The staff here desperately need training in service (and personal grooming).

So, my partner and I hit up Pasjoli in Santa Monica for a fancy date night. The food? Absolutely amazing. Seriously, each bite was like a trip to Paris. But here's the thing: our server, Riley, was a total downer. Gave us attitude like we were bothering him and kept acting like we didn't know what we were talking about.Sure, we enjoyed the canard à la presse and the tartine escargot, but the server's rude vibes were a real buzzkill. To top it off, the bill hit us at over $350. I don't mind paying for good food, but when the service is that bad, it kinda ruins the whole experience.Pasjoli nails it with their food, but they seriously need to work on their service game.

They were out of the duck when I went which was disappointing and everything else we got was good but nothing crazy. Maybe the Michelin star is for the duck, but otherwise, I don't see it. Get more ducks!

Food of the highest quality, prepared with both ingenuity and meticulous attention to detail. Service timed perfectly and provided by pleasant and knowledgeable staff. Always a pleasure to visit Pasjoli.

We went to Pasjoli for a special night that had a Thai chef working in the kitchen with Chef Beren. The restaurant just started to do this and they will bring in guest chefs for special meals. It is a set menu and a set price. Although pricey it was an exceptional evening. The food was outstanding! It was a great experience.

I knew Chef Dave was a great chef after an amazing meal at the now closed Dialogue, for some reason we finally just made it to Pasjoli and I am sorry we waited so long. The food was exceptional the gratin dish had potatoes sliced so thin, you could almost see through them, but not really the cheesy deliciousness hid it very well but just loved the thin texture. I had the Boeuff and since I took 3 hours of French class in high school so I pronounced it right when I ordered it and our uber attentive waiter said he was very impressed with my pronunciation. Have to say, I dont mind being complimented, it made the experience that much more delightful. Also had some little round ball dish, I dont recall the name but I cant forget the sauce that you get to pour over it. When the waiter tried to take the little container away my wife almost slapped him because she insisted on dipping anything else she had left to gather the last drop of amazingness. Cant wait to go back! Oui Oui.

I was disappointed. We had been here pre-COVID and enjoyed ourselves immensely. Part of that experience was the "pressed duck show" table side presentation. We ordered the duck again but were not advised that the "show" is no longer part of the program. We had guests from out of state. No one raved about any of the food except the beet salad. We had monkfish and sturgeon. Good. Not great. Appetizers: gouger, pate, deviled eggs were all very good. Server - Chris -was attentive. We spent nearly $800 for 4 people with no wine or dessert. The value proposition is not good. We sat in the garden which was quiet but looked like a space set up for COVID dining. No charm.

As a repeat customer over years having had great food in past visits I was very disappointed with the what was supposed to be the amazing dry aged steak! While it was cooked to right temp the meat was extremely tough and lots of sinew all over the steak .it may as well been inexpensive supermarket steak. The service staff were all great my server Luke was kind and attentive I can not say same with manager or whoever was in charge of kitchen! While disappointed hopefully next visit will bring my faith back in consistent great food .

No complaints about the food. The biggest problem was the service. It started off fine, we ordered the food and drinks with our waitress. The food started coming out and the waitress never came back to our table to see how everything was or to check if we were done with the courses. I had to flag someone else down every time to tell them to clear the plates and that we were ready for the next course. I found it very irritating that she was checking on every other table except ours. I would have ordered another glass of wine but I couldn't order it with anyone. Not sure what her problem was. It was also very disappointing to see that there was an 18% gratuity included in the bill because it was definitely not deserved. Probably will not be returning.

The food at Pasjoli did not disappoint at all. We had the deviled eggs (loved), beet salad (liked), pressed duck for 2 (more than loved), sturgeon (more than loved), potatoes au gratin (more than loved), chocolate souffle (loved), and the lemon curd in a meringue (loved). The courses were paced well and the food arrived at the appropriate temperatures. I dinged the service not b/c it wasn't pleasant, all the people in the restaurant were friendly and happy to help, but the service provided seemed disjointed and a bit delayed. This never rose to being an irritant, but it was noticed. When I compare the service here to other restaurants at this price point, and quality, Pasjoli does need to step up its game to earn 4 or 5 stars for service. I have read several reviews focussed on Pasjoli's surly service, and we noticed no sign of that. We would 100% return to Pasjoli. The food was absolutely delicious, the service was friendly, and the vibe, for a high end restaurant, was relaxed which we also appreciated.

Technical Space

Michelin Guide removed the star for a reason. Prepare yourself for a night to forget forever at Pasjoli! highlights of frustration include: psychic communication, gaslighting and no accountability or regard for your as a customer.

My husband and I enjoyed the cuisine. It reminded us of our childhood memories and our visits to France. Will go again. Cocktails were fabulous too. Our waiters were excellent in assisting us with the menu. This was a great date night. March 1st, 2024. EJ & MJ 5 Stars Plus

I was a returning customer and I had a terrible birthday dinner tonite. Me and my friend drove from OC on Tuesday night under heavy rain, when we got there it was not too crowded and it had few big tables available. Maybe waitress thought we wouldn’t order too many so we got a tiny little place. Meanwhile there were another 2 groups with 2 parties came in same time, they got big tables, interesting. After we finished order, it’s definitely too many for a tiny table but waitress even not asking if we need a bigger place. Unbelievable! And she checked several times for other tables but just 2 times for mine, I had to ask her for more water… back to food, I don’t know what happened but every single course was way tooooo salty we barely to finish even half of the plates. And other tables had a quite long introduction about the main course ( the signature duck) but we only had 1 min briefing. The manager checked back to us and gifting us a free cheese cake which was sweet, thank you. But honestly it’s just too late. I was too disappointed and rush to leave because I need get some other options before all restaurants closed. Total was $458 or $485( my friend paid the bill I couldn’t remember clearly) for 2 ppl with cold service and awful food, I don’t think you want same experience as mine. Btw we are Asians.Updates:Ann, thank you for your sweet explanation with everything, first of all please be aware of, as customer service, I think your employee should have their judgements to check if customer needs a bigger table or could just kindly offer “ hey I think you might need a bigger place let me know if there’s anything I could do for you” I think this is more decent way as customer service especially as a M1 star restaurant. And as I mentioned during that time there’s more than 1 bigger table available, there’s nothing wrong if you guys can’t offer a bigger table at that moment, but as better customer service I think you should and you could even just ask. I work as luxury retail I know what customer service is. About Waiter/ waitress checking, I strong recommended you check back with your camera see if I was telling a truth or I am creating drama. And way back to the food, I understand for some time somehow, it might happened the food was overcooked or over seasoning. But if the entire courses came with same issues, I think you should improve your quantity controlling instead of pointed that I was wrong or I declined your options. Because it’s unacceptable if a M1 star restaurant had such issues. And forgive me I had no time to wait you guys re-cook everything. Because I don’t need pay my time for your mistakes. Overall, thank you for your cheese cake again but good luck for your future business.Have a great night!

The food at Pas Jolie is very good, but the prices are over the top. The wine list offers offering only three wines under $100, and the majority are well over $125. The entrees are in the $60 and up range, and a side of broccoli is $21. I mean, in what world is broccoli worth that price? The wines that are in the $100 range are average at best and not worth the price. Again, the food is good, but I think the prices are really high, and if we do go back, we will definitely bring our own wine and pay a corkage fee.
