We found a healthy eating treasure in Burbank called Tocaya Modern Mexican. It's a clean cafeteria-like atmosphere in which you can order from your table using a QR code or walk up and order from the cashier. My son called it a new age type business where cash is unacceptable. The food is clean, old-world, and fresh with classic flavors. I enjoyed the Baja fish tacos; the hot sauce brought the flavor out. The corn bowl was excellent, too. The strawberry basil drink was refreshing, along with the sangria. The service was perfect. We will be returning.Vegetarian options: Excellent Variety

The food and service were great. However the AC was so cold that my friend and I were both freezing. I would love to come back but please keep this place at a comfortable temperature.... I don't want to bring my down jacket dining here.

So this location taught me that Tocaya has a serious consistency problem.I frequent the west Hollywood location and I guess I've been spoiled by an actual hot plate of food. This location was extremely dark, AC was on high in the middle of January, and the $32 plate of food I ordered came out stone cold.I walked to the front and asked them to at least pop it in the microwave for me.They have no microwave.Okay, so that gives me a lot of concern, if they are serving me cold food that means they are not bringing it up to safe temperatures in the first place.I told them to refund me and I went somewhere else. This location should honestly be shut down. They were empty anyways.Manager was very flippant about it, all she cared about was making sure she didn't accidentally refund the single $4 taco that I actually ate Lmao. What a joke. Also, there are half a dozen other reviews with the same exact issue - cold food. This place is going to get someone sick.

It's ok. Kind of upscaling Mexican food. I'm more of a Poquitio Mas guy.

A business that won't take cash - you can't fool me into supporting this absurd gimmick. Not a fan of businesses that don't use the actual money this country uses daily. Why not? Is it too hard to count? Give me a break. Don Cucos is way more personable and authentic. And, they serve the margaritas. Bye.

First time eating here and I'm sorry to report it was the smallest burrito I've ever had. $22 + tip for a burrito and a cider, chips are $3.50 extra. Not much chicken in the burrito and was hungry an hour later. I get it expenses are high in LA, but you order at the counter and they deliver the food, so there's not much of a wait staff. They also didn't provide any napkins or utensils with the food. Won't be back, as there are way better options in the area.

Strolled into Tocaya to celebrate a co-worker's birthday one lunch. Very hip on the inside with a lot of plant life. Makes the whole place feel even more organic than it already is. I checked in on Yelp and low and behold I got a free side! Things are starting out well.I come to the front and order my food. I really felt like eating a quesadilla so that's what I ordered but didn't really feel like having meat so I asked if it could just be cheese. I showed the free side and asked for that to be guacamole since someone else ordered salsa and queso sides to split across our whole table. The guy behind the counter took legit 6 or 7 minutes to figure out how to discount the free side to the point that I offered to pay for it and he kept saying he was going to figure it out, meanwhile the line behind me was getting impatient and I could feel the bad vibes of "Thanks for making us wait so you can have free guacamole" being breathed down my neck. Whoever he called over figured it out with two taps of the register and I finally was able to sit down. Our sides came out and we snacked on those. The salsa was great, guac was okay and the queso was way too runny. Then came our food and I was sad to see that my cheese quesadilla had chicken in it. Considering it was the second to last dish to come out and my one co-worker waited a full 5 minutes more for her meal, I chose just to keep it with the chicken. It was a good quesadilla, but not worth the price I paid for it.I wouldn't be opposed to coming here, but am not craving it. I appreciate the 'organic' perspective but I'd rather go to Don Cuco's and have some enchiladas.

First time eating here and I'm sorry to report it was the smallest burrito I've ever had. $22 + tip for a burrito and a cider, and chips are $3.50 extra, so luckily I passed on those. Not much chicken in the burrito and was hungry an hour later. Friends ordered 3 tacos, which were also very small at $6 per pop. I get it expenses are high in LA, but you order at the counter and they deliver the food, so there's not much of a wait staff. They also didn't provide any napkins or utensils when the food was delivered. Won't be back, as there are way better options in the area. Hard to believe they have multiple locations with such small servings.

after leaving sushi down the street, I felt like I need it another bite. My friend said there was a chipotle syle spot close by. I didn't realize she was referring to Tocaya which I was never really a huge fan of but interaction at first sight with Jose made us stay and we enjoyed ourselves. He gave us recommendations on what we should try. My friend and I both got burritos. The fajita burrito is so amazing and I recommend the Diablo one. They have a variety flavored margaritas, which are good. The jalapeño definitely has a kick but in a good way he also recommend that we come by on Tuesdays for the taco Tuesday special., Jose is hilarious but his friendliness is seriously what made us spend even more money as he kept recommending things to try and have my friend and I considering going back soon. I have worked in the service industry for over a decade and I love employees like Jose . The customer service is top-tier I will be back.

Food is great. Taste and presentation is good. Service is not good. When the server served me the food, i realized, i am going to be thirsty coz i ordered a burrito and taco. Hence i asked the server who wears big black glasses for a glass of water. The waitress pointed me out to the cooler and said its self service. I was sitting outside and the cooler was far away inside. The waitress made several rounds from inside to outside to serve one of the other table with drinks, extra sauce, napkins, cutlery etc. While doing that she could have grabbed me a glass of water but she didn’t. It was not at all hard to do that. Plus the restaurant was not at all busy. This tells me that servers do not have the incentive to help guests and provide a good customer service coz they know the customer has paid upfront and they are not going to be tipped if they do something above and beyond. A simple glass of water. I left the restaurant without grabbing water and drank some which was left in mu car upon leaving. So yes, thats my expereince. A great customer service is the cornerstone for a restaurant to be successful. You can win a customer’s heart and mind with great food but a good customer service will keep bringing them back to your restaurant over and over again. That will be my advice to them. A customer always observes, consciously or unconsciously. We do!
