Coffee Affogato is my favorite ❤️

I love this place because it's the closest and possibly only shop that has dairy free ice cream. It's in an adorable small outdoor mall with ample parking. There's never a huge line, it's open late, and the service is very patient. I like coming here after dinner to grab a scoop as a treat since it is expensive. But the menu has a good variety and my picks have been tasty so far.

Some mixed feelings about Van Leeuwen. Staff is always pleasant, and I love the location also selling similar pints that you would see in the market. However their ice cream itself has been hit and miss a few times. Happy to sample all of the flavors, but some just end up being a bit more creamy than others. At the risk of being basic, their cookies and cream is one of my favorites!

Love this location! Quick, always attentive and the ice cream, you can never go work with Van Leeuwen! One of my go-tos has been the pistachio, it's creamy, savory not as sweet and keeps you indulging for more.

I work in the plaza and consequently find myself in here quite a bit, so I'll allow myself the title of a self proclaimed expert. Everyone I've spoken to or interacted with is not only friendly, but beyond pleasantly conversational-- even remembering the events/topics I've mentioned in visits past. They always humor me and my indecision, yet I never feel that my sampling is taking time from other patrons because another one of their employees is already tending to the next guest as I make up my mind (I have to have a different flavor every. Single. Time). The timing and rhythm of the staff's service is impeccable, albeit so natural you almost wouldn't notice if you weren't a meticulous and neurotic Career Yelp Reviewer. Thanks to the brand's selection of tastefully bright colors and perfectly eclectic song selections (think 2011 & 2017 indie and pop had a baby), you'll feel at home right where you are--a classic LA staple, as far as ice cream goes. You'd honestly be a psychopathic nitpicker to say anything less. ALL THAT BEING SAID, there is one thing to 100% know before you go: Sam (ginger wearing beanie) is incredibly talented at picking out personal flavors, like TERRIFYINGLY GOOD AT IT. All you have to do is say hello, tell him your current mood, most recent impulse purchase, favorite song at the moment, and the last letter of your middle name and he LITERALLY will blink and recommend the most wonderfully and unfathomably perfect flavor for you at that exact moment. It's crazy. The man has got a psychic ice cream talent, I swear to god. I send all my friends here after they've been dumped. You'll never forget the moment that an obscure and fantastical ice cream flavor was recommended to you in the way in which HE presents it. It's a party trick. For real. Goated

Easily the best ice cream in all of LA! hands down. my fav go to's are the pistachio and fudge brownie with fudge on top! So good, I pop in too many times to admit. Not only is the ice cream incredible but the service is superior as well; Andrew and Sam are the coolest people ever!! Always makes me happy to see them. Thank you Van Leewens!

I love their ice cream, but $6 something for a small scoop of ice cream is ridiculous! Inflation is crazy but this is just downright stupid. I can buy the pint at the store for that or less on sale. My kids got sundaes that were $13, they didn't care for them and didn't even finish them. The whip cream on the sundaes was not great. So all in all it was a successful outing $35 dollars later. Workers were nice but no one was in there, felt bad for them. Parking is crazy and gets a little crowded. I think I'm good with going in store, I'll just get the pints at the store.

I figured since I was in the area, I'd give this particular Van Leeuwen a try. Have to be honest and say I've tried them more than a few times, hoping I'll get it right. However, I just can't seem to win with this place. This time around, I just went with basic chocolate, figuring I cannot go wrong. Service was just okay; very robotic as if she didn't want to be there. They don't accept cash, just card. I certainly didn't hate the ice cream, it's just not my favorite compared to Jeni's etc. I even prefer the basics over the Salt+Straw type, but it just falls a little short for me. Glad I gave them a shot though-

Finally! I got to try this ice cream and my family too. They have pumpkin cheesecake ice cream, which is not vegan, buti sampled it! Wow! Anyway, I came in to try the vegan ice cream. So I sampled the sweet potato marshmallow pie, and strawberry shortcake, which were vegan. They have other flavors. The strawberry shortcake was good and tats what I ordered. I think they use coconut milk. I need this in Columbus, Ohio, but closer to my house. I want to come back and try onethat my friend had. It was good.

1 star for service 5 stars for ice cream.Unfortunately, the staff on August 8th at around 8PM did not deliver welcoming customer service. If they properly did their jobs, this review would've been 5 stars. There was a small line as my party walked in. Whenever it was someone's turn, these ladies would not say anything like "I can help who's next," they just STARED at you and if you wouldn't come up to them, they would just talk amongst themselves. When it came to my turn, I waited and made eye contact with one lady for a good minute until I decided to just start my order. As I was telling her my order, she had no facial expression, said nothing, scooped. She didn't even offer me any toppings and just went straight to the register, where another lady who also doesn't know how to talk, just entered in my order without telling me I could process payment. Instead, she set up the tab, turned around and spoke to her co-worker about some guy. I stood there without instruction for a good 3 minutes while this convo was happening & finally - one of them said "oh? No cash." Great! We could've saved time if your cashier was actually paying attention and told me sooner.Nonetheless, I paid with card and ate my ice cream. We stayed a little to see how else the other customers were treated, and it was exactly the same. I understand working with co-workers that are friendly, but you're still working. Managers should look at schedule and review. Oh- ice cream was great by the way! I would've loved to try the toppings if I was offered the chance. It is on the pricier side, but I love my sweets and this place served quality ice cream. I will come back, hopefully at a different time with a better staff. Looking forward to how management will handle this feedback.

Cookies are just the start to this crazy kaleidoscope of creams. Mac n cheese or mustard ice cream can be confusing but fear not! Open your mouth and taste the rainbow of colorful pallet stimulation. This is a must have after a splurge at Sugarfish.
