I am surprised to see the amount of positive reviews here. This place was horrible! I hesitated from giving a review at all because this is a true mom and pop shop, but the standards here were so horrible, I felt it necessary to share my experience. First of all, the lady managing the place was screaming and shouting the entire time we were there - even ordering her elderly mother around so rudely, who was the waiter. It was so obnoxious it was extremely hard to enjoy your meal there. Needless to say, service was horrible. I was hoping that bad service and a not so clean shop may be just the precursor for really good food, but oh was I wrong. The crueler was way too greasy and the tea eggs looked like they were way too old. My friend ordered the pig feet noodle - when it came out, it smelled absolutely putrid. I ordered the beef noodle soup, and it smelled just as rotten in its own way. We were so repulsed, we did not even eat the two dishes. We did force ourselves to finish the Taiwanese breakfast items. To no surprise, we both got food poisoning when we got home.

Came here for Fan Tuan at 3pm but please note the kitchen is closed from 2-5pm, while baked foods are available to purchased in the front. Luckily they had 2 fan tuan left and I bought them to go. It was really delicious! Would love to come back here on Saturday morning for Taiwanese breakfast from 9-12.

I only go on Sat to order the Chinese breakfast. I will never order their Chinese style bento though. The rice was too soft.I think they don't even really know how to cook rice.

The breakfast was average. One of the staff members was extremely loud and constantly shouting. It was very hard to enjoy the breakfast and she didn't seem aware of just how loud she was being. I would skip this place and avoid all the chaotic noise. Also, the place is extremely cluttered and needs to be cleaned up. Random fish tanks, basketball and various items on the bar area counter. Can only imagine what is stored in the kitchen...

Love the food here. The pork chops, pork belly, and the beef and tofu and rice are delicious. The chachiang mien is very yummy. The three delight is sooo good. If you pay cash, you get free boba tea for certain dishes. The beef soup is very good and a go to dish for our family. It's family run and the Saturday Taiwanese breakfast should not be missed. Get there early at 9. They also have baked goods which should not be missed. Pound cake is so good and moist. Service is great and family run. Let support our local business!

Neighborhood diner serving Chinese/taiwanese breakfast items on the weekends. The rice roll is the best dish, others are ok. I would stick with to-going the rice rolls in the next next visit. The prices are really good though, they reflect the local neighborhoody vibe.

Truly feels like you're eating in someone's home or my grandma is cooking for you all my Taiwanese faves: fan tuan, beef noodle soup, warm soy milk with you tiao, dumplings, chive pancake! That said, they're not service oriented here. We waited a long time to order as no one checked on us and they kept answering the phone and dealing with takeout orders like they forgot about us. Once they did take care of us, however, we got our food pretty quickly. The food was authentic and good. They forgot an item so I asked them to take it off the bill, and the woman was appropriately apologetic and kind. The funny thing is that the woman said that it was too much food for us to eat anyway and asked if we were already full. That is how you know when it's an authentic Chinese/Taiwanese place, when they do the opposite of upsell.

Since this place only has Taiwanese breakfast on Saturdays my husband and I decided to try it. The southbay is sadly lacking in Taiwanese breakfast restaurants. The restaurant looks pretty old and very homey. The place is run by a family. We got the fantuan, the beef sandwich, a Chinese donut and 2 cold sweet soy milk drinks. I really like how they cut the fan Tuan and sandwich in half for us to share. I liked the fan Tuan more then the sandwich. The cruller didn’t seem that fresh but it was still not bad and the soy milk was delicious. I would probably like it more if they had radish cake. But Overall not bad and the prices are comparable to the 626.

Came here randomly for lunch. They are also T's boba which is actually pretty decent. Seems like the COVID era has been tough for them since it seems 100% family run and the place seems to be geared towards take-out only. We still dined-in and got to meet the friendly family. We shared a number of dishes: Beef Noodle Soup (3): The noodles were okay. Pretty standard fare. The beef had some tender bits but was mostly lots of tendon and cartilage or collagen or something. Some people like that stuff. I don't. The broth had decent flavor but was a little weak to me. Our kids actually really liked the broth. But then again, my definition of flavor is a punch in the face with spice! This was neither. It was decent with a hint of spice, but I prefer more. Taiwan Style Roasted Belly Pork and Rice (5): THIS is what I'm talking about! The flavor on this was amazing! Not spicy but just really good taiwanese style flavors. Hard for me to explain. The pork was super tender and the rice was amazing! I'd come back for this dish alone! 3 Flavor Pan Fried Crispy Noodle (4): I didn't know what to expect on this dish really but this turned out to be a pleasant surprise. Noodles were fat and super crispy. They softened up nicely and had a good texture to them. The sauce was pretty tasty. You can pretty much get any accompanying ingredient with this base and it'll be good. So add what you like. Fried Green Onion Pancake (4): Can't really mess these up. They fried it nicely and it came out super crispy and hot! XLB (2): Don't get the XLB here. No real soup inside or maybe it was absorbed by the super thick skin. Their filling was actually pretty tasty... but I get XLB for the soup, which theirs were lacking. Free Boba Milk Tea with any Special Rice Dish purchase! The boba was surprisingly good. Nice n chewy. The milk tea could have had more tea flavor but it wasn't bad. Very nice compliment to the meal. Bring cash! Although we didn't see any signs, they are primarily a cash only operation. Not sure if they'll make exceptions or not. I generally don't bring too much cash with me anymore. I luckily just had my wallet stocked with cash from a recent trip though so it was fine. Overall, glad we stopped in. At the very least I'd come back for that Pork Belly Rice dish which came with a free boba milk tea which was decent.

I've been going to this establishment since I was a little kid and they've definitely changed (lol my parents even made me celebrate a birthday here once). Most of the restaurant is closed off as you'll often see some family members of the owner lounging around as well as a table where the owner sells homemade pastries she makes. To be honest, among the pastries I don't really recommend any besides the sponge cake, though I'd still be a bit wary when selecting them. For the actual food, the taste is great! A few favorites are the Lion's Head Meatball, Roasted Pig Feet Rice, and the Beef Noodle Soup. Though I would warn you that lately everytime I come here I do find some strands of hair from the grandma that works here in my Lions Head Meatball and the Beef Noodle Soup. They won't really do anything when you address the hair either which is fairly different of a response from when you go to other establishments. Also, the plates, bowls, and silverware they use are definitely aged... the Lions Head Meatball pot they serve it in has been severely chipped yet they continue to use it and the silverware is typically a bit dirty and covered with some grime. All in all, I'm a bit on the fence whether I'd recommend this place because while the taste is pretty good when looking for a home style meal, be prepared for service that's not so great (the auntie and grandma constantly yell at each other) and not the cleanest of restaurants.

My family (3 generations) has been going to Peter's Place regularly for as long as I can remember. Pre-COVID, we celebrated birthdays, holidays, and graduations there. In my opinion, it has the best Taiwanese/homestyle Chinese food in the South Bay at an affordable price and filling portions. For the past 15 years I've been getting the pork chop noodle, pork chop rice, or Lion's Head meatball and all of them are super delicious every time. I've never gotten tired of the food here! The Taiwanese breakfast on Saturdays is also very good and authentic. My favorite (ever) boba drink is the taro slushy with boba. Peter's Place will always be my favorite restaurant and I will always consider it to be a second home. Teresa and the rest of the family work hard to bring the comfort and warmth of a home-cooked meal and they always deliver!
