Very tasty Shanghainese food. I loved the pan fried buns and the pine nut sweet and sour fish above all.

It’s a treasured home-cooked restaurant that we go to often. Sometimes there are new dishes in season.

This place has the best Fried Pork Buns (shēng jīan bāo 生煎包) and braised fried rice with pork I've ever had!!!! I order those 2 dishes every time. The fried pork buns have extremely juicy and tender meat with the perfect flavour and amount of soup. The buns are fried to a beautiful golden brown on the bottom adding a layer of crunchy texture to the tender meat and soup wrapped inside. Each bite is bliss. The braised fried rice is very 香, it has a great flavour and makes you want to keep eating more and more.I've also tried their Spicy Minced Pork Dry Noodles and cauliflower but those were too dry and not as good. They have both a brick and mortar location (seems to be a good location (also nearby Hanabusa Cafe!) with decent environment/seating inside) and are also available on Uber Eats.

I ordered wonton soup, and the meat filling was still frozen. When I asked for a replacement, they just threw away the wonton I had already bitten into and reheated the remaining ones. Throughout the whole experience, they never apologized.

Tiny portions (17 dollars for 8 small rib cubes?), overpriced items, slooow service (gave our ordered bao to the wrong table). Not recommended. Check the one in Palo Alto, that one is better all

I would be exaggerating if I said the food is average. The dishes are oily, salty, stale, I didn’t get a sense of Shanghai food, though we ordered all the typical ones: 马兰头,熏鱼,红烧肉 etc。What is worse is they automatically added 18% to the bill for group of more than 5 people. However, my younger daughter (8 years old) didn’t eat anything and barely sat there for 10 mins and left. But we were still charged for the 18% automatically. When I asked, a staff member gave me a cold shoulder and said it is a headcount regardless of eat or not or how long she sat at the table.BTW, their POS won’t take Apple Pay, which seems to be very unusual for a restaurant these days.

Wish we checked out all the recent reviews before coming... Food resulted in diarrhea. The pork in the pan fried dumplings were smelly and definitely not fresh. The dough and topped sesames also tasted bland. The sautéed shrimp super salty and extremely expensive for the amount provided. Super slow service. Ambiance wise, contemporary design however super slow at receiving the food. Extremely disappointed. Will not be coming again, do not recommend!

Got a seat right away at 6pm on Sunday night. There was a little bit of a wait for take out. There were also large parties of Chinese people eating so I thought, wow this is going to be authentic! We had a toddler with us so things had to be fast. They had a high chair and seated us right away. What was disappointing was the xlb and pan fried buns take 25 mins to make. They make it when ordered so there was no way we would probably be able to order it. They said they had a lot of to go orders too so it would take a while. They told us the noodles would be the fastest and any of the pictures on the menu would be their specialties. I ordered the minced pork dry noodles, beef tendon noodle soup, braised pork belly with bean curd, a seaweed and cucumber appetizer.None were spectacular. The beef noodle soup wasn't very flavorful. The dry noodles was just sweet, so was the braised pork belly. The seaweed wasn't even very flavorful, I expected more garlic or vinegar on seaweed bows. Even the cold spicy cucumber dish was not smashed and didn't taste good. I miss ASJ. I didn't think a Shanghai place could be bad but this place really missed the spot. Not much else in the plaza so I wouldn't go out of my way to come eat here.
