I've seen a few less than favorable reviews for this place, but for me, JKE has always been a 5 star experience. No, it's not a gourmet Japanese restaurant. It is a straight bento joint, and it doesn't try to be anything but. However, it does just that quite well, and does so at a very reasonable price point. Everything I've had thus far has been very good, but I have particulary liked the Makunouchi series the most for its volume of food and variety of contents. Furthermore, each item in the bento is prepared and seasoned very well no matter how small it may be. Often times, when you go to some take out joints, their main items may be great, but the sides tend to be "meh". At JKE, that is never an issue as I can tell they put effort into each and every item inside their bento box. Some of the poor reviews I've read may be due to the lack of help they are experiencing recently. A few weeks back, they were not taking sushi orders, so, I asked why that was and the girl behind the counter mentioned that they were having problems finding enough workers to fill the requirement. Otherwise, I would think this place would be getting 5 stars all day. Highly recommended!

I discovered this place because I wanted something fast but didn't want bento's from the local Japanese markets. Your order is made to order and it's just like any bento you can get at any of the Japanese markets only it's made to order. Price wise a lot of the stuff if cheaper if not very well priced and worth it because of its freshness. I took one star off because it lacks vegetarian options but whenever my family wants bento I order it here

Great food. The counter person can be a little too trusting as I ordered a lot of food once. Then went to Daiso nearby to kill time and ya know find quirky stuff that only costs about $1.50. However, when I came back to get my food somebody took mine. The cashier was cute "maybe they will bring it back" but it became clear that wasn't an option so they made good on it and I'm loyal ever since. I just make sure I get back by eta.

Very unprofessional. They NEVER answer their phone so today I decided to go to the store to order and they said they stopped serving at 12:00 due to the protests. It was 12:08. Maybe get a phone that works? And their postmates are always unreliable, they put it offline most of the time. Their tekka rolls are good though but a freaking headache trying to get them.

How long have I had this place bookmarked?! AWHILE! No idea why it took me so long to check it out, but hey: better late than never, eh?! It caught my eye awhile back because of two reasons: the variety and reasonable pricing! Their menu is extensive enough for me not to make up my mind which to get, so I started off with TWO bento boxes. #11: Hamburg and Fried Shrimp Bento. It was a lot of food! I thought I knew what to expect, but WHAT! It was a beautifully arranged hodgepodge of different sidekicks of food. (I love the many options of cleansing your palate with these!) The shrimp was cooked with the perfect tempura crunch. Adding a dash of katsu sauce brings it to another level, but good even as is. The patty, though! Seasoned so well and cooked tender and juicy (how'd they do that?!) Highly recommending this! #10: Mackerel Bento. This one I saved for lunch the next day. It pretty much had the same back-up characters #11 had except for the whole mackerel thing. The fish was seasoned and grilled great. It contained the exact flavor my taste buds were expecting. Might be too "fishy" for some, but I loved it! FOOD: 5. (There was nothing I didin't like.) SERVICE: 5. Take out only. It was made to order and done QUICK. VALUE: 5. You get more for your money, really. PARKING: Private and shared with others. Not an issue during these quarantining times. OVERALL: 5. Really, I can't think of anything I didn't like with the whole experience. I will most likely return to try all their other combos.

Good quick service. Even have hand sanitizer to use After you sign. Take out bento packaged very nicely. Food still tastes fresh, good portion. Their ssukiyaki is delicious and tonkatsu has nice darker Fry to it than chicken katsu. Great for lunch!
Delicious, homemade, and very reasonably priced. My favorite is the pork cutlet curry, crispy on the the outside and moist on the inside. Paired perfectly with the delicious curry, it reminds me of my mom's home cooking. Sushi is great too, tekka roll is my go to. Fresh ingredients, perfectly cooked...this place can't be beat. Hard to find another Bento place like it.

JKE= Japanese Kitchen Express I am so happy to have discovered recently JKE Bento. It's perfect for these days where we are getting takeout. Their food is quick and super affordable. It slightly reminds me of all the different food stations that can be found in the busy train stations of Tokyo. Everything here is great in prize. Some examples: California rolls for $4.49, Hamburg Curry for $7.99 and bentos for $7.99 I recently got the Sukiyaki bowl for $5.99 and my mom got the Karaage Curry for $5.99. I thought both were very good! I was particularly impressed with the Karaage Curry because it even came with two sides of green salad and macaroni salad. What a deal for $5.99! I think this is a great spot for a quick meal and look forward to trying some of their other dishes.

Been going to JKE Bento for around a year now and it's become our goto for cheap Asian comfort food. The sukiyaki beef bowl has loads of different ingredients/seasonings mixed in for such a cheap dish, and the beef curry is always super creamy.

I ordered for my Grandmother from another state during the lockdown and they were on time, diligent and respectful of my wishes to social distance by leaving on the front porch! My grandmother said the food was excellent!
