The best steak hands down I've ever had. And I had the best from New York at Lugars, to the Golden Steer in Vegas. Impecable service, and the setting is truly just a family friendly place. The owner is awesome, and the cook, well, I want the secret to that perfect cooking experience. I'm coming back next week. And make this my new goto place

we were hungry, & in Shafter, California, and we found this hidden gem that was not much to look at from the outside, we were greeted by the owners, and I asked him if this was Cantonese cuisine? he said yes, so it happens that we love Cantonese food, but mostly in Bakersfield, which is where we would we would normally go, there's a few good places there, such an unexpected surprise! as far as egg foo yong goes, it was the best ever! And we also ordered chow mein with shredded pork in it, and again, maybe the best chow mein I have had in my life? And I have had Chinese food in many different places.LA is my hometown, and there are many great places there! This place is as good or better than any of them!

Went there today (10/20/23) for the buffet and was so disappointed. I had everything they offered at the buffet and it was just not great in taste. Just to list a few things, the chow mein and fried rice was lacking and the sweet and sour sauce was freezing cold which turned me off completely. I only went for one plate and could not finish it. The service was ok. Server greeted me and came by and asked if I was doing okay a few times. The overall vibe of the restaurant was ok. I think it kind of looked cluttered but I'll leave it at that. Overall, I don't recommend eating here unless you like bland food.

Food is always great especially their steak! It's very literally the best in the county. The service is good, the owner has remembered our order to the t. Good and calm ambiance it's a great local mom and pop restaurant that is underrated.

Yep, we ordered steak at a Chinese restaurant. I read on Facebook BAKERSFIELD LOCAL RESTAURANT GROUP someone asked "Where would you go for a nice steak dinner?" Among other restaurants mentioned, China Cuisine at 563 James Street in Shafter came up quite frequently. Since I've never been to China Cuisine, I gave them a call to see whether their steak dinners were available for lunch. Yes, we could order steak anytime of the day. The ribeye steak was so tender, flavorful, and juicy. The wait staff was friendly and gave great service. The meal came with salad bar, choice of potatoes [I chose baked potato], or rice or rice pilaf, plus toasted French bread. Yes, I agree China Cuisine serves some of the best steaks in Kern County. I am looking forward to trying some of their other dishes. However, it is hard not to think of their delicious steaks and their prices were so reasonable.

After talking to some friends about having to drive to downtown Bakersfield for good Chinese food, they recommended this place. To me, it’s all about the chow mein, and today I found my new favorite place. It’s in Shafter but literally a super short drive vs downtown Bakersfield. The owner told us his story and was helpful with ordering suggestions.We’ll be back for sure!

Wonderful local spot well worth the drive from Bakersfield. Established in 1989. Survived a fire in 2005. Came back serving all their best dishes, and still going today. Spacious open dining room, with touches of Chinese decor. The owner is so kind. Always welcoming and friendly, bantering with all the locals. Service with a smile and a laugh here and there. The food is always spot on. Their not so secret specialty is a nice big juicy ribeye. Cooked to order served with your choice of side, a salad bar and toasted bread. Seasoning delicious served on a hot plate. Tender and juicy. My E dinner had so much food. Sweet and sour pork always a favorite, with ribs, fried shrimp, Chow mein and fried rice. Large portions and plenty for my midnight craving or lunch tomorrow. Great spot, so glad to have a family owned place service their community. See you next time
