Horrible! My wife and I love diners. We travel a lot and try to go to as many on the road as we can. The ambiance was nice. Lots of ocean vibes. The service was so so. The waitress was very nice though. But the food, the food was horrible and super expensive for a diner. We got a bacon cheeseburger (the humdinger), a bowl of pho, and a biscuit and gravy. None of it was good. Out of the three, the pho was OK. I would not recommend any of the things we got, but the menu was big, so maybe we just got the wrong things.

While the service at Santa Cruz Diner was excellent, and the atmosphere had a unique charm with a great view through its expansive windows, my overall experience was somewhat mixed. The tables felt old and sticky, potentially due to layers of grease and dirt, which was a bit off-putting. Unfortunately, the food did not meet expectations either; it was underwhelming to the point that I had to get my meal refunded as it was inedible. So while the staff was top-notch, the diner itself could really use some improvements in cleanliness and food quality.

Great classic diner. Easy to access driving towards Santa Cruz from the 17. You could spend a long time just looking at the fun stuff on the walls, or being mesmerized by the lit up rotating cake and dessert display.Flexible menu - basically you can order the huge list of breakfast items anytime and lunch/dinner from the hours on the menu.I had a Vegan Thai dish last time - a huge bowl of tofu and spuds and onions in a tasty soup plus rice. Delicious and perfect after a beach day.Staff are friendly and savvy.

We had exceptional service, our server was thoughtful and kind. The decorations were adorable and the food was so good and large portions for the price. Our server took it even further and brought out some scrap ham and water for our dog and stopped to pet her. I'm not local to the area but will definitely return in the future.

Let's start with the service. The greeter who seated us was nice and acknowledged us right away. Our waitress, however, took over 15 minutes to say hello to us and take our order. She was very nice and friendly, though. I ordered the teriyaki salmon rice bowl. The teriyaki sauce is not bad. A little heavy on the ginger. The veggies were good. The salmon was so overdone. They felt like bricks. I also ordered the fresh spring roll. Meh. Not bad. Bit great, either. My son ordered the humdinger burger. This boy loves burgers. He said it was just alright. It's so messy to eat. The bun didn't hold the burger well. My son's friend ordered chocolate chip pancakes. He said they were good. He also got a lemonade, and my son got a root beer float. All of this came out to about $100 plus tips. I definitely think the diner food we ordered was not worth $100. Three chocolate pancakes for $17????? I know times are rough, but it seems most of the food here is overpriced. Not going back again!
Stop in for a BLT nothing special about it. It was good but nothing to write about. I asked for extra mayo which came in the form of two packets. The young girl was extremely robotic and inhospitable. Knee-jerk responses without actually listening mechanical responses without any heart or actual communication skills. She needs retraining. I doubt you had any at all. All in all 19.80 for a BLT with a 20 plus percent tip

Fun spot to eat. Decor definitely gave Santa Cruz diner type vibes. Staff was very nice. Food was delicious!!! But the Clam Chowder....Wow!! I would drive back just to eat another bowl.
