This place is alright. Mostly just fried fish, but I find it a little too pricey for what it is, hence the 3 stars. I go back from time to time, but since it is all fried food it's a little difficult to go back too often as the food is too heavy. The fried fish itself is alright and a decent portion, although I don't think it was necessarily the best quality fish.

The macaroni and cheese was good . I wanted filet of soul they did not have filet of soul so I had to pick another fish .The fish didn't have any flavor it was crunchy . The french fries was those little skinny cheap fries.

Today was my first and LAST!1. Dark brown (Old oil) and hard fried fish.2. Hush Poppies nasty (mushy inside)3. French fries whole lot of seasoning (Salty)4. 20+ minutes waiting instead of 10 minutes like I was told because they gave my order to another party and had to make my combo's over.5. Gave just 2 little Tartar sauce for two 3 piece combo's.#6 No mask wearing cooks (Covid-19 concern)I will not go back again. I will go to LA or wait for my Las Vegas trips and go to"Hush Poppies" whenever I want some good fried unhealthy treats. ??

So since this place changed owners, I feel like it went downhill. Everything is UNGODLY expensive and they also now charge you for tartar sauce, hot sauce and cocktail sauce which come in TINY little cups unlike before. I usually ended up getting 3 piece of fish and some shrimp with a side for like 16 bucks. She wanted to charge me 29.99 for my meal cause to add on 10 extra shrimp would be 20 bucks. wait sayyyyyyyyyy what ????? I can get a bag of shrimpies for 8.99 at wally world. I ended up getting what i could afford. FURTOF ALL The pieces of fish were the size of baby yodas ear. SUPER SMALL! When i bit into it it was touch, chewy and crispy, like an old mans foot. Guys you need to get the timing right on frying feesh. The bread was tough and not even buttered, and we all know you need to butter those buns * coughs * The shramp was a little tough also a timing issue, Hush puppies and mac and cheese were meh. Also im going to IMPLORE you guys clean the fryer vats cause yikes they looked like the bottom of the ocean. I was told this had new ownership, but YIKES.... SPIKES. Sorry but I seriously wish the old owners would come back. They knew what's up and didn't charge for hot sauce and tartar sauce. MIC DROP

As a Chef in Texas for many years this place is really good. Now I have taken my talent and I have restaurant consulting business. Anyhow I visited SCV few days ago. The portions are just right, you get the bang for your buck. After reading reviews and some people saying portions are small, they are not. Operating cost food cost has gone up. Blueface I have a lot of respect for you young man. This is a hard industry and your establishment is doing things right. Your staff was super nice and the food was amazing. My favorites were catfish and Mac and cheese. Here in Texas we know all about catfish. The fish was nice and crispy every bite I took. We also know a thing or two bout Mac and cheese. Man that was slap your momma amazing and cant forget to add hot sauce.. Amazing food with great atmosphere.. The Blue lemonade was just perfect to wash it all down with. I did not have dessert so next time I am in town I will for sure have some red velvet cake. Blue wish you nothing but success my friend. May God Bless you, your family and your restaurant. If I can be of any assistance to you, don't hesitate to ask.

I have been coning to this place for several years. Recently I went to purchase my usual meal and found the Fish Market had been sold. The new owner has increased the price of the plates, changed the portions and does not provide the same quality meals. My $10.99 fish plate had only 3 small pieces of catfish and the $18.99 - 10 fried oyster combo was over cooked; the batter was too brown and I'm not sure I really got my 10 oysters.A couple of oysters appeared to be fried batter. I probably got 1/2 of the former amount of fries. They now provide ONE small size medicine cup of hot sauce , catsup and tarter sauce. When I asked for more, the person serving me stated they can only give one. This place is no longer the good minority owned business it once was. It seems that is now a place that fleeces its own minority customer base. A great shame! I will not be patronizing this place ever again.

Not impressed! The big hype on this place is because a rapper purchased the SCV Fish Market. The name was supposed to be converted to Blue's Fish Market. When you go inside it still has SCV Fish Market all over the inside, no effort to change over the name & make it their own. That's kind of irrelevant to the quality of the food, but comes across to me as lazy. On the quality of the food we really expected some good quality soul food. First they got my order completely wrong & I had to come all the way back to get a new order made so I could get what I originally ordered. When I did finally get my food it was not good! The food lacked flavor, the fries were dry & hard. My wife & mother-in-law who are from Miami were also saying the food lacked a ton of flavor. The banana pudding was bland...not good at all. The red snapper was also bland & dry. Sadly this isn't good quality soul food. Very disappointing. Anyone who says this is good soul food hasn't ever really had good quality soul food.

The red snapper I ordered was perfect!...not too greasy. I appreciate the portions and don't mind paying a bit more for things when I know it is good quality and taste good. I'm from the mid west and it is hard to find any place that compares to the black businesses in my old community where they fry fish and chicken. This is the closest to the taste of home. I will definitely be coming back!

Would have got 5 stars but fish was a tiny piece other than that ?

Something this city was missing is some good Soul Food. This place fills that need! Some of you might be familiar with rapper Blueface, he is the owner of this spot. It also goes by the name Blue's Fish & Soul but the sign said SCV Fish Market so don't let that confuse you. The girl working at the front was super nice but I think she was a lil distracted with me, she kept saying I looked familiar like she knew me from somewhere.. Ok.. haha. I ordered the athlete platter but she ordered me the seafood platter instead, distracted as I said lol. No worries though the seafood platter was still bomb. I had to get catfish, with some mac and was hoping for red beans and rice but they were out. So I settled for fries. The fish was perfect! Great crunch on the outside and inside was moist and flaky. And most importantly, it wasn't super greasy. They know what they're doing here. The platter was $10.99 and with the extra side I paid around $14. The athlete platter is $25 so you're taking a big jump in price there fyi. They also serve fried chicken, a wide range of fish options and spicy sausage. And of course hush puppies and collard greens, gotta have em' at a soul spot. And we need to talk about the lemonade. Idk what else they put in it besides lemons and sugar but that thing was a potential addiction in the making.. SO GOOD! Idk if they have free refills or not(took it to go) but I kinda hope they don't or i'm drinking my week's calories in one meal here haha. Good vibes all around. friendly staff, rap music, food was amazing. I'm definitely coming back here! Maybe next time I'll catch Blueface hanging out

Don't waste your money on this place. First, they advertise that they are the SCV fish market however it's some janky wanna be fish/soul food takeout. Spent close to $70 on 3 meals: 2 "jumbo shrimp" meals. The shrimp were the size of a quarter, over cooked, rubbery and bone dry. They put way too much cornmeal on the shrimp. The hush puppies were undercooked and bland. The red snapper smelled old and tasted like the frying oil had never been changed and all of the fried products were very dark colored which is indicative of using old oil. The macaroni and cheese was was dry and crunchy. The collard greens were undercooked almost raw with absolutely no seasoning or flavor. The yams were flavorless and appear to be canned. Where was the butter, brown sugar and spices. I wish that SCV fish market hadn't left the SCV as there food was exceptional. And, it's a shame that there are no quality fried fish/creole restaurants. Will Not Ever Be Coming Back Here Again!!! What a a ripoff as all of the food was thrown in the trash! Very disgusting food!!! Shame on you guys!!! The worst experience EVER!!!!!
