I recently read that newly-appointed upper management at Chili's was shaking things up to lower costs and restore profitability. I wanted to find out personally how that was going. And I was not disappointed... I will focus here on drinks because that is where restaurants generate the most profit. I will stipulate that the food served us was OK, no more no less. So my date and I went to the Chili's in Santee CA around 6:45 PM on Saturday March 4. We were told that a table would be available in 20 minutes; we therefore decided to have a drink at the bar. Interestingly enough, happy hour is all day Saturday and Sunday. We ordered the "famous" trifecta margarita for $6, which was an attractive price point. Unfortunately the drink was terrible, totally washed out by an overly sweet margarita mix and piled up with ice cubes: it had practically no taste of alcohol/tequila. I did not question the bartender because I did not want to embarrass my date. But that was quite a bad start. And things did not improve, far from it. We then went to the assigned table and ordered our meal. We wanted to have some wine with our food and perused the menu. Interestingly enough, the menu had prices for all the food items but none for drinks and wine. Again, I did not want to embarrass my date so I did not inquire about the prices (by the way, is it not illegal under California law for restaurants to display pricing for food and not for drinks ?). We nonetheless ordered one 6 oz glass of Merlot for me and one 6 oz glass of Pinot Grigio for her. The wine was mediocre, at best, and I found out it cost $7.89 for each, an outrageous price for such swill. Now, I know how Chili's is planning to make money on the backs of its customers. Be warned. Don't get taken in and go patronize more ethical establishments.

on 3/14/2022 we were made to wait approximately 30 minutes while there were open tables with dirty dishes on them not being cleaned up promptly. after being seated our server promptly took our order and brought our drinks. the wife ordered from the lunch specials, we noticed that the electronic device indicated that everything was indicating a higher price than the specials. we notified the server and she indicated that it was not correct and corrected the issue. After waiting 30-45 minutes we were joking that they must only have one cook when the wait staff told us that there had been a problem and that our order had not been sent from the wait staff computer to the kitchen. she told us she was sorry and was fair with adjusting our bill. after getting our food we were using the fork from the paper bag they put them in and had need for a knife. when I pulled my knife from the bag it had dried food on it (disgusting) I then asked my wife for her knife it also had dried food on it. our server again said she was sorry, offered a free desert which we declined. The manager never once came to our table which is probably the same reason the silverware is placed in paper bags while dirty. We are now concerned about Covid-19 due to the lack of cleanliness and concern at this location. (DISGUSTING). THE ONLY GOOD THING WAS OUR SERVER.

This place isn't "it's just wings" they are just chillies. There are no signs for them anywhere. I thought I went to the wrong place. I spent 30 minutes looking around before I realized they are in the Chili's. Should be in the name on maps or at least outside the building.
