You have to give it to the view!!! Exceptional, indeed!! The ambience of the restaurant was nothing special, considering the pricey menu. Service was slow but extremely friendly. The food, I'm sorry to say was mediocre.. stating with appetizer: the coconut prawns were served with rice which was not only extremely hard to eat, but messy and undercooked , yet flavorful . The $65 filet, although tender, lacked any real favor and was served really rare, when I ordered med rare.. paying an add'l $12 for a side other than French fries or mash was a disappointment too, as I ordered the spinach gnocchi and it was cold doe (no taste of spinach) served with tomatoes..my one other companion ordered as I but chose the fries, cold. My other, ordered the Fisherman's Platter, an an assortment of fried fish and shell fish, again, served cold and lacking any real “pop” all in all, party of 3 , $350 .. not too excited about the venture.. sorry

Vegetarian options: Even thou they had to vegetarian options, the cauliflower steak with pistachios dressing was the best vegetarian meal I've ever had in the 44 yrs I've lived here

Great food and the wait staff was amazing. The place could use a little better decor and the music was pretty much just canned elevator type. Still made for a great date night and will definitely be back again

The view and ambiance were amazing. Gorgeous view, quite peaceful music. The service was extremely slow and everything was overcooked, over seasoned, or sopping wet. Waitress and hostess were extremely nice. Liked it just wished the food was better and faster.

If I could go lower than one star I would. The foods good but that just means the cooks are good. From other people I have met in the area all I hear is the owner is a piece of trash. Can't properly communicate, schedules people out, and can't even tell employees something on his own. I truly hope people will see that their rat problem is the owner.

The scenery out the windows was stunning! The restaurant was not too busy as we were here on a Tuesday night. The receptionist seated us quickly at a window table, and we started looking over the menu. The cocktails were basic but good, the wine list was actually surprising. They had several boutique California wineries represented with a selection of different varietals and some French as well. Bubbles, Rose, Roussanne, Pinot, Tempranillo etc. I ordered a bottle of Tablas Creek Roussanne at a good price. No price gouging on wine at all. The menu had extensive choices. I had wished for more local seafood but was told it wasn't in season. My husband had a cioppino that was delicious, I had steamed clams, good but not hot enough. The beet and burrata salad was nice and the oysters were local and fresh. Our server Casey was very attentive and we enjoyed his humor and friendly air. We realize it is off season and mid-week so it wasn't busy but still had about 5-6 tables full. It seems a special occasion place. *The space is cozy but a bit tattered. Carpet is dark and industrial. tables and chairs are defiantly worn. The windows to the view were clean, table settings were clean/basic. The ceiling was cool and the bar was decent. With a few cosmetic changes- this place could be a 4.5-5 ambiance. We would come again.

Beautiful location overlooking the ocean. Great food and selection of options. However, with the bar close to the dining area the noice level was extremely high especially with loud obnoxious patrons speaking too loud that bartender should have controlled

Don't know why it still says it's open but it's not...

I made reservations a month ago for my husband‘s 70th birthday tomorrow night (March 8, 2024). I just happened to call Moonstone this afternoon to ask them a question and I was told that they are not going to be open tomorrow and next week due to electrical problems. We love the moonstone grill, but I cannot believe that they didn’t inform their customers that they were closing. We would’ve shown up tomorrow dressed up, ready to celebrate my husband‘s birthday and we would’ve been out of luck. What a disappointment. I can understand problems come up in business but my gosh a courtesy goes a long way. Not very professional

The restaurant was closed on arrival and there was no sign of activity. Nearby local sources reported there was difficulty with county regulations, staff, etc. It may have been closed by the authorities.

I have been to this restaurant MANY times. It's a favorite for anniversaries.... You may want to consider choosing a different place to dine and spend your money, unless you like food contaminated by rats and a business that quite literally sweeps the rat feces under the rug. The county has shut their doors due to a rat investigation, that the restaurant is claiming to be, "equipment repairs." As nice as this place is, behind the scenes is absolutely horrendous.. With critical surfaces being contaminated and food prep sinks having rat feces in them, I would hope the public would be smart enough to not patron this garbage business anymore. This has been going on for YEARS. Rat infestations don't just happen over night. They're not impossible to fix either. A little responsibility on the restaurant's behalf would go a long way in this situation, but they are just blatantly lying to the public about this, in hopes it gets swept under the rug with the rest of the rat feces. DO BETTER MOONSTONE!!!!

The county has closed them yet again for rats. They don't keep the rat situation under control to the point that this has happened AGAIN. This place is disgusting. They even lied about why they got closed on their social media when they could've owned it and asked for forgiveness I used to go to the is place all the time for my anniversary but they've had this problem for a while now. I had a friend who fixes appliances go there to fix their oven because of rats nests breaking it... beware. Eat here at your own risk.
