I went there on Chinese New Year and got my yearning for tangy spicy food satisfied. I ordered a medium veggie spicy pot, which made the vegan in myself quite happy. My friend ordered a 3-beef pot and nibbled from mine. It was definitely too much for the two of us - next time, I'd probably order a medium pot for 2 people and add some side dishes.I'd give 5 starts for the taste and the authenticity. But taking off 1 star for the ambient. It may be a great place to indulge the palate, but not a great place for dates / treating friends.Vegetarian options: veggie pot option: replace the meat with 6 veggie side dishes of your choice.

Stopped in for lunch. Ordered dry hot pot beef and lamb combo with some other additions. Service was good, waitress kept our water cups full. Food was great, everyone enjoyed. Portion size is a little smaller than some other dry hot pot restaurants but still decent. Definitely on my list of restaurants to revisit.

This place used to be called Sizzling Pot King. I used to frequent here prior to the pandemic (sometimes multiple times in a single week), but today was the first time I went after they changed their name. In the past, even though they had their shortcomings, especially related to the service, the food was very good and the portions were generous (I have a separate review on that, for those who are interested: Despite their bad service in the past, I had introduced many friends & acquaintances to this place due to the food! However, I was very disappointed today. I had called ahead, and the order was ready when I arrived, so full points for promptness. But the food itself was way worse than before. They have significantly increased their prices, and at the same time decreased the portion size. I ordered the large combo pot with lamb and "fish steak", with a side of rice; my order was to-go. First off, they gave me the item in an aluminium tray, and the packaging was done very well to keep the dish warm for quite sometime. But the size of the tray was highly misleading, given that most of it was empty! The lamb was outright disgusting - chewy and flavorless. The "fish steaks" were not fish steaks at all - rather cheap cuts of fillets of some white fish (presumably swai), which were overcooked and had no taste whatsoever. The whole dish was primarily potatoes, which I like, but considering the price point, it's certainly not acceptable. There were very few pieces of either protein, and some pieces of the other side dishes. In the past, their standard toppings included sprouts, which they no longer give. I used to like it, and the replacement they give now, which are cucumbers, really harm the overall dish in my opinion. Lastly, they should bring back the catfish, and get rid of this disgusting white fish they gave in its place. Since they are charging more and giving less in quantity, I don't understand why they would do this as well. The only explanation is unnecessary greed. I will not be going back, unless extremely necessary, or if other friends plan for this place.

Huge portions. Omg we ordered a large size with 2 meat options. The portion is so huge that we feel can feed 6 ppls definitely great value and very reasonable price . We ordered medium spicy in our opinion , medium spicy is Very bland . Mediocre flavor . The meat are very tender though .

Came here for lunch on a whim with my Hunanese mother, and she was impressed with the food. When they say spicy, they MEAN SPICY. And it was absolutely amazing and authentic. If you want a taste of Hunan for REAL, this is a legit place. I've traveled to Southern China for business quite a few times, and this place has the flavors, the textures, AND the attitude. And it's delicious. We ordered a super spicy stir-fried beef, where the beef was perfectly tender. The fried green beans had chinese sausage and while a little bit too flavorful on its own, paired perfectly with rice (as most Hunan dishes should). The fried garlic bits in the dish were delicious, too. Pig ears were amazing - spicy, salty, and tender with a bit of crunch. And my mom ordered this spicy sour chicken soup which I'd never had before. A little bit like Tom Yum soup from Thailand, but more numbing spice in the soup. Baby bamboo shoots are what give it the sourness, apparently. This place is legit authentic. If you're looking for a place to pamper you, look someplace else. If you want a place with proper spice, proper flavor and textures, Hunan House is a hidden gem.

This place used to be called sizzling pot king. And their food quality had gone down over time. They recently changed their name, and this time I had a overall good experience. - Very attentive service. - Good quality food. Less oily than other dry pot places. - Good portion for the price. (Comparing to other hunan restaurant) One problem is that the dish wait time is a bit long for a 6 p.m. dine in, and I think it is because of the amount of take out orders. Will definitely be back.

So Hunan House and sizzling pot king are the same restaurant… I don’t really get this. Anyways, I have tried dine in once for hunan house and delivery for sizzling pot king. Both experiences were not great. The place is warm and no ac apparently. The dishes were ok but not exceptional. However the price is not fair for the quantity. They added cucumber and too much cauliflowers into the dry pot which is not usual lol.

Tasty food. We had sauteed lamb with rice and chicken noodles. I do agree with other reviews as sauteed lamb was bit salty but it tastes right with rice. Noodles was not salty. Overall good service and good food. Good portion for the price. Would definitely go back to try their duck.

Recommend sizzling pot and do not like the hunan style of cold noodle, definitely salty …

I'm disappointed to write this review. The food is delicious. However, I had an unfortunate online ordering experience. Their online order system includes a tip automatically set to 15%. In a rush, I neglected to cancel the tip for a takeout order. I realized after placing the order. So I called the restaurant to request if they can cancel the tip. They first said that it can't be changed. So I said to cancel the order and I'll place a new one. So they said they will just give me the cash during pickup. When I arrived, the guy at the front desk said it's taken care of. However, I never received the credit / refund to my credit card. While the food is generally good, the experience shows some dishonesty from the restaurant, or at least the man at the front desk. Won't be coming back here.

Food is good. But it’s not spicy enough for me.

Favorite Hunan restaurant around Bay Area! The flavors are mostly great. Love pork tripe soup and grridle cooked foods the most.

I've been to this location a while back, but looks like they changed name (and maybe menu?) so need to try again!Ordered the sauteed beef because that looked like a popular choice from Yelp, and also bean curd with chives. Both dishes were delicious! The level of spiciness is perfect on the beef dish, and even though I'm not a big fan of chives the dish very much worked together. The portion size was also decent, I took the leftover and make a few more lunch boxes with it. :)Will definitely come back for more cozy spicy food!
