higher price. The owner is rude and most of the patrons were irked by that. One of the reviews talks about this. Alternatively the Udupi Hotel is the best choice with great selection and an affable staff. Give this a miss

Decent place to try Bangalore based food. Cannot vouch for how authentic it is since I am not from that city. They also carry chutney and food items pertaining to the area for sale.

The food is amazing! Very fresh and excellent taste! The tutti frutti ice cream is heaven and all the kulfi flavors are amazing! Best Indian place for very tasty street food and amazing sweets! Do not forget to try their tea!

Authentic Karnataka food. Everything we ordered - masala puri, set dose, mysore masala dose, bisi bele bath was mouthwatering good. Loved that the board was in kannada.

The food here is the closest to what you actually get in Bangalore. Taste profile and menu selection is pretty accurate. Try the Garlic Masala Dosa, Masala Puri, Rava Idli and Set Dosa for some authentic Bangalore dishes. Ice creams are good too.

This is one of the most underrated restaurants on yelp. The vada pav is a must try. Have tried Vada pav at many other places in bay area but at most places they have turned out to be average. This has been our go to place for vada pav for past two years. The samosa chaat is good too.

This place is hard to notice. From the outside you wont feel nice going in. Once you go in, things are super neat and well organized. They dont have a hand wash. Dosas where amazing. Garlic dosa is super soft and juicy. Loved it. We did not like the chaats as such. Did not try all the items in the chaat section. If they could put up a flashy name board, I guess more people would come in.

THE MASALA PURI IS BOMB!! Great maddur vada, coffee and pista ice cream. Dosas are good too but not as great as ‘you know who’.
