We love Rok Bistro. The servers are always friendly, attentive, and make sure you have what you want/need. This makes for a fun date night for me and my husband!

I made a reservation via Yelp for my husband's birthday dinner. The reservation was super easy to make, and I was able to get a table once I showed up. My husband and I ordered the Combo Rok for 2, which came with a choice of four 4 oz sized cuts of meat on a 700 degree hot rock. We both wanted the filet mignon, so had to pay an extra $4 to get an additional. We also got the buffalo and bison. They each came with their own set of sauces. I ended up just using the BBQ sauce for all the meats, but I'm pretty sure I just drowned out all the meat flavor so couldn't really tell the difference between the different cuts. They were all good though! The experience was really unique overall since you basically get a slab of raw meat to cook on this hot stone, so you can cook it to your heart's content depending on how cooked you like it. It also came with a choice of 4 sides, so we got 2 mashed potatoes, mushrooms, and rice pilaf. The rice pilaf was kinda dry, so I wouldn't recommend it, but I loved the mashed potatoes and mushrooms with the meat! After this awesome meal, we decided to get the Fererro Rocher chocolate fondue, which also came with two plates of things to dip in the fondue. Out of all the fruit and pastries, my favorites were the bananas, strawberries, pound cake, and Rice Krispies. The fondue tasted great and all, but my biggest complaint was that they don't give you enough stuff to dip for the amount of fondue there is. They claim you can ask for more and that it's unlimited, but each time we asked for more, the waiter would bring out 4 tiny fruits/pastries on a small plate. We probably had to ask him about 4-5 times to bring out more, and by the end of dinner, the chocolate became a bit burnt since we were sitting there waiting for them to constantly bring more out. They should figure out how many pastries/fruits it takes to finish the fondue and just give everyone that amount on the initial plate to avoid this problem. Rok is a bit expensive overall, but I really enjoy this unique experience! I'd probably only be back for special occasions in the future.

A bit pricy, but this is a fun dinner experience with friends or with a date. You get to cook your own meat on a stone slab, and dip things in cheese and/or chocolate. The meat entrees are around $30-35 per person, and fondue is another $10-12 per person for cheese or chocolate. If you have someone to share with, you can try the Rok Combo which gets you more variety (choose four different meat options to share between two people). I did that with my wife and thought it was the perfect amount of food. We opted to both get filet mignon (extra $4) and then share a boar + buffalo. The meat was high quality and tasted fresh; and since you're cooking it yourself you can get just the right rarity for your preferences. They give you an assortment of dipping sauces but honestly, I liked it best just plain. I recommend the buffalo over boar; I thought boar tasted a bit tougher and more gamey. The fondue is a fun dessert option but this is where I was not satisfied with their service. They give you unlimited dipping materials (fruit, pastries, cookies, etc) but you have to constantly ask for more. We had 4 people and each time they'd bring out enough for us to have 2 bites and then need to wait for more... I'm not sure why they aren't more generous here, cause I can't imagine that some extra strawberries/pineapple is going to break the bank... In any case, I'd recommend this is a fancier/fun dinner experience when you're looking for one. But given the price, I don't imagine myself coming here super often.

Great spot to go on a date or with a group. Great location with plenty of parking. Cocktails were good pours and very good. The rib eye was everything you want from a steak. I took a star off because our waitress was ok although seemed to want and rush us. All other staff members were fantastic.

Came here for Mother's Day brunch. When we came , the place was not too busy. We were greeted and seated right away. The waiter took our orders pretty fast and was able to give us few choices and great recommendations. We had the Combo Rok with Rok and Pot Jr, avocado salad and shrimp and scallop. All of them were tasty. The chocolate fondue was enjoyed by my daughter. Overall, service and cleanliness of the place A+

This has been my favorite restaurant to eat at in downtown Sunnyvale. The most important part is that they care if you're anywhere near the restaurant and welcome you in. I was at Nom Burger for like 10 minutes, didn't get seated, greeted, went to the patio to see if maybe we get sat there, didn't see anybody even eating and I'm thinking "wait a sec do people even remember what restaurants are for?" So in the slightest, most elegant fit of rage ever I just walked over to Rok where I was pretty much ok with spending 3x at this point and I was guided in, given a very nice window table, and did our thing. Food ended up being great, my pictures aren't going to be better than anybody else's here but for the price you pay you get a neat steak dinner in a nice part of town, sides, a great and compact drink menu with sides if you're a little husky like I am, pad it with an appetizer. I did the boar and filet mignon, usually I just double filet but boar meat is complex and interesting. Bar drinks are balanced. I'll probably be back this week.

