3/13/2024There's not much to say. The food was bland. I NEVER add salt to my food, now I guess I can't say never. Ordered a regular margarita on the rocks it tasted like mix. My wife asked for a float, still tasted like mix.She ordered the Chili Relleno diner, and I had the Steak Ala Mexicana. Steak was way overcooked, so it was tough to cut. We also didn't care for the salsa. Very bland.The wait staff was pretty attentive, and the place was clean. My wife read the reviews, which is why we tried it, but it didn't hit the spot for us.

My wife and I have been going to El Charro for years, the food is always excellent anything we have tried through the years is always been top notch. My wife and I would recommend this Mexican restaurant 100% if you've never been here before try it at least once and I guarantee it won't be the last time. The outside & inside may not be the most appealing but it gives you the old Mexican restaurant feel. Try it

Absolutely love this place. Been going here since I was a kid. Cheese enchiladas with red sauce are my favorite. Their salsa is so good. Chili relleno are very good. Tapitas are good. I haven't tried anything from here I didn't like. ?

Amazing food and service! Have been here several times but my family and I went yesterday for Valentine's Day and the staff couldn't have been more friendly! The food is always delicious and comes out hot. It's a comfortable atmosphere and the decor is great! We all left satisfied with our experience.

Best authentic Mexican food in Stanislaus County! Very fresh and tastes like home made Mexican food. They have the best grilled chicken which is rare to find at many places! Employees are very nice! Food is affordable and has the best quality. I recommend this place!

There really wasn't anything special about their food. The only thing that stood out about this place is that they served both flour and corn chips with the salsa. I ordered the cheese enchilada lunch and the cheese in the enchiladas was not melted. The waitress served our drinks then left and didn't come back till she brought our food, then didn't come back for a while...we were finished with our food for at least 15-20 minutes till she reappeared, so I was not able to have my dish heated.

Everything you order from here tastes so amazing! This is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants here in town. The service is usually pretty quick. The restaurant is pretty small but they usually get you seated quickily. You can't go wrong trying this place out

Honestly a bad experience with the food. I asked for caldo de camaron and as soon as i tasted it i can tell it had been somehow cooked with the pork. I tasted straight manteca. When i asked the waiter to ask the kitchen wether itd been cooked with the pork. And “they couldnt give a definitive answer”. The waiter was really nice though!

Our favorite go-to Mexican restaurant. A wide variety of delicious choices. Staff is very friendly and always customer focused. Casual atmosphere with both indoor and outdoor spaces. Acoustics inside could be improved exponentially when they are busy; makes it tricky to carry a conversation. We will return!!

If I could rate this place ten stars I would. The food was excellent. Best Mexican food we have found in the fifteen years we have been in the area. Normally we stay around Modesto but decided to venture into Turlock tonight. Boy are we glad we did. This hands down is the place to go for good Mexican food. Service was also excellent, inside was cute and quaint. We will be back as there are so many things we want to try on the menu. And did I say the food was excellent!!!!!!!
