This might be the worst Bawarchi ever. Chicken 555 and chicken majestic was pathetic, old and dry. We loved Bawarchi in Colorado. The starters and biriyani used to be so good there. It is a disappointment in California. We ordered the same menu we used to in Colorado. I understand that the taste can’t be the exact same. But I don’t understand how the base recipe itself is different and bad. The taste and quality is just awful. Seems like a very irresponsible branch of Bawarchi. Avoid at all costs. Waste of money.

We called twice in last 2 days to the restaurant and the response from the guy has been nothing but awful. Whoever owns this place, please teach this guy how to respond to customer queries. Will never ever order from this place nor will recommend anyone.

I really enjoy the food here. I’m very basic with Indian food. But I get chicken tikka masala and some garlic naan and it’s a great way to end my day! Only think is make sure not to order online on their website. For some reason it doesn’t get to them and they then have to make the order once you arrive and show them a confirmation. Just call and place an order!

We ordered mutton dum biryani and Vijayawada chicken biryani, what a disappointment. This place has gone down like crazy from 5* to 0. This used to be the place for iconic red colored vijayawada chicken biryani when it was introduced in 2012 before any one in the Bay Area. The chicken and mutton were stale, rice is dry, the salan was watered down like some one added a cup of water just before handing it to me. Damn everything was bad. Please buck up or you will have to shut shop soon. I would absolutely warn folks from going to this place.

Food is ok, and there service is pathetic.. after ordering from phone for the pickup you need to wait in the restaurant for 15min even though your food is ready. There is no one to attend on the front desk. On top the pathetic service they charge 3.5% extra on your bill as service charge.

Ordered veg and non veg biryanis. Both were definitely not fresh. Rice was dry and meat was not fresh. Taste was ok. Not an authentic biryani taste. I went with lot if expectations but it was a very nominal usual taste.

The guys at front desk are very very rude. They think they are giving the food for free. And this 3.5% extra if you pay with the card is new, encouraging cash payments to avoid taxes. Coming to the food, this used to be one of the best restaurants when it was in Bharat Bazar and also when they moved to spice hut initially. It has been going downhill for for the last couple of years. We got spoiled curry once, was overcharged the other time. Even then I kept going there to give them few more chances, there were cops too once. We just got Hyderabad chicken biryani and chicken is spoiled. Chicken lollipop isnt what it used to be. Why one star? Bawarchi used to be a gold standard for Vijayawada chicken biryani especially for spice lovers. It is unfortunate that they are taking customers for granted and do not know how to treat or talk to customers coming to eat or pickup food. I really hope they turn it around and become the bawarchi we all loved for almost a decade.

We have Togo order today. Dosa was almost roared in dark brown ( burned ) I would say. And biryani didn't taste fresh it has that weird smell that usually you can smell in stale food a night or a day old food. This is first time I experienced it after a very long time here. I am really unhappy with my experience today :(Hope this Sunnyvale branch can do better!

Wort customer service and worst food as well, biryani isnt good at all, rice is undercooked and chicken doesnt taste good.
Vijaywada chicken biryani is my favorite here if you have a stomach for high spice level. However, at times the chicken is stale so it's a hit or miss when you order.

Been ordering here several times and so far I only have good experiences. The wait for the food is expected. The staff are nice. One was even trying to have a small talk of why I like Indian food. I told him "I can eat paneer biryani and Veg noodles everyday' and never get tired of eating those. My husband likes paneer dosa and samosas. The noodles can sometimes be bland, but I'm okay with it because if you put the sauce that comes with it, then that's where the salty and spicy flavor come in. I also have tried the fish dishes. I feel like they overly cook to the point where it becomes crunchy. But again, could be just me but I like it that some are crunchy (lol). Just be aware that there is a 3.5 percent charge on the credit card (on top of the total amount). They skip tipping though so I guess that's okay.

Don't ever place online order to Sunnyvale restaurant... They don't get any online orders. When we go to pick it up they say the order goes to Santa Clara branch and if they don't inform us, we don't get the order. So be careful while placing the order. Also the person at the counter does not understand the problem and says I can't help. Just horrible.

Great tasting food smells great too. Very fast ,took about 10 minutes for chicken and rice plate. It was delicious and slightly spicy.
