NEW OWNERS have ruined this once precious gem. Every single server and the single takeout runner/host all seemed lost. The scene was nothing short of chaos, pure unfiltered chaos. Every table was standing up to ask where their orders were and why it's taking so long. Empty tables had not been cleared while a line of people waited for a table. Plates of food along with takeout containers sat around on the counters as the staff tried unsuccessfully to figure out what went where. The runner/host looked at the same ticket no less than 30 times and opened the same takeout containers 30 times and still couldn't clear the orders. My personal takeout order was completely wrong. I've ordered the same thing for over 20 years. When I told her the order was wrong she said that's what I ordered. That's when I finally asked "new openers right?" Because this has never happened here before in 20 years. The answer as to evade the question was "it's the same food". But that's the problem it's not the same food! It's just not! The quality and quantity took a nose dive. Under seasoned to the point that I just want to hand salt to the cook and ask if he knows what it is. Do yourself a favor go to the one in paramount because this gem is no longer the beloved hole in the wall it once was. I see this ship sinking soon so please jump on a lifeboat and row away as fast as you can.

This place is pretty funny. $26 for an appetizer & 2 cokes. If this was an actual restaurant and not some gross little hobbit hole in the middle of South Gate I wouldn't be complaining but the prices didn't make any sense. Seafood is pricey I understand that, but I got a plate of cucumbers and unseasoned, no batter, old oil fried octopus that was so disgusting we couldn't eat it. $18. Service definitely needs to be better. Waitress stared at us when we entered and didn't say a thing until I asked if we could just sit anywhere and she nodded. It wasn't busy at all, we went at a very early hour so there really wasn't a reason for us to not be greeted or told where to sit. Every place operates differently so it'd be nice if they make it clear you can just sit or you have to wait to be seated. D**** Anyway... We sit down and start looking at the menu, nothing under $10. We were looking to get ceviche & it's usually not inexpensive but this place was way too pricey for the quality. We got turned off at the fact we had to pay soda fountain prices for the cokes but they were bottles so no free refills. I'm not going to pay $12 for coke, dude. The waitress seemed annoyed at our presence right from the start, she was very standoffish even though we were all "Please & thank yous" she'd just give us dead eyes. Normally, I wouldn't mind but for the prices I expected at least some kind of good service? Gave us menus and just said, "what do you want?" Girl? It's polite to say hello, how are you, welcome? I don't want you kissing my feet but just a generic greeting is appreciated? I've worked retail and can understand how annoying it is to deal with difficult customers but this was the opposite and for no good reason. She asked us what we wanted to eat, then maybe 10 minutes later took our drink order. Whole process of ordering 2 cokes and an appetizer took almost 50 minutes because the unaware waitress was eating & watching TV while we waited. Didn't even bother ordering any more overpriced food. We left the octopus dish untouched (literally only tried one and it was disgusting so we left all of it) and we still got charged the full amount for the dish. I didn't ask for a discount or anything but we seriously didn't touch it. Was just subpar quality. Didn't get an apology for the awful dish either. Was kind of just like an "oh well" sort of response we got from the waitress. Rude. The octopus was literally tossed into a fryer without any kind of batter or seasoning, then placed on top of a mountain of cucumbers. Idiotic dish. Sorry I wandered into your establishment, won't be doing so again. Cockroaches right outside the door and y'all are charging chain restaurant prices. Get real. Some advice: thin out your menu & focus on a select few dishes. The place is a mess of tacos, ceviche, sushi, soups, enchiladas, etc. Pick a lane. Don't have an item on your menu if you don't bother serving it with some quality or even seasoning it. Sorry excuse for a restaurant and the creeps that wandered into the place made the experience even worse.