I ordered the prawns and scallops meal. The seafood tasted fresh and the side dishes were very good (I had mushrooms and coconut rice). I was most impressed with the service. Very polite and attentive. Our heating lamp went out and the propane tank was replaced right away. Really nice and recommend

Excellent customer service. My friend dropped a piece of her steak and they replaced it no questions asked. Tasty and the apersol spritz was actually good.

With Covid-19 on the retreat in the area (for now) and Santa Clara County back to the Orange Tier of reopening, and with a nice warm evening to boot, we decided to troll Murphy Street for a bit of a dining indulgence. After about half an hour of indecisively walking up and down the block, we landed at one of the outdoor tables at Rok. Though indoor seating is now permitted, we weren't inclined to take that chance with just half the family vaccinated at this time. We were seated right away, and though we would have preferred one of the truly open air tables, the only one available for our party was under the tent. It was a little dark, but when the breeze picked up later in the evening we appreciated having a little shelter. We agonized over the menu, trying to select from the multitude of fondues and main dishes. Our dinner ultimately consisted of: Appetizers: Tomato basil soup - one of us was not feeling especially hungry, so it was just soup for her. This was hearty and rich, and was truly a meal in and of itself. The size of the serving was somewhere between a cup and a bowl. I can't actually imagine eating this as an appetizer and then moving onto a main dish. California Dreamin' cheese fondue - quite delicious but just a touch too salty for my taste. It was served with a variety of vegetables and cubed bread, some of which we didn't expect to find with a cheese fondue (e.g. pickled pearl onions, gherkins, and carrots. Main dishes: Note - the meats are served on a hot rock plate, and are still quite rare when it's brought to the table. However, you can cook the meat to your desired level of doneness by simply letting a piece of meat sit on the rock. NY Strip - very good, though I've never been a big fan of this cut of meat. This worked well with the chimichurri dipping sauce. Buffalo medallion - I'm certain why this is called a medallion because it was a big hunk of meat. Buffalo is an easy meat to screw up; treat it the wrong way and it turns out dry and tough. By virtue of the relative undercooking of the meat before serving, this misstep was avoided. The meat was surprisingly tender, and had nice rich flavor of moderate intensity. Elk - this was one of the "wild things" game menu item (the other was wild boar). Again, this was more tender than expected, and the flavor was distinctive but not too gamy or intense. There was a sense that this cut has a higher iron content based on its taste. Personally, this was my favorite. Sides - coconut rice was fine but a little dry. Mushrooms were a good accompaniment, and the steamed and sautéed vegetables were treated well. Dessert: Chocolate fondue special - milk chocolate and Ferrero Rocher chocolate with almonds. Soooooo good; we loved the nutty undertones. This came with a nice selection of fruits and cake pieces, plus some unexpected choices such as blackberries (who eats chocolate blackberries?). Tip: there's a "Rock and Pot" option, which combines a cheese and chocolate fondue with one of the main dishes. It's an added per-person charge, but not everyone at the table needs to order it. For us, only two of us ordered this option, but the fondues were shared among all four of us, and it was more than enough to satisfy us. Basically you're splitting an appetizer and a dessert. The service was excellent. The meal proceeded at a relaxed pace; there was a nice interval between courses so that it didn't feel like one plate was being quickly replaced with another. All the staff were wearing masks - and wearing them properly, too. There was a bottle of hand sanitizer on each table. This place is a bit pricier than the other restaurants on Murphy; for the Rock and Pot (main dish plus fondues), expect to pay around $50-60 + tax and tip depending on your choice of protein. Cocktails were about $8-12 each. They add a 5% minimum wage surcharge to the bill, to cover the higher wages mandated by Sunnyvale city law.
