Do yourself a favor and sort by new. You will notice many reoccurring themes here. What you are charged does not match the prices on the menu. If you point this out his canned response it so claim that those are the old prices. Looking through the reviews it looks like he has been using that same line for years. The reason he doesnt give a receipt (which is also frequently mentioned) is because he's committing obvious tax fraud and not reporting his business income accurately. This factors in to the rest of my encounter (and probably yours too).My experience was apparently very typical. I asked for two chicken tamales and he claimed that they did not have any. They only had the super tamale. After telling him thats not what I wanted he got really aggressive. Again, this seems like a fairly common experience. He continued to push and talk over me TELLING me what I wanted. The Super Tamale. It was described as "life changing". Bought two and handed over a 20 and then he asked me where the rest of the cash was. Well you didnt tell me how much it costs now did you? Over 40 dollars for two tamales. When I said that was ridiculous he asked if I was too poor to eat there. The tamales, while large, were incredibly disappointing. I'm a white guy but was brought up in a hispanic family. These were by far the worst tamales I ever had.You can also search for the word "racist" in reviews and you'll note that he frequently treats people of the wrong skin color in a fairly hostile fashion. My gf speaks fluent spanish and he was actively talking about some of the black people in line but he wasn't aware that she understood what he was saying. I didn't learn about this until after I left. Many of the recent five star reviews lately are people who just want to show social media they went to the "Tamale Man" after it blew up on tik tok to try to make their lives seem interesting to followers online. Its a scam y'all. The guy is nothing more that a bully and a racist fraudster taking advantage of people for their hard earned money. And that's all he is ever going to be. Its not a coincidence that there is a new complaint every single day about someone getting scammed in the reviews here. Honestly I feel like there is enough evidence to warrant an actual criminal investigation and get this guy sued into oblivion by the IRS for tax evasion.Its also fairly obvious that many of the five star reviews here are fake. The accounts frequently have no other reviews and they don't leave any comments. Sad and pathetic...just like the tamale manAdded a few screenshots from some of the hundreds of complaints from customers who have been scammed by this guy. This was the original tiktok video that made this place "famous"

I was headed 2 Long Beach.I called the day before to ask if I could call in the orders because we were coming in late. He said. "No come in we'll change your life"... I personally was concerned because I watched the YouTube videos and I seen. How long these lines are? And I was going to get in a very long line. And I'll be able to get my Tamale from the Tamale man and I tell you. It was delicious. The beans were good. The Rice was delicious and soft. I needed no salt very well, seasoned food. Will I come back!!! absolutely any time I am the Los Angeles area, I'm there. What I really liked is when I told him I called in. He said oh, that was you. Yes, sir, and I'm here you have a customer for life. Thank you for changing my life Tamale man.

The owner was rude didn't want to sell me a item on the menu he tried to promote the plates. He said he didn't have the single item he was only selling the super tamale plates. He shouldn't have single items and the prices and prices if he won't sell

Unfortunately I read all the negative reviews after visiting, I came in once a few years ago to check the place out when it was new and the owner was taking shots of tequila, sort of forgot about this and fast forward to today I finally decided to go in and actually try a tamale.I was semi aware of the super duper tamale and apparently it went viral on tik tok or something? Anyways I wanted to try 1 and split it with my wife alongside a torta for myself. The owner told me no more tortas and seemed only interested in selling me any everyone else the super duper tamale.He told me the tamale was $20 each which I'm like damn that's expensive but whatever let's try it so I get 2 and a $5 bottle coke woooo expensive we are now at $45 no copy of receipt as you'll see in all other reviews and of course I check my account and $49 is chargedHonestly the tamale is pretty good and big and filling and 1 can definitely be split between a couple. Just sucks the owner isn't transparent about pricing and has what id considerer a fake menu and is only interested in selling his $20 tamalesMy recommendation go in with $20 cash if you wanna try the tamale split it with some as it is large. You'll enjoy it definitely
