This place is a great casual atmosphere. Food is great but not amazingly the best. However, the staff was just 100% the best. Really take pride and care of you. I don't think I'll be back but it was a nice experience.

Incredible service by Jordana (who looks like the actress Diane Guerrero)! She was extremely friendly and attentive. The food was delectable. We couldn’t stop eating the labneh and naan… the flourless chocolate cake was heaven.Amazing vibes, gorgeous atmosphere. 10/10, would recommend.

I only put 3 stars because the person who placed us chose 1 NOISY TABLE FOR 4 Even though there were only 2 of us..... I said no, that I wanted 1 other table. I ended up finding 1 quiet one for 2 with cushions! Supposedly without reservation, there is little choice. Ask as much as possible when you arrive for 1 beautiful, well-located table.

Our first time at the Proper Hotel in Santa Monica which makes for a beautiful entrance. This continued outdoors for lunch on a warm, breezy afternoon. The Mezze was excellent as was the friendly, efficient service. Overall a high end feeling to this experience.

FANTASTIC time at Calabra! The food was diversified and flavourful and the ambiance was awesome! HIGH recommendation for a group (we had 9 for a Birthday party) or friends or a date night. (*we got the wagu tamahawk - amazing. the salmon tartar was revered as one of the best dishes of the night. the mezze plate was perfect). Sadly, I can't give a bazillion points bc our service, though super friendly and wonderful was insanely delayed for our drinks. Maybe worth considering having additional staff at the bar? Or someone who is responsible for water?? Not sure, but it was quite disappointing for our guests - that's it though. We loved it and will be back for SURE! ☺️

The vibes at this place are always spot on and the service is great but this place is such a rip off. Drinks here START at $22, and if you order off menu they'll up charge you for “premium liquor” even if you didn't ask for it. Ordered a dirty gin martini last night, $27. Went with 2 friends, we shared 3 small appetizers, we each got two drinks, and the bill was over $300 after tip.

Good place to hang with friends. Food is great. Some of the seating isn't ideal for eating dishes. Service needs to improve; very slow and inattentive; I had to chase my waiter down for my check.

We has sophisticated guests from New York and everyone absolutely loved it. The only down side was it was cold and the restaurant is in the roof of The Proper hotel. Regardless of being cold the maitre d happily provided us with blankets and all was good. Great food, great people watching , highly recommended.

Good food to share with large parties, was very easy to get reservation same day for large party of 10 on a weeknight. Great rooftop outdoor seating with view of mountains and heaters to keep you warm!

Sat me in a hidden area not even at a table on some couch with a a low coffee table. Completely forgot I was there never checked on us had to get up multiple times and find the waiter to get more water and bring the check.

I had the worst restaurant experience at Calabra. We arrived about 30 minutes early for our reservation, so we sat at the bar for a drink. A bartender took our drink order and then promptly forgot about us. It took us 30 MINUTES to receive our Espresso Martini and Gin Blossom. Not to mention the Gin Blossom did not even have any alcohol and we had to ask for a new one. After we got seated it took 50 MINUTES for us to receive our Smoked Chili Roasted Chicken and Pan Seared Salmon. 50 minutes for chicken and salmon ANYWHERE is unacceptable. But at this price point I expected much better service. If you're going to charge $25 for a drink and ~$50 for an entree, it should at least arrive on time. During the 2 and 1/2 hours we were there, the service staff only came to our table about 3 times. And two of those were because I flagged one of the hosts/servers down. Overall, this was the worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant and I will be telling everyone I know to never eat here, no matter what. We would've had a much better time just eating at the lounge in lobby of the hotel.

This was my third time at Calabra and I've enjoyed each time. It's a great addition to the otherwise very anemic and old food scene. Unlike Beverly Hills, SM rarely has outdoor bars or restaurants, even post-pandemic where the most outdoor dining you get is in hastily created street side areas. So this it's a treat to be able to dine rooftop outside in a place that is nicely decorated with great music and vibe. The food is eclectic with new-ish flavors. The service for dinner our third time was okay given how busy it was (Saturday night). I fully expected that though as that's very typical of LA restaurants on a weekend. It took a really long time to get serviced with our drinks and then they forgot a glass and it took 20 minutes for them to realize. They were very accommodating about this and the GM came by to even apologize which was nice so it was still a great time. I'd say this is a great weekend spot or a wonderful place to go for a summertime lunch poolside!

The food was very good. We really liked it. We got a bad bottle of wine but the delightful manager handled that spectacularly will definitely be coming again. The only problem is there is a bit of disconnect between our so-called appetizers which we wanted everything to be served at once and there was 45 minute delay. No biggie will correct it next time.
