Oh Cho Cho San how sad it is to see you decline in quality. I ordered the lunch special with 3 hand rolls and there was more rice than fish, also the seaweed looked old, and the prices on the regular menu did not match the inside of the restaurant. The restaurant is a round bar with the guy in the middle making your sushi, the place is really small, and when you walk in you definitely smell the fish. The service was okay, but I will be closing the chapter to Cho Cho San. Back in the days this place was amazing but not anymore.

Some of the best sushi I have ever had. Also the teriyaki beef and chicken was cooked to perfection. 10/10 would recommend.

The food here was incredibly amazing, the service not so much. Our waitress never came around (literally only to drop off the food and to hand us our bill), but the Itamae here was very friendly and social. At $25-$30 per roll and only one actual table in the entire restaurant, I would not recommend this place for anything more than a casual night alone. Also, $18 for two waters and two fountain drinks is absurd.

We have been going to Cho Cho San for many years. The food is consistently excellent and the service is great. We have tried many other sushi restaurants and have not found a better one.

My wife and I are in love with this place! Excellent chefs, sushi and service. Best yellowtail sushi. Period!

I'm giving an update after all these years of being a dedicated patron to Cho Cho. We actually prefer the Thousand Oaks location in terms of service and quality nowadays. However, this location has seen it's time and I'm sad that it has shown the age and decline. Management has gone downhill and so has some of its quality yet we still go back Bc it is the OG place and we love the tradition of their signature rolls. They also still manage to stick around despite the other location down the street closing (kind of glad Bc it sucked and service at the time took advantage to dip more into tipping themselves more on our CC but that's another story!)I want to add that since my kid has joined our restaurant foray, she tends to order the "other" items they may not be known for including their ramen. I have to say it's actually not that bad! It would not be traditional in the sense of ramen we eat but flavor and portion is fairly on point and she liked it so we'll give it that. Overall, I hope Cho Cho San stays around and maintains their status as a standby for us Bc they helped establish our journey into Ventura Blvd. sushi joint discoveries over 15 years ago. If they can keep those rolls with their quality and improve on the service, it can hopefully remain a mainstay, at least in our repertoire.

Good sushi and good Teppan little slow on Service and a little pricey. But overall, my family loves it we eat here at least 2-3X a year.

Good sushi .... Only wish their prices were not so steep. To charge $10 for cheap white wine?

BIG SURPRISE…the sushi was really good! Service was great as well. We decided to give this place a shot after a long hiatus and will definitely be back. (I think there is a new sushi chef).
