These are good burgers -not great burgers They are expensive burgers. it's kind of like a fancier 5 Guys inside. Shakes are delicious but again really expensive.

Popped in here on a Friday night recently and really enjoyed it! About an hour before close and they were busy but service was great. We were tempted by some of the tots starters but stayed with our burgers...I had a patty melt and my companion had a burger. Both were well prepared and tasted great! Had a real neighborhood feel. This restaurant is in a cluster of places in a mini courtyard. Parking is either on the street, or if you go around back there's a ramp down to parking below. Be careful not to park in the reserved spots. Meters on the street stop taking money at six, so that's where we ended up.

I would add their delicious chili on EVERYTHING! Great burger with tons of custom options to choose from. Very nice service and open restaurant with easy self seating. Easy and ample underground parking a plus

Man...this place was always solid. But today I went in and they told me they have new owners. Plus side of things - fries are now included. Downside though they changed the burger meat / recipe / patty and the type of fries they cook. It's more of a sysco frozen patty than what I was used to at The Counter. Doesn't taste fresh and flavorful. Sad. Had the trip tip skewers and the meat was mushy and gross.

Food was ok! I got a build your own burger, it was ok! Not special enough to be $20! Also it felt small! It should have been bigger! The fries were stale and small! I'm giving them 3 stars because the service was great

This place is expensive for an order-at-the-counter restaurant. Why? I’ve always wondered. The bison burgers are solid, and very customizable, but to me the expense comes down to:1) Great service2) The included side dishI had Teo as my server at this location and he was on-point - he got anything I asked for, and thoughtfully followed up several times (spaced out nicely). I also heard him ask his team members multiple times over an hour if there was anything he could do for them. Nice job, Teo!

This is the second location I've tried -- yet issues persist. I mainly ordered from here to get drinks. I ordered some food just to add items to the order but it was about the drinks. Then, when my order arrives, none of the drinks were there. There were supposed to be sodas, milkshakes. NONE OF IT WAS INCLUDED. And then I looked at the food order of that wasn't entirely accurate either. I ended up getting over half of my order refunded so that's not really the issue. Just felt like sharing my experience.

One of the best, if not the best burger spot in the area. I've been in Santa Monica my whole life, but never came in. Finally, I came by with my niece & my friend and it was great. Thanks to Edwin for taking care of us you were awesome & we'll be back!

Went to this location for the first time in a while last night for dinner while visiting with my mom I've been here many times before but man the service and overall quality has gone way down, after we were seated our server didn't bother to give us silverware sets and we had to ask for one a different server brought us a set but then all the sudden said "oh I'll be right back " and took what he gave us to get us a different set which could only mean that the set he gave us was dirty. We both ordered a custom burger I got what I usually do when I go and so did my mom but we noticed that both of our burgers didn't taste as good as they used to we didn't even completely finish the burgers but after we were done I wanted a build your own shake and for whatever reason our server brought it to our table in a to go cup when we wanted it for the table and not to go. It's clear that the overall quality at least for this location has declined unfortunately I can't say that I will be back here anytime soon and recommend anyone else who is a long time fan be aware.
Went to get a burger and found out they have root beer floats! Mr Edwin hooked up the float to perfection. Very friendly staff. They were all smiling...I noticed. Thanks again Edwin, I'll be back for burger, onion rings, and root beer!!

Today I was craving a big fat burger. I hadn't eaten all day so it was time. I love this location on Ocean Park Blvd in Santa Monica. It's got an easy breezy neighborhood vibe. Teo was my waiter. Super friendly. I sat outside because it was empty and wanted my solitude. My burger took a minute because I ordered very well done. That was fine because I wasn't in a hurry and it was beautiful outside. Along with my burger I got sweet potato fries that came with the most amazing dipping sauce. I ate every single bite it was absolutely delicious. It was a great experience as always and of course I'll be back.
