Best place to learn about wine while yours drinking it.

Used to enjoy the atmosphere but the last 4 times I have tried to go door is locked during business hours. I get the economy but if a patron has wi.e to pick upat least get a message machine or post real hours on door :(

Grapes and Grains did a beautiful job redecorating the place, which I knew it as wine on the dime. Brian who is the owner is so handsome amd such a good host. He is friendly, kind and goes out of his way for his customers. Even some of his customers are so wonderful and fun to hang around. I miss this wine place so much and I'm so happy to see it under a new management who continues to make this establishment fun and continues serving delicious wine. Stop here before heading to the other wineries, you won't be disappointed.

A really fun experience. My wife and I stopped in for a few minutes on a late Sunday afternoon. We met Brian, the proprietor, who provided us a diverse tasting of his wines from California, France and Germany. Great variety, wonderful host and a really nice wine bar and shop. Just want to say “thanks” for a great visit.

I really enjoyed my two visits here. Brian the owner was very helpful! He put together and a mixed six pack of beer for my husband of some very interesting beers. He was open to hearing about the beers we like in San Diego. The space inside has numerous tables to sit at and purchase a bottle of wine or beer and enjoy there with no corkage fee. Or you can pay 10 dollars for a tasting of some very different wines some of which he is trying out to see if he wants to buy for the place to sell there. I tried some things I would never get to try otherwise. Also they sell charcuterie plates, which are reasonably priced.

This place is so quaint and laid-back. Great atmosphere and the owner is very informative and attentive. Will definitely be back!!! Nice evening out without too large a crowd... socially distanced, of course

This place is fantastic! Wines from around the world extremely well priced. Local beers of all kinds and even some tap! Inviting and comfortable setting makes you want to stay. Buy your bottle and enjoy it on-site with personalized charcuterie and bring your friends!!!

Since new ownership took over in late 2019, Grapes and Grains has improved the quality and diversity of their beer and wine selection. You can find everything from unknown German marzen, hazy IPAs, Napa Cabs, to French Viognier. Brian, the owner, genuinely cares about delivering first-rate customer service while working hard to keep the doors open instead of becoming another CoVid statistic. Its not uncommon for friends to get together for weekly or bi-weekly small, spread out wine education events. Support small business by supporting Grapes and Grains.

Great service, great selection. The staff at grapes and grains are always friendly, they know their wines. I'm glad they're open right now, it's a nice spot to sit and enjoy a glass of wine. They have smaller tables, very laid back with plenty of social distance. It's a nice alternative to heading all the way out to wine country, especially during the popular times of the week.
