Huge disappointment! Ordered the grilled fish as presented on the menu and received pan fried. I asked why the fish was not grilled as presented and the head waiter said they don't grill fish. When I explained that that is what they have on the menu, his reaction was "oh well" There was no offer for a make good to take off the bill.... This tells me that they know what they are doing and don't care. Too bad, they used to be really good but the last three visits have changed my perspective.

The food wasn't good, real Authentic Mexican food has a lot of flavor. This place cover it with making the food spicy and no flavor.

Went there last night. Bad experience. We looked online before we went prices were very inexpensive. We knew they must have been outdated prices. Ordered from very battered menus. Prices were higher than on line. When we got the check, the prices were $2 and $3 more than the printed prices. My husband got a menu, thinking we did not see the prices correctly. The general manager followed him back to the table and wanted to know if there was a problem. We pointed out the price difference and he showed us a worn out sticker on the front of the worn out menu that stated that prices changed 1 year ago in March of 2023. He told us over and over again that the chips and bean dip is expensive and he needed to raise the prices. We thanked him, but he kept going on about the salsa and bean dip. We told him that the Mexican cuisine restaurant we usually go to charges much less. He said he didn’t think so. We called Yolandas and he asked how much the enchiladas were. Sure enough they are $5.00. About $4 less. He again went on about the chips and salsa. He didn’t think we got that Yolandas. We do and a choice of abot 8 different salsas. He did lower the price of our meal to the menu prices after he made a scene. He told us that menus are expensive to print but he was getting new menus in about 3 months. We didn’t ask, we didn’t care. He lost 2 diners and anyone else we can share this experience with.

The bean dip alone is worth the trip. We've been coming here for over 15 years now. It was the first place we took our kids. They love the food and the staff who are always very attentive.

do not waste your money going to this restaurant I'm 92 years old I live on a fixed income. I saved up to take my granddaughter out for lunch so we could have a nice lunch. Unfortunately we chose to go to Lastos amigos my granddaughter ordered a tamale. It was a plate with rice and beans and one cup of meatball soup. It was only approximately 3/4 of a cup of soup with one meatball. Then they brought out the tamale which was still wrapped in the paper and also 3/4 of a cup of rice and approximately 3/4 of a cup of refried beans , she opened up the tamale and it was mainly masa. There was no meat except a small little thin line and no sauce inside. It was absolutely almost edible. She ate a few bites of it and said it wasn't any good at all. I ordered the soup, the same as my grand daughter had the 3/4 of a cup with a meatball then , she opened up the tamale and it was mainly masa. There was no meat except a small little thin line and no sauce inside. It was absolutely almost in. edible She ate a few bites of it and said it wasn't any good at all. I ordered the soup, the same as her had the 3/4 of a cup with a meatball , there was extra charge of $1.99 for each of us for the cup of soup I ordered enchilada it came out like a square package to 2.enchiladas next to each other with a little bit of sauce over and the enchiladas were tucked underneath made like a burrito I went to take ia. nite. and found after one bite it was cold. frozen on the inside I called the waiter over and told him so and he said oh he would have to put it back in the microwave. I guess it was still frozen it is obvious that the food they're serving there is just frozen like enchiladas were they were terrible the sauce was terrible almost inedible. I was very disappointed with the whole thing. I also had asked instead of having rice and beans. Could I have a small salad. because of my diet restrictions The waiter said oh no, you can't do anything like that Bbecause I am 92 years old I eat a lot of Mexican food in my lifetime. This was the absolute worst that I have ever tasted. The food was very expensive for what you got in the end. I had paid $48 for a small tamale that was no good. Two small enchiladas that were just out of a package. from the freezer You could tell it because they were in a square like you just got out of the box heated it up in the microwave and even that they couldn''t. do right so I had to send it back as I just said, DO. NOT do not go to this place and waste your money. I had saved up for a couple months, extra money to take my granddaughter out I was really cheated by this restaurant with the food it serves, and it's attitude towards its customers. Don't don't go waste your money there. Also the photos showing their food must be from an o other restaurant because their food sure did not look like the pictures they're showing they must've copied them from a decent restaurant I really was at the restaurant on Saturday, February 24, 2024. My name is Mary Don't don't waste your money there. Folks go any place else.

As others have mentioned, they have outdated menus from March 2023 that don’t have current prices. They have QR codes on placards that sit on the tables but they don’t take you to a current menu either and the online website is even more out of date. I asked if the actual prices are consistently different than what was on the menu and the server said everything was $1 more. So we ordered a $9 À la cart taco and the server said that it’s $2 more. If you want $11 mediocre tacos and other overpriced mediocre food this place is for you. The service was friendly and courteous but I can’t understand how this place is still in business given the prices, menu issues, and quality of food.

Me and my sister have always come here on our lunch break, had always loved their food. But recently I believed they changed staff which they're awful rude and food is horrible ... never coming back.........

I've been coming here since I was a kid, so close to 25 years and the food has always been delicious. That bean dip has been a they serve with chips is second to none. Pro Tip: if calling in a take out order, if a lady answers the phone and puts you on hold, just hang up and call back in a few minutes, or you'll forever be on hold every time. Just this person though.

We were going to a show at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Theater and this place was close by. I looked at their website and they had the menu posted online. I wasn't really hungry and I saw that they had a Mexican shrimp cocktail for $12.95. Sounded perfect. We arrived and sat down and we were asked if we wanted drinks, my friends ordered margaritas, I was driving so I asked for water. I looked over the menu and noticed that the Mexican shrimp cocktail was now $20.95, a substantial jump in price from their $12.95 online price. When the waiter returned with our drinks (which took forever by the way) I pointed out that their pricing online did not come close to matching the menu pricing. He then pointed to a sticker on the menu that said the pricing had gone up in March of 2023...it was now December of 2023. Not being in total shock of how prices have gone up in recent years, but still not all that happy with a 50% difference in what I expected, I ordered a Mexican shrimp cocktail anyway. Food, service and ambiance is what I should rate...ambiance...not so much...just low class dive Mexican place, like expecting budget minded. Shrimp cocktail I'll give a 4-star, pretty good, have had better but was a little skimpy on the avocado. Then we were ready to go, and were needed the bill, again a bit slow. I look at my bill and I was charged $24.95 for my Mexican shrimp cocktail. I called the waiter over and let him know I was over charged and I handed him my bill. He comes back with a copy of the menu and points to the sticker that says we raised our prices in March and sets the bill back down in front of me. I then ask for the owner, and the manager comes over and I hand him the bill and explain that I was over-charged. He points to the sticker on the menu and says that is the correct price and sets the bill in front of me. I ask to speak to the owner and he says he is not here. At this point all of my friend are noticing that their bills are all higher than what the menu prices are. So at this point we are 9 months after the stickers were put on the menus and they still have not printed new menus with the correct pricing, and at one point as we were arguing with the manager he says the pricing posted online is from 20 years ago. Well shame on you for leaving that $#!t up there. Oh, and did I mention that the margaritas were $18, what are we at a night club. One of my friends mentioned that the last time they were in Mexico it was like this, they are shown one price and when the bill comes it's something completely different. I would say to the owner, check with your managers and staff about how they deal with an issue like this. Just to throw the bill back in your face and say there's the "sticker" doesn't leave a good taste in my mouth. Sorry to say, none of us will come back to your place.

LDA wasn't extraordinary; their menu was excessively extensive, offering numerous options that felt overwhelming. Though it appears pricey initially, the portions are generous, making it reasonably fair. I would say two could easily share one plate. While I didn't dislike LDA, it wouldn't be my top pick for my next visit to Thousand Oaks.
