Best bbq i have ever had. That first bite was to die for. The flavor of every component in that tray of food was exceptional. I will definitely be back to try that pudding.

Zef BBQ is a refreshing departure from standard Texas-style BBQ. Logan Sandoval and team create a wide range of BBQ fusion dishes. But, you can still find the classics like brisket, pulled pork, sandwiches, cornbread and collard greens. Only at Zef can you find BBQ ramen or curry. Their sandwiches are perfectly balanced. The bark of the brisket is very salty, but it works well with the large cut. Everything is very flavorful, to the point that you'll want to include a blander food like cornbread to help clear your pallet.

We wanted to find this BBQ but unfortunately we didn't find it. That's why I can't say how it was there((( I think it was just closed. We have to get food somewhere else now. I hope that not everyone falls for it. I'm really sorry that I didn't talk about the food but about the write location.

I've been following Zef BBQ on instagram for a while, but we finally got to try them. I looked for the menu on wednesday and pre-ordered and paid for our meal to pick up on Saturday.5/5 - Charro Beans: Excellent! Great flavor.3/5 - Brisket: This was the important one for us. You cannot select lean or moist, but you get a mix. Sold by the 1/2 pound. The lean meat was dry. The moist was a little better, but there was very little in the pound that we purchased. Unfortunately, this will kill future orders for us.3/5 - Tri Tip: Great seasoning... but tough meat.3/5 - Island Mac Salad: This was NOT a mac salad... it was mac'n'cheese. I don't know if it was a mistake. As a mac'n'cheese, it was pretty good, but I was expecting a mac salad. Another disappointment.I know that the menu changes weekly, but I am reluctant to try again because the meats just weren't good enough. So disappointed.

Simi Valley isn't known for its food but, this place might be a very welcomed exception. This BBQ is absolutely excellent and definitely lives up to the reviews. We haven't had a chance to try it while in town as we never seem to time ordering right, but finally made it work. Highly recommend! Super stoked about there upcoming sit down restaurant. Will definitely be the first stop next time I'm in Simi Valley!
