Everything about Newhall Press Room was just about up to my expectations for it, based on its location, philosophy (per web sites descriptions), and reviews from other trusted Yelpers. So, all in all, this was a good experience for a Sunday brunch on a popular holiday. The menu was good enough for a vegetarian. The fact that you can get breakfast/lunch/dinner at any time on Sundays was a nice extra. The California Benedict appealed to me and I was able to have the bacon kept out. Our server, Jennifer, was very friendly, efficient, and professional. We got a perfect table for me, right next to the large windows (clean) on Main Street and below the large screen tv. We lucked out and got a parking space right in front -- yay, that's rare. The food was good, the portions were modest but enough so we could take some home. Jennifer and the kitchen gifted us with two small delicious sugared cinnamon muffins -- wasn't that nice? Main Street is festive now on weekends with all the shops and gastropubs that have opened and are seemingly thriving through all the challenges they face these days and the fact that Old Town Newhall is a bit off the beaten path. That lends itself to feeling like we had an outing even though it was a relatively casual midday meal. The beer menu is good and I was able to get Dark Star Oatmeal stout, as I do like an occasional 4oz of beer (it came in a frosty 16 oz glass), and it always has to be the darkest beer available. I don't like any other kind and am not a drinker. The prices are reasonable and comparable to other gastropubs in LA county, so, bottom line, this is a good place to try. Now, one thing I have to point out is the unexpected missing character, for lack of a better term, that the interior has and thus the rather bland atmosphere inside. This, despite a great tin ceiling (see pictures), the walls of bottles, and the black wood tables and chairs, all upscale touches. Somehow the walls look empty even with a couple of unremarkable art pieces. For example, NPR has apparently won some prestigious and valued awards, but they are placed on a relatively inconspicuous wall, lost on the stretch of whiteness of that spot and thus almost forgotten or trivialized. I meant to take a closeup of them and forgot -- proving my point. The entire indoor space needs something extra to add a bit of excitement. Also, my Benedict eggs were almost cold when they came. This is probably because after they were cooked, cold avocado and tomato were place on them and chilled them down. However, that was almost made up for by being on biscuits -- love that idea -- even though these were a bit dry and not likely made same day. There is a good size patio for outdoor dining and a good wine and spirits menu. They definitely honored St. Patrick's Day. I wish I could be more superlative; it wouldn't take much to notch it up to great. I want to try it again soon.

Great staff. The food is fair and pricey with not a lot of choices. Wine is great , servers are knowledgeable and friendly

Went to a wine tasting event. Food and wine were both pretty tasty. Staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. I think the prices were good. Super weird vibes though. The staff kept shushing a room of adults over a karaoke mic to talk about the wine and it was pretty unsettling. I've been to wine tastings before and either the tasting notes and history of the wine came written on the menu or the staff introduced the wine to guests as they were pouring. Not interested in having silence demanded when I'm a paying customer - but I would consider stopping in again for a normal dinner service.

I can't believe it took me so long to try Newhall Press Room! This place is such a treasure and it was the perfect setting to celebrate my friends birthday. We made a reservation for Saturday at 11:30 and we lucked out by having Jennifer as our waitress. She really added to the already amazing experience we had. We ordered a bottle of their Sparkling Rose which was delightful and 3 additional bottles of it went home with us afterwards. The Fall Burrata Toast, Wedge Salad, Truffle Mac and Steak Frites were also enjoyed immensely with the truffle Mac and salad being the winners. We finished up with some Affogato and Cinnamon Rolls and I truly can't wait to come back again. They have some amazing wines; along with some natural and vegan ones. The kicker was that they take $20 off any bottle to go! They have other daily specials that are worth checking out and I look forward to my next visit.

The wine selection here is great! They carry wines not in the usual rotation at restaurants, and they are always good. And the food is amazing. The best place in SCV to meet for food and wine.

Eric was very kind and friendly. I enjoyed a wine flight and some gluten free noodles in their short rib Bolognese.

This was a terrible first impression of the Press Room. We stopped for some wine and a chequeboard. Our waitress didn't even tell us any of the specials and it was only after I ordered a flight or 3 tiny pours of bland wine for $25 that I overheard another waiter describing their special to another table: 8oz for $8. I paid $25 for 3oz. On top of that, our waitress didn't even know the wine she poured as part of the $25 flight. For $90 we received the dullest wine you can imagine, a chequerboard with 4 pieces of meat, and cold french fries--terrible service, no pride in their work or wine, and ripped off from the Sunday Special. Never trying this place again and whoever was working this past Sunday in the early afternoon is 99% of the reason why.

I was really disappointed in this place. We went on Sunday and I guess there was an $8 pour for 8oz per glass that we heard of after the fact from another server. We got the red flight which was 3-3oz for $25. The server didn't even tell us what the three samples were and we waited 10 minutes and then just decided to guess. Our cheese board and fried took a long time and the restaurant wasn't busy. The total meal was $85. I wish I would have just stayed at home. I will not be returning.

Food was pretty good. Beer selection was good. Wine selections were not good. Both house wines (Zin and Pinot Noir) were flat, jammy and pruny.Service was affected by glitch technology (not the waitstaff fault). The music was excellent. And having some space to dance was great.

I visit this place from time to time. Their charcuterie is to die for. Beer selection is proper. Staff is top tier. If you're going to visit this place I highly recommend you ask for Taylor. Shes their best waitress, in my opinion, and they're all good, so thats saying something.

How can the NEWHALL PRESS ROOM be an entirely different experience then your neighbor The SMOKEHOUSE??..to better explain My wife and I started at The SMOKEHOUSE, no service skills at all on 9/23/23. We left, sat inside the Press Room and The waitress who attended to us was on point from the beginning. The food and her skills were far above THE JOKEHOUSE I mean THE SMOKEHOUSE LOL! . We had beer and wine and a wonderfully prepared and delicious dinner and what stood out the most was the service. Great food and Great service should go together beautifully. And it did for sure at THE NEWHALL PRESS ROOM. Thank you We will for sure keep returning.

Used to be the go to place for happy hour. Reasonable prices and good portions. Well no more! Wine process have almost doubled (for cheap wine) and portions are pathetic. Much better places to go for happy hour. Do yourself a favor and look around.
